Mattkent:
The saddest part was that Sadiq hadn't noticed how Zeenat had changed him!

A week before Sadiq was to finally travel back to Lagos, he saw the weird women! This time he was prepared.

Passing by, he positioned his phone well enough to take a picture of them to show Kazim. They were sitting on a bench under a tree opposite Kazim's father house.

"She has waited more than a thousand years for him, that alone should convince him" one of them said and Sadiq took the picture and raced to show Kazim.

"Here! I took their picture. The strange women!" showing Kazim.

"Are you all right?" asked the irritated Kazim.

"Why? Yes I'm. Do you know the women? I over heard them saying some strange things" Sadiq.

"You snapped the sun and you tell me that you snapped some old women who are saying weird things. I think you are the weird one!" Kazim angrily.

"What do you mean i snapped the sun?" Sadiq grabbed his phone to look at the picture and to his surprise it was a bright light he saw, like the sun.

He knew he had taken the picture very well, the camera wasn't even facing the sky!

Confused he raced outside to check if the old women were still there but they weren't. He advanced to the position that they were before and took a picture same way he had done.

The image appeared. So why didn't the old women appear!?

Baffled, he took a picture of the sun just to check if he had mistakenly done that. The picture of the sun wasn't even as bright as the bright light that appeared when he snapped the old women!

He became very frustrated. First he couldn't figure what was going on and second Kazim probably thought he was insane!

He decided that since the old women were making him look like an insane fool he was going to appraoch them when next he sees them and interrogate them.

Unfortunately till the day he was set to travel to Lagos the old women didn't show up again.

"So it's today isn't?" Humaira asked Sadiq. And they chatted like the first day he had come, the difference was that he was leaving.

"Yes" replied Sadiq. There was a little akward silence till Anty and the rest of the family showed up to wish him a safe trip.

After they were gone he was alone packing while Kazim was in the car waiting to drive him to the airport.

"Sadiq yena gidan?" Zeenat asked Kazim in their native dialect.

"Yena ciki" he replied.

Strangely that was the first conversation Sadiq heard from Zeenat
the first day he came when he heard her asking Kazim if Humaira was at home. But only that this time she was asking Kazim if Sadiq was at home.

Five minutes later Kazim saw Zeenat walk out hurriedly and then increased her steps till she was almost running.

That was strange! thought Kazim.

Few minutes later Sadiq was set to go. As the car moved, Sadiq saw the window blind pull open, it was Humaira.

'I'm so going to miss her' thought Sadiq sadly and waved at her. Knowing that she was caught peeping, she waved back.

"I would have loved to go by train instead of by air. You know, just to enjoy the road trip and see places" Sadiq

"Your definition of adventure and fun is crazy" laughed Kazim.

"I'm not that crazy am i" Sadiq asked and joined in the laugh.

"Maybe a little!"

"Yes anyway adventure is meant to be crazy" said Sadiq and added while pointing "please pull over i need to buy something from the mall for Asmau".

Country mall is one of Kano's most famous mall if not the most famous. And the inside had a very beautiful look.

"So what happened between you and Zeenat?" asked Kazim when they were back in the car.

"Why? What did she tell you?" Sadiq

"Nothing. I just saw her run off" replied Kazim. "I thought it was strange because she looked sad"

Contemplating on whether to reveal what happened he pleaded with Kazim. "Please don't let anyone else hear this because that will be very unfair to her"

"I promise. Trust me" assured Kazim.

"Okay. She told me that she loves me" Sadiq announced.

The surprised Kazim almost lost hold of the car wheel.

"Good for you! And what did you say to her?" Kazim excitedly.

"I told her thank you!" Sadiq.

"You said what?! Are you crazy?" Kazim was surprised and at the same time angry.

"Yes i know. That's exactly what i thought. Thank you were the words that found their way out of my mouth. I couldn't say back the words and she walked away" narrated Sadiq.

"She must feel terrible right now! Do you know what it takes for a girl to be the first to say those words to a guy?" Kazim

"Thinking of it now i feel like a terrible person. But i can't tell her what i don't feel." Sadiq thoughtfully.

"But i thought you loved her? I thought she was the reason why you decided to stay back here for two more weeks even though you hated it here" the confused Kazim asked.

"Its complicated" was his reply.

"Probably that's how complicated it was when you told Vanessa that you loved her and she didn't give you an answer. Now you understand how she must have felt" Kazim, playing the moral hero.

"Yes. You're right. I must apologise to Vanessa for shutting her out." Sadiq sadly. "I'll call Zeenat when i get home"

"There's no need. It's not like you are ever coming back" Kazim as they hugged eachother.

