I was charged a total of #915 for using my access bank visa card on BOA ATM. I had to email excess bank and they said the extra $3 is "acquirer fee". I shaa know the Atm asked me to accept $3 charge before I could withdraw wch I accepted. Anyway, ain't using the card again as I was only testing the card for the first tym

WDear wisemen and women, i got a b1/b2 visa in may and went to the usa on vacation for 2 months. In my lastweek of vacation I discovered i was pregnant and immediately used that opportunity to register with a doctor in Nj and had my first appointment, also part paid the fees. Im due in April 2016 and would like to know if it's necessary to notify the embassy of change of intent for my return trip to usa in may and which cheap hospitals can be recommended in newjersey. I already have reciepts of payment from my doctors office and next scheduled appointment letter for january next year. Also must one buy a return ticket for childbirth trips.? Should i declare that i have already registered and attended doctors appointments in the usa already? Thanks

My dear wise ones i still seek your opinion on the questions asked earlier biko

My thot, you have your visa already, you have correspondences and receipts of part payment, that should suffice for POE, somebody just mentioned some 'affordable' hospitals in NJ like 2 posts before this, (St marys and St Barnabas I think)
Return ticket is a must if u don't have residency permit
Gurus I try? grin

you usually pay $500 for doctor Glenn as deposit before they send you their acceptance letter. they will later deduct it from your final balance as it is part of the doctor's fee you are supposed to pay. I am wondering why theirs no much talk about northwest houston medical center. The quotation from them is very fair from my calculation. Congrats firstymum and everyother person with great POE stories.

Peaceful2016:
Hello everyone,
For those who used Dr Glenn Morgan, did you have to pay an initial deposit?
In a previous email, they requested for my medical records which i sent. Then i just got an email to call their office to make an initial deposit so that i could get the acceptance letter. Kindly advise

what's their prediac bills like? i am looking for my Chase documents to send to you. might be of help. their savings account makes all the sense. you don't also have to deal with the 1500 with their checking account every month unlike BOA.

Hello mamas (and papas). Newbie here (although ive gone through both threads already so I almost feel like a veteran). Im due with my second in dec and the 2 birth centers I planned to use are now fully booked and have even jacked up their prices (I suspect you guys, cause they said they had an influx from nigeria).
Im a water birth mama so birth center is compulsory. Thinking of porting to Arizona (they have a couple of midwife groups that my former midwives highly recommend). Hubby is however afraid and thinks we should settle for home birth instead of going to a strange land. Please those that used MIHS, what was arizona like in terms of safety, ease of transport, shopping, things to do etc. Also are there any areas to avoid. Heard that mesa was a bit ghetto.
Thanks for your help and sorry for the long post.

Very well said, just to add to it. Just to be on the safe side you can also email the embassy telling them that you were issued a b1/b2 visa and you have used it for vacation but now want to use it for birthing, I'm sure you will get the generic reply.
Just like was mentioned above, return ticket is a must if you carry a 9ja kpali

Boss,
I stand corrected but I think that ban may not be applicable to everything ooh...
I have swiped my Stanbic card for transactions worth over $500.00 at a tyme.
I swiped it for car rental, and was still able to make purchases at the local groceries place all in a day...
@firsty is #high lets poke at her tinker with her BOP n make her blow a cap... cheesy

Nope!... I don't have a clue.
I'm just saying since we most usually take PTA for our trips (given d thought that PTA taken is not for miscellaneous) lil purchases can be done with naija cards while large amount denting can be directed to cash or otherwise...
It's all about perspective though..

Don't understand, but will attempt to answer using different scenarios.

If the transaction is eligible (e.g school fees, medicals e.t.c) for which you are able to provide your bank with appropriate documentation - they will credit the service provider directly, the rate used for that is the CBN official rate which is usually lower than PTA and MasterCard rates.

If the transaction is ineligible or no documentation, you cannot buy dollars at all officially and cannot do a transfer even if you source the dollars from parallel market. The recent CBN circular prohibits making wire transfer from cash deposits to domicilliary accounts.

If you receive inflows or export proceeds, you cannot just transfer, CBN regulates what such inflow can be applied to.

Just like I promised I used the west Houston birthing center and paid $3214, my tests from Nigeria was used. Scan was inclusive in d cost as Holly conducted 3 scans. I used a Jewish doctor for circumcision and paid $400 cos he came to my house but he normally charge $300, if u go to his place of practice. Had one pediatric visit plus one immunization which I paid $147. We had to go to d local government office to get an expedited bc as far one day was meant to be posted was delayed a bit cos of d mistake in d name from d birthing center. Hubby
was not comfortable sending baby's blue passport for visa so we got a letter from d Nigerian embassy in the form of an emergency certificate. We left for Nigeria exactly 4weeks after birth.

Please can you post contact details of west houston birthing center.
Thanks.
