My story is simple

I experienced it once when I was about 7 years old. I was running an errand for my mum and decided to choose a shorter route. I was singing and excited for a reason I cannot remember. Then I passed in-between two uncompleted buildings. The fences were so narrow like typical Lagos buildings.

Suddenly, I looked up and saw a dog staring at me. Then it started walking towards me. Very narrow wall. I froze. I stopped singing. I started crying. The dog walked closer looking mean and angry. I ran. The dog barked and ran after me.

Then I fell. The dog charged towards me and barked right at my face. Then it climbed over me and went the other way.

For a young child, that was a terrible experience that gives me goose bumps each time I remember. I refuse to forgive that dog and every other dog. I cannot simply love a dog. It has become natural. I was disrespected, ridiculed and bullied by one of them without an apology!

Not true, sometimes you freeze and they still attack you. My encounter with dogs as a kid was always terrible, the first was wen I was in primary sch, was sent on an errand one evening nd the dog was lurking around a dark street, it started barking when it saw me nd I stopped and freezed, instead it ran up to me from behind and clinched my leg with its canine before I then took off, my mom raked the owner of the dog and nearly hammered somebody that day, till today the scars are still on my leg.

Another was when my friend told me to hold the chain of his dog because I was tryin to bring myself to love dogs, immediately I held the chain the dog pounced on me and I took off, after it tore the tshirt I was wearing.

The last encounter was when I went to see my godmother when I was in secondary school, the dog was in front of her house so I could not go in, luckily for me (that's what I felt), three men came to see her too, so they entered one after the other and the dog sat there watching, while I was about entering as the last person the dog just sprang up like the devil itself and chased me, while I was running I hit my head at the edge of a door and that's when the dog stopped chasing me, when I got outside I discovered I had a deep cut on my fore head and blood was gushing out like a spring, I dis-godmothered that lady that very day, till today that scar is still on my forehead. Still on still I'm still planning on getting a dog someday.

The only detail I rremember is that I was ontop of a volkswagen beetle that I can't remember how I climbed during the 'hot chase' for close to an hour and the ogbanje dog kept barking and running round the car. I cried for Antarctica.

These are the craziest, most aggressive dogs you'll ever meet in your life.

One day I was coming back from an errand and as I entered the gate the 5 dogs charged at me with the whole neighbourhood screaming at me to climb a tree, but it was too late. I was dead meat! Somehow the idea entered my mind to start grabbing handfuls of sand off the ground and throwing at them. For some reason it worked, they got scared and backed off just long enough for me to scamper up the closest calabash tree. I for die that day.

Immediately i stepped into the compound i realised the dog was unchained. I halted and turned back immediately but not before noticing that the dog was already coming after me.
Adrenaline kicked it and i immediately took to my heels but a fraction of a second later, i was like, If i keep running this dog go pursue me round this street and spoil my reps.
So i decided i was gonno face the dog squarely. I then stood and was waiting for the dog to emerge from the bend ( Yes o!! my intention was to fight the dog)
Funniest shit happened.. dog emerges in full speed, sees me standing waiting for it, then screeched, turned back and went back inside the compound.

I still remember that day. It was in 2003 when i lost my mum and my grandmum asked my dad to bring us to be staying with our uncles while my dad returns to gombe state.

On that fateful day, my uncle sent me to buy kerosine.

On my way, i was attacked by this ugly looking ekuke local dog. Y'all know how local dogs use to be very fierce in those days unlike these days.

So i picked race and ran back home. My uncle got mad at me and started saying i won't eat if i don't go out and buy the kerosine but for where? I on gree in.

He got angry and snatch the gallon and money from me and headed out angrily.

Not up to a minute i started gearing foot steps and someone calling my name to please open the door.

I looked through the window and saw my tall uncle running for his dear life and that same dog was chasing him!

In my childish thinking, i ran locked the door with keys so that the dog doesn't come in when i open the door.

Na so uncle bang the door like say he wan break am but i no send. Oboy, nobody told him to run go enter our neighbour's house... Smh

In Lagos when I was in pry3 and went to pickup my lil sis from school she was in nursery2.

There was this compound that had many dogs near her school. I used to pick up stones that I will use to stone them through the gate bars. So any time they saw me they will start barking.

On this day after picking her on the way home. As usual I had my stones to stone them. They started barking but I was used to that I approached without any fear then the unthinkable happened. Somehow one of the dogs managed to come out then another one and started coming towards me and my lil sis. There was a gutter across the road with a fence behind the gutter. How I managed to jump across the gutter with my lil sis still baffels me today. The dogs after waiting for sometime left.

After that day I never took that road again.

I've been chased by too many dogs (different breeds), so i don't know where to start. However, I'll tell a funny story about a man (a plumber) who had an encounter to remember back in the day.
We lived in a compound of two bungalows, i and my family in one, and a neighbor and his family in the other. We (my family) had a dog named 'Kimbo', a dog that was hated and feared by all in the neighborhood because he was mean. There was this one time our neighbor had issues with his water tank, so he called a plumber to come to the house, and help fix it (our neighbor was at work). The man (plumber) came, but rather than wait outside and confirm that kimbo was on a leash, he just came right in to do his work. Luckily for him, kimbo was asleep (or not) when he stepped in, so he got right to work on the bad tank. I was inside, seeing a movie, when i heard the dog barking. I stepped out to see what was up, and i saw the funniest scene ever. Kimbo had broken his chain, and The 'brave' plumber was inside the tank, struggling to cover it with it's lid--- while shouting, 'jimbo', 'jimbo', jimbo'. I quickly walked to the scene, and took kimbo back into his house. The man later came out of the tank, and was dripping with sweat. It was a funny experience for me, and i and my siblings still laugh about it every time we remember it. Kimbo got old, and died.
