You're right, good observation.

The other day I went to UBA, Oyingbo - Ebutte Metta Lagos for withdrawal. I first went to ATM and it wasn't working. Luckily for me, I had a piece of cheque.

I went inside and joined the endless queue. After a very long time, when it got to my turn, I was told "no withdrawal, only deposit" cos of bad network.

I was angry with the lady who was supposed to come and address customers, but she felt less concerned.

That's Nigeria for you.

Not all sha. The one at skye bank in my area is so calm and friendly. If she notice say you dey vex she go use style calm u down.

Economically, religiously and socially, attitude of most Nigerians (female especially) is of disdain, pride and self-gods.

Some of these banks don't care about the attitude of their supposed ambassadors (customer care folks) towards customers, provided they have staff who are still loyal at the expense of meagre wages.

You would almost believed it's better at banks if you happen to experience those at government offices.

Well, UBA in OAU is nt like that bt I guess its same everywher, I've seen it in GTB bt with a guy,bt they normally train them on how to attend to customers bt its like they re saddist. Banks have ethics or norms on good human leations.

This is one out of the numerous reasons,why I won't dare employ a female in sensitive positions,that deals in taking care of the people who provide me my daily bread....imagine a customer care shouting to her boss bread winner...I swear I will send her home instantly without paying her 1 kobo....

The worst part is me standing in queue and one yeye woman will just over-take me and she will answer the woman simply because they are friends back home...most of these customers care and cashiers don't know and have what it takes to do such jobs....and if they should be ignored now...you will hear them shouting gender discrimination....

You as a worker,if you wanna work under me...one thing you should know is that..your/my customers are our God's and thus we should give them every respect and services they deserve..because they are the ones paying your salary not your boss

Hyperactive isn't the word. Rudeness, lack of courtesy is more appropriate.

It has nothing to do with the desk (CS), it's inbuilt. If you take them away from CS to FT or some other desk, they would still be rude. grin
The best their HOP can do is to remove such person from a desk where he/she has customer interface. This would be done after series of complaints from customers.

Sometimes it could be work pressure, other times irate customers always forming quality controllers have a way of getting on their nerves.

In all, report them. If the HOP does nothing, call the Head Office.

She always put a smile on every customers' face

I could remember she gave me 5k cus I couldn't withdraw due 2 netwrk ish

She dnt knw me frm anywhere yet she helped me....I had to pay her bck d next week cus dat day was friday

She has bn d kindest woman I've ever since

lol..I remembered the one I met at Fidelity Bank the other day, though not in the customer care unit, after issuing money to a customer, the customer told her that the money is not complete, she ignored the man, after the man insisted, she shouted at the customer that the money is complete and that she will not re-count..I just started shaking my head for her as if she was the machine that is counting the money, only just to collect the money back and recount in the machine was a big deal for her. then how did she expect to resolve other serious issues that might arise when dealing with customers. I noticed that the female bankers are mostly the ones that have these issues

The truth s I don't wnt to argue ur point but the truth is these customer care people in banks have a lot to do thus try to be smart with each customer. But some customers seem to push them to elastic limit with some unnecessery mistakes repeatedly,remember they are under preasure.
Again I'm bold to say that there s something not right with a particular customer who has issue with customer service staffs in 3 diffrent banks.
Something is certainly not ok with him/her!

UBA is worse,though I've never been a victim of such embarrassment but I've witnessed it several times. What they failed to realize is dat,its these customers they misbehave to that pays their salary. If they know the work is stressing them,why don't they resign jeje?There are several hundreds of better unemployed graduates looking for such opportunity. I've concluded in my mind that the day one of them will misbehave to me like dat,i will make sure i report the person to the manager and ensure he/she is queried. So annoying angry

Bros op, pls don't blame them. These girls are going thru a lot. I can authoritively tell u that their bosses shine their congo to give them the job, they shine their congo b4 they can be promoted, they shine their congo to get all the benefits that accrue to them and to think that not only one boss does this to them is frustrating. Since these girls do not actually know what they are doing, it is easy for these bosses to push them around! That is why they take out their frustrations on you period!

You can't blame them. Most of these bankers are under a lot of pressure from boss and the endless number of customers that come to them, some of them asking questions that anybody can answer.

That said, it still not an excuse to behave unprofessionally. The training of bankers should be revised.

No you are wrong...I cannot for the mere fact that you are a female,risk loosing my customers,if one female cannot take the heat there are others who can...and there are males out there very capable and fit for such jobs too...there is a reason,why customer care are mostly females,and if they cannot work based on that reasons,then a male should fill the slot....I ain't saying all females customer care behaves like this,both majority of them do....they seems to forget that there is a specific time for everything....how can people be in line waiting,after spending some minutes in the toilet or bathroom doing what I don't know,then coming back,you have to start unnecessary discussions that are not related to your job...not to talk about attending to someone who jumped queue

I believe this is a serious issue to address, the case of some female bankers that ocupies the customer care units of the bank.

First of all, I don't think that some of them even know what their duties are and what customer care unit entails. When you meet some hyper-reactive female bankers occupying that position, then you get to understand me well and ask what the hell those kind of people are doing at that section.

Some of them are very impatient, so full of themselves (because of maybe one 100k they receive monthly), rude and obviously don't know what their jobs entail.

I have met them in UBA, GTB and some other banks, and I begin to wonder if this is the case of job miss road.

All customer care job in every organization or establishments entails that those in charge are people with good humours, patience, friendly, always ready to attend and help out customers and even respond to the most stupid questions, they are always supposed to handle and treat every customer warmly without any string nor pains attached.

But reverse happens to be the case in many instances. You get to see some female bankers that call themselves customer care attendants: some of them, very hostile and you dare not make the mistake of asking them one question twice even when you repeated the question thinking that they did not hear you well initially, they can even shout at you or squeeze face and hiss, very hyperactive set of people. In fact they are always not happy. They bite at every little issue.

Whenever I see and notice them in banks, I just shake my head in dismay and often say to myself 'who kept this one here as a customer care assistant self'.
WHENEVER I MEET SUCH CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE, MY RESPONSE AND REACTION TO THEM IS THAT THEY DON'T DESERVE THE JOB, IT SHOWS CERTAINLY THAT THEY GOT THE JOB THROUGH THE HELP OF SOMEBODY BY DENYING AN MORE APPROPRIATE AND MERITED PERSON.