They arrived at the airport almost a minute late from the departure time. Sadiq sprinted off while Kazim shouted.

"Don't worry i will help you check your result when it comes out, just to have a good laugh at it".

So its bye to kano now. What an adventure!

Sadiq left Lagos by saying 'i love you' to Vanessa and she didn't give him a reply and he leaves kano with 'i love you' from Zeenat and replied her by
saying 'thank you'!

Now which is worse?!

It was almost 6 pm when Sadiq paid Vanessa a visit. He couldn't wait till tomorrow. He had already prepared a speech and wanted to give it as soon as possible.

He rang the door bell. Two minutes later a girl wearing a maid's uniform appeared.

"She dey her room" the maid informed him when he got in.

"Don't tell her I'm around. I want to surprise her" he said tiptoeing to her room like a thief in the night. The maid chuckled.

As he was about opening her door he heard voices from within.

"I'm not telling you" he heard Vanessa's voice say.

"Do you want me to beg?" the other voice asked.

"No! Please don't" laughed Vanessa. He didn't know if to continue his mission or forfeit it. He made up his mind, knocked thrice and opened the door.

Vanessa was backing the door but she was quick to turn as the door opened.

"Oh my God! Sadiq!" she screamed, running to hug him.

"It's only been weeks" said Sadiq at the overwhelmed Vanessa.

"To me it's been years" she said, observing him.

"I thought you were with someone?" he asked

"Oh i was skyping with Majid Majid. We just ended our conversation right now" she said pointing to her laptop then pushed him to a chair while she sat on her bed. "When did you arrive? I'm
surprised you came to see me considering what happened."

"About that i just want to say I'm sorry for putting out the words out there that day. And also for ignoring you all those times. It took me sometime to realise that I'm suppose to be a friend and not what my silly head suggested" and that was the speech he wrote.

Vanessa stared at him in dismay. "This is definitely not the Sadiq i use to know!"

"Or rather this is the Sadiq you use to know before the unfortunate incident" Sadiq.

"Hmm...true. Friends?" asked Vanessa putting her hand forward.

"Friends" confirmed Sadiq. And everything was back as it use to be.

"Good" said the relieved Vanessa. "Because there are many things i have been dying to tell you"

"Before you do i have some questions i have been dying to ask you too" Sadiq.

"What?"

"The news blast, the one you were allegedly said to have been caught taking drugs" Sadiq.

"Oh that!" said Vanessa waving her hand, regarding it as if it was a trivial issue.

"Yes that"

"It wasn't true. I mean it was but i wasn't actually taking it."

"I don't understand" Sadiq

"I just wanted the media to pay me attention." Confessed Vanessa.

After a little thought, "I get it. So that was why you visited that orphanage home to make the media praise you and then you turned around to do something real bad so it escalate faster and make them talk about you more!" figured Sherlock Sadiq.

"You've spent too much time with me and now you think like me. I couldn't have explained it better" she admitted.

"You are more crazy than i thought!" lamented Sadiq

"Every celebrity is. I'm not the first" Vanessa.

"But you can be different. Staying relevant to the media and people doesn't have to involve you creating a bad image for yourself" preached Sadiq.

"I missed you" was her reply. Yes she did. Sadiq unending brotherly/friendly advice plus saving and protection was what kept her away form drugs and embarrasing herself in the media.

Jessica was her devil while Sadiq was her angel. We all have these two!

"So Asmau's birthday is around the corner" Sadiq.

"Yes i know. Hope you guys are preparing for her drama!" Vanessa.

"Well she told me she has a tiny little wish. But knowing her well its nothing like that" Sadiq.

"I just love that girl!" laughed Vanessa."I'm going to get her a nice gift"

Later that night.

"I love your dairy. Its like reading a story" complimented Asmau handing it back to him.

"Really!" remarked Sadiq. "Well thank you"

"Did you tell her?" Asmau

"Tell who what?" Sadiq.

"Humaira. I read the part where she covered you well with the duvet and whispered goodnight. Did you tell her the next morning that you weren't fully asleep? asked Asmau.

"No i didn't" he replied while replying back messages on bbm.

"But why didn't you let her know that you saw her?" Asmau, as though Sadiq's life had become a Soap opra.

"I just didn't" Sadiq almost engrossed with his phone and hadn't realized when Asmau was leaving his room.

"Hey where are you going?!" he asked.

"Sleep" she replied.

"Are you angry? Okay come I'll drop my phone" he said

"No i really want to sleep." she said and added. "Maybe you can tell me tomorrow"
