Yes,but how will it cost to change the roof, windows and repaint it ? We need to understand the impact an environment has on a learning child. They can even make it a storey building. Obi did a lot with very little fund,so, I expect Obiano to do better. A building like that shouldn't still be standing at the almighty QRC.

Igbos are something else. The way we got here, its only God that knows. God just single-handedly blessed us and make us what we're today. It is important that our past can be transformed as strength of the future. If only we can get a good television station that can permeate through different important parts of the country, we can sell both our state and other igbo states too.

What we don't understand is this:

1. We're the highest population of people who had a republican system of government. The western media has turned it to under-civilisation but what people don't understand is that we can turn into an asset. Republican system goes a long way to show that we have been breeding people who can think for themselves, fend for themselves, protect themselves and still become successful without being ruled over.

2. The various wars we fought with the british i.e the ekumeku war and others can be sold as asset too. It will be shown to the world that we're strong and can make things happen when we put our minds to it.

3. We can buy this Equaino's book and try to rebrand it in such a way that it will buttress the fact that the igbos are strong were open to western education and seeking freedom since the time immemorial.

4. Germany, Russia and Poland still sell their war experiences and have used it to tell the world how they've grown past the destruction of the war and where they are at the moment. They show you war sites and call many people to tell war stories and how they ran for their lives. We will show people various videos of then and now, and tell people that many of the kwashiorkwor stricken people of yesterday have become billionaires in their own right. This goes to show how we've come to light after many years of darkness.

5. We sell the image of our greats. Tell the world what they have achieved but academic, business and other facets of life. Show the world how they were home-grown and what they've been doing.

6. We'll use this medium to shield the crimes in the east and bring the governors and senators to light. Show them the manufacturing power of our people.

7. Sell the image of our indigenous manufacturers and businessmen in our land. Show the world what we can manufacture and what we can do with our resources in the east.

8. Change people's perception about the east being an erosion site and show them what we can do in art. This will make our art and culture sector of our states wake up and this will make that industry boom too. If we have programmes in the week that can highlight our artistic prowess, we can drag development to the region.

9. Publicise awards in the east and for people from all works of life. Give awards to many of different regions and country. This will make us less tribalistic and more open to people. Give them award for no reason and make people see us as open people. But this award will be one thing everyone will be looking out for.

10. Make emotional documentary on how someone from grass to grace made it in the east through investing in the east. This will boost the image of the people.

Media is like light beaming on a particular people. When light is shown on you, you will behave well. This will make our youths behave well because light will be on them.

The east shouldn't breed mediocre station and mediocre journalists who can't "go there" or do something crazy to get reports. The east can be a stronghold of development if only we can get these things right.

They may think they won't get subscribers, the opposite will be the case.

God have mercy on Mr Peter Obi: Introducing the Real Peter Obi (2) By James Eze

The trouble with Peter Obi is that he was never able to rise above the pale of ordinariness in his eight years as governor of Nigeria’s most gifted state. He lacked the colour, the charisma and the carriage that should come with the governor of Anambra State – land of the brave. In fact, Peter’s personality was intensely antithetical to the fire and glory that are inborn to onye Anambra. Obodo ndi odogwu! Where we are gregarious, excitable and generous, Peter is reclusive, timid and parsimonious. He lacks the oomph, the finishing touches that set us apart from our Igbo brothers. All that Peter has is cunning, deviousness and doublespeak! Even the Ikemba Nnewi, saw that and recoiled from him. His wife, Iyom Bianca expressed horror when Peter’s cunning and deviousness finally unravelled and she was brilliant enough to describe the personage that emerged as “a food-is-ready-politician.” Peter’s transmogrification couldn’t have been better captured, really. Iyom Bianca holds the singular honour of finally peeling off the man’s hood and calling our attention to the Real Peter Obi!
But seriously, contrary to the illusion of grandeur his handlers paint for the people, Peter Obi’s greatest undoing as a leader is his inability to dream big dreams. In all of eight years, Peter was too timid, too tentative to really push the envelope of development in Anambra State. He cut the image of a frightened animal trapped in a cage of his own foreboding; unable to step beyond his own shadows. Dazed by the flashlight of his exalted office, he looked around him and noticed that Ngige had left a few good roads. He then decided to outstrip him by building more roads. And that was it. For him, governance does not go beyond the puny tokenism of building roads and handing out cheques to mission schools in the full glare of the camera. Peter has no capacity to dream gigantic dreams. No serious depth to project into the future and envision a place for himself, let alone Ndi Anambra. Like a petty trader selling provision in a kiosk on the corner, Peter only thought about the moment; what would sell today? So, while his peers like Godswill Akpabio were dreaming a whole new city into being in Uyo, Peter was busy stowing funds away to build Next Shopping Mall in Abuja.

