sukkot: Lol, I'm starting to like the "Uzochukwu" tag, trust me, bruddah. The conquering lion of Biafra! ![]() They'd be alright if they can plan judiciously and get the serious minded and supremely educated Igbos involved (which should exist even if they're in the minority, but I've never seen them on here or anywhere in Cyberspace). They're negroes, and even if they never had an empire, all negroes are blessed with the same gifts - regardless of tribe. It just depends on how they're able to make their culture resonate/relate to their immediate environment, and the need to survive. They'd be alright on the long run, they just need to go about it through the right channel and stop alienating their neighbours with their aggressiveness and domineering posturing. A lot of Igbos are decent and I believe they're the most open to Afrocentricism among all the ethnic groups in Nigeria per population, though the overwhelming majority of them are just as brainwashed as the rest of Nigerians, based on my observation -and that's a great attribute. |

pazienza: I hear that. Arewa folks have Arab nuts stuck in their mouths. While my Yoruba folks are just confused and they don't know what they want while they're stuck in being Anglophile and Americophile. Igbos as well wanna be more white and catholic than the pope, with Yisrael's nuts in their mouths. All confused folks, really. Just be peaceful while you go about trying to achieve ya dreams and use dialogue and, rein that loose canon on radio Biafra in, before he creates a bigger problem. 1 Like 1 Share |

The only problem is when you come on NL and see how people comment negatively about the country you fight for... it's truly disheartening, you always pause to ask yourself..... are these ones worth dying for? In any case God Guide you. |

Shymm3x: This is the curse we are laboring under; Isaiah 29:14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. Isaiah 42:24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the Lord, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law. And this is our redemption NOW; Isaiah 54:4 4 Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more. Ezekiel 39:25 25 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name; |

Re: My Life Belongs To My Country - Nigerian Soldier, Habu Sabo (pic) by Shymm3x: 5:54pm On Jul 14, 2015 |
sukkot: Lol, Afrocentricism is about telling/viewing our history, experience, and story by ourselves - not telling/viewing it via the destructive Eurocentric lense. Only us as black people can gather our own scholarship and tell our own story, and that's the nucleus of Afrocentricism. So, regardless, of where you're or live - being Afrocentric should be natural to you cos you're an African. 1 Like |

Shymm3x:so you mean africans in africa dont view their history via african eyes ? that must be very weird. i can relate with pan-africanism which is like trying to strengthen ties with all the black nations in the world and forming an economic pact ![]() |

Shymm3x: Here's what I dont get.. people wanna downplay racism and the push for white supremacy, chalking talks like these up to our black failures... but when you mention the word Biafra... I'm seeing comments about waging war, starvation, and war r.aping again.. lol smdh.. I thought bringing up racism made us insecure though. I mean why so serious over the word |
Re: My Life Belongs To My Country - Nigerian Soldier, Habu Sabo (pic) by Shymm3x: 6:44pm On Jul 14, 2015 |
sukkot: How do Africans in Africa view their history with African eyes, when the only history the overwhelming majority of them care about is the post colonial one, and colonial ones written by white folks? Check the threads about colonial and post-colonial Nigerian history and compare it with the threads about pre-colonial histories of either Africa/Nigeria - and juxtaposition the number of folks on those threads, and you'll get a clearer picture. I'd wager that the overwhelming majority of Nigerians/Africans in 2015 still don't know what civilisation is and they still believe the white man brought civilisation to Africa. And without the white man, we'll still be savages. ![]() Ben Okri's book "Infinite Riches" in its mythical and esoteric/metaphysical narrative kind of paints a picture of the type of history the average Africans care about. The ones written by the colonial governor generals of every colony. |

Re: My Life Belongs To My Country - Nigerian Soldier, Habu Sabo (pic) by Shymm3x: 6:52pm On Jul 14, 2015 |
AAinEqGuinea: I think it has to do with the stigma associated with the word "Biafra" after the last war. The miscalculations, the evils, the pains, the accusations, the counter-accusations etc.. Once you from it from that perspective, the word might carry the same weight as the word "Ni.gger" in the Nigerian context - albeit within different structures/spaces and experiences that aren't intertwined/relative. Anyway, in as much as I might disagree with the approach - I like the revolutionary idea behind it. Freedom of association for all human beings is divine, and when something isn't working, trying a next one isn't always a bad idea - unless you're insane a la Albert Einstein. Nigeria isn't working and it will most likely never work, unless it's re-structured in a way that folks are either semi-autonomous or autonomous. Not by pouring the same wine into different bottles and screaming everywhere about making history, when it's business as usual with a different face. |

Shymm3x:but i dare say that is the situation with the peons in every country in the world. if you ask an american about their past history they will draw a blank. same in every country in this world. its not an african thing. people just dont care about the past. this new generation all over the world has been dumbed down. its too many gadgets that they have. you think a nigga who got 3000 songs on his ipod got time to be reading about the past ? ![]() |

sukkot: But American history wasn't written by the Brits, nor the British history written by the Roman - despite the fact that they're all Europeans. And all white people have a grasp of the history of their ancestors in Europe, from the Greeks, to the Romans, to the Germanic tribes et al, cos that's the world history and the history of western civilisation. Apart from knowing about the history of their respective countries today. However, the average African glamourises the nostalgia of selective pictures of the colonial times, when the white colonists lived large and fat in Africa - and African people were treated as slaves and savages in their own countries. With few nice houses for the Europeans, while they lived in sheds and huts. Few schools. Few paved roads that link where colonists lived and worked, while all the roads where the Africans lived were unpaved. Rail tracks linking different cities and towns the colonists perpetually looted and create easy transportation links to the sea coast etc.. Just as black diaspora mostly care about the history starting from the slavery days when they were dehumanised and perpetually in bondage. That's the difference, and basically what all these folks celebrate all the time. Celebrating your oppressors and the period when you were in bondage. ![]() Only Afrocentricism can cure that innate mental sickness. |

