What I am saying is that I do not subscribe to the motion that says I have to take care of a girl financially because she is my girlfriend...people need to know the actual meaning and reason of being a boyfriend/girlfriend....

Am the type of person that will have millions,give money to people both male and female,but the moment you as a girlfriend feel am the one that suppose to take care of your financial needs off you go....I hate blood-suckers and parasites

It may seem more rampant with Nigerian ladies but it's same all over the world. I think the only difference is, in some parts of the world their women just want to know a man isn't lazy and it's working.

Given the salary structure in some develop countries, even a minimum wage earner can sustain a relationship, financially. And their women are ever willing to contribute in the running of the affair too. But whichever way, no woman want to have any amorous relationship with a broke dude in no part of the world. I mean how does it even work?. I don't understand the aggravation of some of our brothers on this thread oo.

You have a point but there are some certain things that a man still need money for without directly taking care of their girlfriend like you put it.

Money is necessary to igniting those things, springing up surprises that wowed women. One mustn't give them the cash or pay for their bills to spend on them. There are places to go which demands money. Such could include; cinema, sightseeing, gifts on special days. Even little things as calling requires money. Sustaining a relationship without money is just unattainable.

The unending poverty is a major factor that fuels this vicious cycle and this is where the Government needs to come in and make policies that would ensure that the women's folk in the society are given some form of assistance and kick- start after school or any skill of their choice.
I heard that India has such a financial house whose sole aim is to empower women that has an ideology, skill and motivated to make something out of themselves.If such outfits are properly organized and managed thereby empowering our women it would reduce this shameful hydra head problem of seeing a man as a cash cow and give them a sense of pride and ownership which in the long run will reflect on the society at large.

I strongly feel that if the female folks of any nation is left behind due to gender inequality in the labor markets and lack of opportunities , the ensuing chaos that would follow can't be quantified using this sensitive issue of materialism and sex as a case study in today's Nigeria but again our leaders are too dumb to understand that the failure of the opposite sex in any society is an eminent failure of that nation as the family would have been so disorganized to even raise kids with good heads on their shoulders.