And the more I press my mind on this subject, the more I realise that the trouble with Peter Obi is that even when providence placed him on the verge of greatness; he lacked the vision to identify it and make the most of it. Peter’s inability to appropriate the call of history took an embarrassing dimension when as a seven-term Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum; he failed to set any meaningful agenda for the region beyond the spineless, unquestioning support for any government in Abuja. Peter failed to interpret his role as Chairman of this Forum beyond narrow selfish interest. He lacked the deep thinking to elevate the conversation beyond the mundane and was content with playing suck-up to the president at a time when history had given him the rare privilege of leading a regional party and a regional forum of governors. He failed to articulate the anguish and aspirations of the region with the vigour and stridency that would force them onto the national roundtable. In fact, Peter never quite rose to any serious occasion in his time as the leader of this regional conclave of governors. Yet, in his time, the corpses of Boko Haram victims were ceaselessly flooding the South East. In fact, Adazi Ani, a neighbouring town to his Agulu community suffered a most horrendous loss of its indigenes in Mubi, Taraba State, to Boko Haram during Peter’s term. But sadly, not even that close call could provoke any sense of outrage from Peter. He failed to show leadership in the region in moments when people looked up to him for solutions, for assurances or even a hint of greatness. He failed woefully to use his historical position to lead his fellow South East governors into envisioning a new economic future for the region. Buying a few units of cars from Innoson is hardly enough.
Re: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by FreeGlobe(f): 8:05pm On Sep 26, 2015
Continued cc alfred5

The other embarrassing thing about Peter Obi is that as Chairman of South East Governors’ Forum, he could not lead his colleagues into fashioning out a regional response to the high threat of insecurity posed by kidnappers and violent armed robbers in South East Nigeria. Even when kidnappers drove out businesses in Onitsha, Nnewi, Aba and all over Igbo-land, the Peter Obi led South East Governors’ Forum was clueless as to how to tackle the menace as a region in spite of the obvious fact that movement is fluid across these homogenous states and criminals can strike in one state and take shelter in another. The few kidnappers’ dens that were pulled down in Peter’s Anambra were mere window dressing, conceived to give the illusion of seriousness when in fact, Peter was unperturbed by the scourge. When one considers the fact that the rest of the South East have always looked up to Anambra to provide leadership, the tragedy of having Peter Obi on the saddle as Chairman of the Governors’ Forum at a time when the region needed a strong and perceptive leader would become clearer.
Happily, his successor, Governor Obiano appears to be making up for Peter’s tragic flaws. His recent convocation of a Regional Security Conference for the South East and Delta State shows a remarkable breadth of vision that eluded Peter in all of eight years. And although Obiano is not the Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum, he has continued to show the sensibilities of a leader who knows his place in history and what should constitute the priorities to the people. His call, at the conference, for an economic agenda that would ensure the emergence of a robust economic zone for the South East and Delta is in tune with the general mood of the region and marks him out as a perfect replacement for Peter’s uninspiring leadership.