AAinEqGuinea:racism is not a big deal if you are a millionaire and dont have to work for the white man. if you have that freedom. i was once in a situation where i was dating this white chick who was working while i stayed at home. walahi when you dont work there is no such thing as racism cuz on the streets white people pretend to be very nice. its when you start working with them or looking for a job in their firms that you will experience racism ![]() 1 Like |

sukkot: I believe the US school curriculum does teach Americans about their own history, and a lot about the Romans and the Greeks - from kindergarten level. I know about the UK. However, is there anything like that in Africa? ![]() You don't judge a population by random edited comic relief on Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel. You can use the internet for example and comments on blogs and websites to gauge their knowledge. And most white folks do know their history. Freaking plumbers in the UK know their history, and they'll tell you who they're and how you can detect someone of Roman descent, with the signature extremely big and pointed nose like pinocchio. ![]() 1 Like |

Shymm3x: You're preaching gold right now. I don't think many people care about the colonialism component anymore. Many ppl have probably come to accept their colonial boundaries which is understandable, but I personally can't take someone screaming "one Africa" seriously but is then willing to kill that fellow African if they don't want to live within some boundary anymore. In all the politics is none of my business, but neither is it anyone's business who can stand on their own two feet while still letting Biafra materialize on its own. |

sukkot: Colonial history apart from Jaja of Opobo who was a slave merchant that later became rebellious and Mansa Musa. Did they teach about the greatness of Oyo and Bini empires? The majestic civilisations displayed on the Ife heads and Bini arts? The story of how the Moors ruled Europe? All the great civilisations scattered around Africa? How African the Egyptians, and Phoenicians were? The conquering black man, Hannibal of Carthage? The great Queen Nzinga of Kongo? The great Zimbabwe? The greatness of the mysterious city of Timbuktu? Oh, they told you Mungo Park discovered the Niger River, no? The same River that helped in the greatness of Songhay and Timbuktu lol. They told you an Africanus discovered Africa just as a drunk Columbus discovered America lol. They created Nigeria and Niger from the same word "Ni.gger" where the name of the Niger River came from and that was how shiit got ugly loool. 1 Like |

sukkot: Well, I never went to school in Nigeria and I don't need a refund but from the comments on this forum and all over cyberspace, I believe you're just playing to the gallery cos 99.9% of Naij folks know nothing about everything I cited. However, I can go on any British website now - even dailymail as bad as it is, and start any topic on the Romans and Greeks, and most would chip in. I could even start a topic about the legendary gangsters and mobs that ever lived in the UK and everyone would chip in cos you learn everything in School from kindergarten level. Can you peep the difference? 1 Like |

Shymm3x:bruv i went to a boarding school called FGCL. bruv, one of the best public schools in the country. what i learnt in that school ? no school in any part of the world can teach me. best school ever mate. there was no western agenda in that school. i dont think we learnt anything european. it was always about mansa musa and opobo and the pyramids of giza and the pharaohs etc etc so I dont know where you are getting your info, and if you are using the youth of today to gauge school curiculum then you are sorely mistaken because the youth of today all over the world, not only nigeria, are all dullards who dont care about history. too many ipod and ipads and smartphones mate. they dont got time to learn anymore. so you using the nigerian youth on nairaland to gauge the curiculum in nigeria is a mistake on your path ![]() |
Re: My Life Belongs To My Country - Nigerian Soldier, Habu Sabo (pic) by Shymm3x: 8:05pm On Jul 14, 2015 |
sukkot: Brev, there might be no overt Eurocentric agenda. But that doesn't negate the fact that the school syllabus is an Eurocentric one and the knowledge is selective, to suit a certain narrative. Do you get the logic now? Who wrote the School syllabus in Nigeria and I'd wager that ya textbooks were European ones. Evidently, they wrote the story the want they want you to see it, just as they keep telling us that ancient Egyptians who came from Nubia (Sudan) and Kush (Ethiopia) were not black, even when we all know that Kemet (ancient Egypt) was described as the first daughter of Kush and the civilisation built by kushites and Nubians on the Nile valley. Kemet means land of the blacks or black land. And even when the great Greek philosopher and historian, Heretodus, described the ancient Egyptians as having the same complexion as the Ethiopians. ![]() They told us the Moors were from Morocco and they were not black when there was no Morocco at that point in history, and Morocco started existing after the Moors were pushed out of Europe - making it the end of their lordship over Southern Europe. They told us hannibal wasn't black - but his coin showed a guy with something that looks like short dreads and extremely big lips and broad nose. Were those not the type of books that were used in ya School, big bredrin? ![]() |
