Urgent advice Pls.

My birds of 24+wks have been hovering on 40% production for almost a week.
I noticed pale coloured eggs, soft shell and white shell eggs. I equally noticed greenish poo & black poo.
I called in my vet and he adviced I deworm the birds immediately, give vitamins for 2days and repeat laxota. The last one was administrated on the 27th of last month.(3wks)
His reason was that the last vaccine failed.
he sited a similar case with his farm due too failure of a particular brand of vaccine which I equally used.

My worry is the black and green poo.
I had initially bought totravet for the coccidiosis(black poo) to be administered for 2 days and Neoceryl Plus for another 5days before giving the vaccine next week.
Should I follow the vet's advice or stick with belief that you don't vaccinate sick birds.

I'll say ff ur vet's advice plus give antibiotics like tylodox after deworming. And yes, don't vaccinate sick birds.

@Eggcellent, i have given them keproceryl a day after their arrival and also Vitalyte.
@Farmtech, i will give them Lasota on Monday 17th, that is when they will be a week in my farm. on 24th, i will give them Gomboro.
Thank you so much for your concern. As for the temperature spread, i have taken care of it now they don't form clusters. In fact the little birds are doing very well as of today their third day.
I welcome all suggestions from friends.
i am presently constructing a new house for broilers, 40feet by 12 feet to accommodate 500 birds. work has started today.
..
At what day old are u giving the vaccines? I'll advice u start gumboro at day 5, lasota day 7 etc.

Gm house. I noticed that my birds have lice, we treated dem wit lice meds, a week later. Lasota was due n it was given. We gave them water for the rest of the days. Soo on tuesday we started dem on antibiotics wit vitamins n now production has drop from.90 crates to 84 crates. Informed my vet today of this finding
He told me to continue wit the antibiotics vitamin. But i am thinking since we treated wit lice med, and followed wit lasota. We shld follow up wit vitamin n let dem take dat for couple of days b4 we proceed with the antibiotic vitamin. Pls i want to knw if i shld follow is instruct or just give vitamins for few days.

Urgent Advice Needed:

My young Pullets are due for MAREK'S Vaccination on Friday (Day22) based on my vaccination schedule,

1. But I would like to know 'how late is too late' to administer Marek's Vaccine in pullets.?

2.Since it is believed that hatcheries have already done the vaccination at day old, must it be repeated in farm?

Thanx as u respond.

Pls my senior colleagues o! I need help badly o! I ve lost 9 layer chicks in 3 days! Wat am I doing wrong. Pls help. I got 50 broilers and 50 layers chicks. So far I ve nt lost any broiler but I dnt understand why am loosing d layers.
D first day I brought them homee I gave them glucose in their water.
Feed: top feed starter.
Second day, I added vitalyte to their water
Feed: d same
Today is d 3rd day, I added annicillin to dia water
Feed : same
Bt from my observation I think d broilers are climbing/lying on the layers. Cos I dnt think its disease dats killin dem, when I pick dem up, they ll be half dead, like in pains, either their neck or leg is broken.
How do I manage dz situation now. Thanks

You will feed broilers with broiler starter while you feed the layers with chicks mash.

Hello everyone, I greet u all!
I have been following this tread for sometime now and wish to commend each and everyone here for informative and or educative posts/contributions.
I want to venture into full time poultry farming with little or no experience but my confusions are:-

1. What step should I take first?
2. How many birds can a novice like me start up with and on what estimated budget? (Excluding land)
I have read a lot of articles, been to some farms and about to begin a 3months in-farm (practical) training but I still need advice from the pros and experts here.

Pls help!!!

Bc if they're brooding infectn currently, vitamin alone cannot handle it.

A Big thank you to all for ur excellent contributions on/ to this Forum. Very soon Certificates will be awarded to my ogas on this forum. Me think that a B:sc in poultry production without useful insight from a forum like this amounts is not enough. Poultry business is Purely Practical.

Well I want to know the required no of days to withdraw antibiotics from laying birds before vaccination. My birds are currently on Neoceryl and I intend to vaccinate them as soon as possible.

In like manned, I want to know the total hours required for water to be withfrawn before the actual vaccination. My practice before was 2hrs.

Kudos to you all in the house. Knowledgable minds help out. I notice some of my DOC are sleeping whille some are playing around. Please is It normal for them to be sleepy in their first week. Meanwhile, the brooding is not cold. I will appreciate ur responses
Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by twoMcfemad: 4:28pm On Aug 14, 2015
davidzfarm18, with my little poultry experience, I'll advise minimum of three days before vaccination. Pls ensure your pipes, tanks, water troughs as the case maybe are thoroughly cleaned and flushed. Remember to give vitamins after vaccination.

There are no standard period to withdraw water, manufacturers may say at least 2 or 3 hours. If you think 2 hours is fine to make ur birds thirsty and consume the vaccine in no time, then its fine.

In my case, I withdraw the water by 6pm of the previous day as I would have to flush and the clean the tanks and pipes ahead.

All the very best,sir.

crownzade, well done sir. Check for the birds that are sleeping, tap them and see if they respond. if they respond by waking up and playing around, no cause for alarm. In case where they're not responding and exhibiting signs of dullness/sickness, then raise alarm. IMO,sir.