Viewed against this backdrop, it becomes clearer why Peter Obi has recruited a band of idle youths and commanded them to tear his successor to shreds on social media? Any wonder why he should harbour such a strong resentment for a man whose performance has masterfully consigned ANIDS and the network of tacky roads it sired to a mere footnote of history in less than one year?
Let me clear my throat a bit, please. And that brings me to Obi’s “famous” frugality. Frugality is a great quality. The tragedy is that Obi does not have it. What Obi has is parsimony. Parsimony is an entirely different quality. Now, Peter Obi’s parsimony is frightening and reprehensible. He is a minimalist; stowing things away like a squirrel in a little nest – waiting for the rainy day while the land wilts with hunger. Chukwuma Soludo’s anecdote in his now famous treatise on the last general elections titled Buhari vs Jonathan: Beyond the Election lends us a perfect lens to visualize the irony of
Peter’s matchbox economics. Soludo likened Peter’s chest thumping over his disputed frugality to the funny wisdom of “a father who had no idea what to do with his resources and was celebrating his fat bank account while his children were dying of kwashiorkor.” No description of Peter’s hilarious understanding of modern governance could have been more apt than this. No leader who has a modest understanding of statecraft should indulge in self-adulation when he ran a state for eight years and left no befitting capital and no noticeable symbol of pride for the people. Such a leader should not be taken seriously if his only claim to fame is a dubious N75bn he purportedly left behind.
In conclusion, it is doubtful that he has realised it but the fact that the only legacy that Peter Obi has continued to wave in the face of the people since he left office is the empty claim of a N75bn is a sad reminder that his eight years in office lacked the force of a big idea. In other words, Peter left Ndi Anambra with no memento and no monuments. And as the rains continue to wash off his poorly constructed roads, Peter and his team of stragglers and hagiographers will continue to sweat under the pressure to find something to point at as a good reminder that his years in Agu Awka were not in vain. And like an ill prepared magician who has come to the end of his wits, Peter must find a new trick to entertain his thinning audience before he is left with only himself to please.

IGBOSON1:
$150m automobile plant

THE Anambra State Government in partnership with Richbon Group is to establish $150 million automobile assembly plant, specifically for bulldozers and other forms of ‘earthmovers.’

Speaking during the stakeholders meeting in Awka yesterday, the Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Town Planning, Stella Onuora, disclosed that the project site is located at Ozubulu-Eziora boundary in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the State.

Onuora appreciated members of the community for their keenness in providing land for development, stressing that the project would be of immense benefit to youths.
She also disclosed that the state government did not collect money for the project, but encouraged partnering investors through its equity contribution in the form of the free Certificate of Occupancy granted in respect of the land and creation of access road to the project site.

Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Chief Joe-Billy Ekwunife, said the team, as directed by Governor Willie Obiano, had visited the community to urge youths to cooperate with the investors to commence work. Ekwunife stressed that the community would get five per cent of the investment cost, in addition to 35 per cent of the proposed 70 per cent direct and indirect job opportunities that will be created from the project.

In a remark, the Ekwusigo Local Government Council Chairman, Chief Jude Mbaegbu, expressed gladness that the project was being actualised under the purposeful leadership of governor Obiano. He added that the project had long-term benefits for infrastructure and job for youths.

Traditional ruler of Ozubulu, Igwe Oruche, said his community had always been desirous of providing land for infrastructural and human capital development, but lamented that failure of past administrations to actualise such projects had made youths suffer joblessness.

Orunche expressed the optimism that the state government’s commitment to security and the proactive disposition of ANSIPPA would go a long way in bringing immediate positive result and jobs for youths. He pledged support and cooperation of members of his community for the new investors.

Sure-p Suspends Three Over 'Willie Is Working' Inscription On Water Ambulance

Few days ago, Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra State commissioned some water ambulances for use in the river line areas.

Ever seeking other people's projects to take glory of his people, according to well laid plan, threatened to saturate the social media with the posting about the event. When I saw it, I was happy and was actually about congratulating them for getting that one right. Criticisms is good when the critic commends what is good.

I was disappointed that it turned out that the ambulances were actually procured by Sure-P.

Why would a responsible Government behave that way? When people write about it, e-rats will say they are disrespectful of a man who has not for a moment respected himself.

