hello everyone ,
In the spirit of giving back .
Pardon my long post .

I flew emirates to dubai at 32 weeks , no fit to fly was asked for (after paying my doctor 10k for this).
Stayed over in dubai for two weeks with my sister. Two days to my departure to New York , I started having painful contractions , was really bad . Called my naija doctor , told me to use ventolin tabs , no relieve cry A night before I left the pain intensified with more frequent contractions , my doctor told me to check into a hospital in dubai to check if am dilated , told me if I was 4cm dilated I had to choice but to give birth in dubai ( I said never , I ain't giving birth to an Arab baby )
Held on to my faith , got to the airport with a smile covering up my pains . Got on the flight , flight was smooth , no legs swollen .
Getting to jfk , got on the wheel chair , was wheeled to the immigration .
Officer ; hi
Me ; good afternoon
Officer; why you here
Me ; vacation and to have my baby
Officer ; punches on his system then took my finger prints . Then ask what do you do in Nigeria
Me ; I am a ****
Officer ; how are you paying your bills ,cheque or cash
Me ; I have some cash with me and the rest in my card , which ever works .
Officer ; how did u hear about the doctor
Me ; he came highly recommended and I have read reviews about him
Officer ; stamps me in for 6months . This took less than 5 mins .
I was happy , got my luggage n moved to customes.
Then one stern looking black officer asked for my pp n landing card . Saw my visa and started questioning me .
Off; how long are you here for
Me ; 3 months
Off; can I see ur return ticket
Off ; u mean you would stay in a hotel for 3months ?
Me ; yes
Off; is it already paid for ?
Me ; not yet but I already booked it
Off; collected the booking , asked me if I had family or friends in the U.S. ( I said no) asked me again (I said no)
Off; asked me what I do in Nigeria ? Told him n said so am off work for 3 months
Me ; yes I am maternity leave
Officer , so you are having your baby here
Am like oh yes !!
Gives me my pp , he just wasted my time . Told me to move on , no agriculture with all the food I brought .
I got out , headed to Maryland to check into a hospital , I was monitored for about an hour , doctor told me everything was fine that I was just 1.5cm dilated . Recommended pain killer n I was released.
Heading back to New Jersey for my doctors appointment on Monday .
Ps ; I actually have family n friends in the U.S. But I used a hotel reservation for my visa application , needed to stick with it.

So sorry for the long post o , I even tried to cut the story short . My hands are aching sef ....

Hi MaduxRox based on what she told me the convo went something like this;

VO: Purpose of travel
Cousin: Vacation
VO: What do u do?
Cousin: I work with so and so construction company as an admin asst
VO: What roles do you perform
Cousin: So and So
VO: How much do you earn
Cousin: So and So, these are my pay slips
VO: I don't need to see any document
VO: Where and where have you travelled to
Cousin: Ghana and China
VO: When you visited China what places of interest did you visit
Cousin: So and So

Cousin: Sightseeing and also would be helping my cousin who is to have her baby there
VO: Oh so who is sponsoring the trip
Cousin: My cousin is because she is the one who wants me to come, ordinarily I wouldn't be visiting the US now
VO: When is your cousin due to give birth
Cousin: So and So
VO: I can see you applied for last month and u were denied, why have you reapplied so soon
Cousin: Because I felt I wasn't given a chance to explain in detail my reasons for travel adequately to the officer and the time is fast approaching for my cousin to leave and she would need me pending when her husband comes to join her in the states as he cant be away from work for too long
VO: Are you in a relationship? (only God knows why she asked this question, I think she was just looking for a reason to give the poor girl... and the Holy Spirit at work obviously)
Cousin: Yes im currently engaged
VO: Congratulations, when is the wedding
Cousin: We are looking at February but nothing is cast in stone for now
VO: Ok your visa has been approved, pick up on Thursday
Cousin: Thank you so much! Thank you... oh Thank you!

LOL....

The End.

i really don't think you should book with wakanow if you are going for child birth. Try to call the airlines directly and book a flight that is flexible i.e you can make changes at little or no fee. if you book with a travel coy and you need to change your flight, it could cost you a whole lot. even adding a baby to your own itinerary could be expensive as well. I know travelstart has a package that can make you make changes at no fee but you pay the difference in tax and fares. all this travel agencies book the cheapest flights ticket they can find for you which comes with little or no benefits. you can also try www.priceline.com as well.

Thanks @bigfido

Unfortunately Favouredmum confirmed there is no email address and she only accepts patient upon arrival in Houston.

Hello, Please how much did wyckoff charge you for all the test and how many timed did you go for doctor's appointment.

pepeflavor:
My POE experience.

Flew BA to NY and the flight was really full for both legs of the trip (Los-Lon and Lon-NY). we were just 2 preggos on both legs. was the very last person on the line when we got to NY so an officer walking past asked me to leave the queue and she took me to the front.

Met a nice looking black lady.
CBP: How are you doing today?
Me: Very well thanks
CBP: why do you have so much money on you (from the landing card)
Me: i am here for vacation and to have my baby
CBP: How long are you here for?
Me: 12 weeks
CBP: who will take care of you while you are here
Me; My uncle and his wife
CBP: where do you work and what do you do for them?
Me: told her and i just opened the file i have with me to bring out the letter from my work so she saw my complimentary card and picked it up, looked at it and gave me back (didnt check the letter). Then she asked me to step aside that she needs to talk to her colleague (a white late). The white lady left her cubicle and came into the black one's own and the were looking at the computer with my passport, the she stepped out again and called me.

CBP: there is no crime in you coming into the US to have your baby but i believe you know the law and know you have to leave by september29.
Me: I know and i am not staying that long. Then she stamps my passport and son's
CBP: you declared food? what food is it
Me: its grinded corn called pap, looks like custard when you make it
CBP: whats it for?
Me : for lactation when the baby comes
CBP: does it work? i gat to try it
Me: sure it does

she then asked me to get my bags and at the second gate i met an officer who only asked if my hubby is coming, if i had my first child in the US and i should fill a form where i stated the exact amount of money i had on me.

No documents checked, i was even over prepared for them. nothing asked about hospital or doctor.

Had my first appointment at Wyckoff, same experience as remzy2015, met a midwife who accepted some tests i brought and asked that i do others. paid only the $130 for the visit. Met Christine too and she confirmed there are no hidden charges except the baby needs a hight level of care. I have not been given a doctor yet.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to notify the embassy of my intent in my travel plans. I was just issued a B1/B2 visa via Dropbox so i did not have opportunity to fully explain my purpose.I am pregnant now and we have decided to have our baby in the USA. I have contacted a hospital and doctor in the USA for this purpose and we have adequate finances to cover all expenses.

I understand my visa covers for this purpose but would like to request you kindly update my records to reflect this travel plans, I will still love to use the visa for vacation later within the validity period. Also please advise if there is any other thing i would need to do.

Thank you.

The above will do,it takes care of it.
