And am here vaccinating mine every one to two weeks, my money don finish for multivitamins, typhoid and coccidisis drugs, from what am seeing, Cockrells are more delicate, complicated than broilers. Everyone is blaming me for venturing into Cockrell. (gumboro, lasota, deworming,) and mine eat a lot (thought they said Cockrell doesn't eat much?) consumes 2bags of feed a day. Please can I have the contact of the hatchery that supplies you, and @how much? Thanks very much.

About fowl pox, the place I buy it, they always mark the box as being vaccinated at day old when I buy, so I don't know which type of vaccination they actually give them. And from the day I collect them, I don't give them any other vaccine, and none die...They are always healthy till the end.

About feeding, I feed them normal feeds that broilers eat...Starter, Grower, and Finisher Feed. I guess this is where my secret lies. Most pple that rare cockerels mostly just feed them starter, and growers.

I have 50 right now that are two months and super healthy, and I didn't vaccinate them even once...apart from the occasional multivitamin drugs I slip in there water, I don't give them anything else. Yea, cockerels eat a lot, but it helps them grow. I will get the contacts of where I get my chicks.

For my 50 cockerels, they ate up 7 bags for two months...N2,500 per bag averagely. Yea, people will discourage you cos cockerels take longer time to grow...like 4-6 months to reach maturity. But Broilers take just 2-3 months to reach full size. About vaccine, they were already vaccinated when I bought them, and I just keep them multivitamin in their water once every week or so.

Pls my senior colleagues o! I need help badly o! I ve lost 9 layer chicks in 3 days! Wat am I doing wrong. Pls help. I got 50 broilers and 50 layers chicks. So far I ve nt lost any broiler but I dnt understand why am loosing d layers.
D first day I brought them homee I gave them glucose in their water.
Feed: top feed starter.
Second day, I added vitalyte to their water
Feed: d same
Today is d 3rd day, I added annicillin to dia water
Feed : same
Bt from my observation I think d broilers are climbing/lying on the layers. Cos I dnt think its disease dats killin dem, when I pick dem up, they ll be half dead, like in pains, either their neck or leg is broken.
How do I manage dz situation now. Thanks

At a point u have to separate the broilers from layers so the broilers won't kill them. Have u given gumboro and lasota vaccine?

You should not administer any drugs in the first 3 days, only Vitalyte is enough.
Administration of drug within the first 3 days might compromise the immune system of the chick's.

Initially I had that heat challenge, I tried stove, d smoke. Didn't hhelp matter @ all, I quickly went to d market, got charcoal stove 2 pcs, bt d heat was massive, using one was ok, bt if I step out for like 3 hours, the charcoal ll burn out and d brooder ll be cold again. So I inquired from someone who said I could use lamps, I got several of it, and since today I ve nt lost any chick except one dat had an accident. Something feLl on her. D heat is better and I now understand how they behave concerning light and heat. Didn't know dat dey dnt see well as chicks. Bt I know dat now. Thanks.
My challenge now is d drugs to be used / vaccines; when? How? Day to day. Starting from day 4.

Wood shavings should be used.
Uneven surface will break their legs.
Use black cellophane to cover the outside, give a little space for air.

Sadly l I lost 1 broiler today and one layer chick was soak with water and later died
I had to run my gen till 2:am for them. Before I turned it off, they were all happy n running around bt I can't explain why or how that one died. Maybe stampede, but there were enof lamps... Feeling a lil discouraged...

Remember you can not feed your broiler birds with only maize.
So you ve to formulate the feed by adding other stuffs to make it a balance diet.
The age of the birds must be known to be able to calculate the amount of maize they will consume in conjunction with other ingredients.