Thanks to APGA Interactive group that called for probe on how the inscription of 'Willie Is Working' got to the Ambulances.

After thorough investigations, Sure-P has immediately suspended three of its staff that were found to receive money from Anambra State government to allow that inscription.

Sure-P has also called on Anambra Government to suspend two of her staff that collaborated with Sure-P people.

When Obiano does a thing like this, he forces people to remember that he is yet to complete any project, even when some new Governors completed many in 100 days. He is only busy claiming and commissioning people's projects.

A simple test:
1. Name projects completed by Obiano
2. Name other people's projects Obiano has claimed as his own..

Are you aware this article is coming from obiano's media aide? cheesy cheesy

THE FIRST LAW OF 48 LAWS OF POWER "Never Outshine the master" and don't fight what you cannot finish.
"I must also thank the critics of my administration for providing the sharp edges that have helped us to keep our eyes on the ball; reminding us that governance is a social contract between the state and its citizens and that the power we exercise truly belongs to the people. I must thank my brother and predecessor, former governor Peter Obi who as the first APGA governor laid a good foundation for my administration to continue the journey for a better Anambra State. Government is a continuum and though administrations may come and go; the concept of the organised society and the merits of purposeful leadership shall never change.
"Ndi Anambra, when we took over the reins of leadership one and a half years ago, we realised that my predecessor had done a lot of work in the aspect of setting the fundamentals or what I call the Enablers. Obi had laid a good foundation with the return of mission schools to their original owners and provided the necessary funding for a sustainable development in education." "We found that he had laid the basic foundation for us to build on and justify my campaign Promise of Continuity. We remain grateful to him and his team for their great service to Anambra State.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I think we should put our hands together for Peter Obi and his team!"
~Gov. Willie Obiano (Governor of Anambra State addressing the Anambra Stakeholders today at the Governor's Lodge, Amawbia.

EDUCATION: Obi's legacies can no longer be maintained.

With the recent release of WAEC and NECO, it has clearly shown that the good legacies being suffered and put in place by the Obi's administration in the gigantic growth, development and strategic ideas of the Education of the people of Anambra state can no longer be maintained by the incumbent administration occupying the Agu-Awka house.

The Education sector should have been the main point of interest for this administration as it was one of the top priorities of the Obi's administration which earned Anambra respect and goodwill than focusing on mounting of 'billboards'' in all spaces of the states and coaching of praise singers that do the state no good and contributes the the failure of the government with their flamboyancy, callous and arrogant actions.

WHEN THE 'LEADER' WAS IN PLACE:

“Obi’s commendable performance in office led us to classify his government as reformist,”

-Dr. Richard Montgomery
Head of Affairs and Country Representative of DFID
---------------

“Obi is a thinker who deploys ideas trying to change the value frame of his people so that they can achieve longer sustainable values.”

-Prof. Pat Utomi
----------------

“I am delighted to learn that Anambra is among UNICEF’s strongest partners in Nigeria. I commend Obi for his commitment to children, prompt payment of counterpart funding, involvement in the development of education, scaling up of skill acquisition centres and giant strides in the Milennium Develoment Goals and leadership in Water and Sanitation Programme,”

alfred5 this is the continuation of obiano's speech at the event.. This speaks volumes..

Obiano: The Anambra that we Met

It was no surprise to realize that we inherited a state that was unsure of itself …a state that lived in fear – fear of kidnappers, violent armed robbers, brutal drug dealers and several child-trafficking syndicates. The dread of kidnappers chased many illustrious citizens away and forced most families to conduct traditional marriages away from their ancestral homes. We inherited a state that had yet to plan its future along the lines of its natural endowments and the talents and abilities of its human capital. We inherited a proud people who had no proud capital city that would reflect their sense of worth as great pioneers and merchants of light in the whole of West Africa. But perhaps more pointedly, we realised that our people wanted a new order in their lives. They wanted a new approach to governance, a new vision of society and perhaps more importantly, a new sense of freedom. They wanted to be able to give their children out in marriage under the wise gaze of their elders in their ancestral homes. And quite interestingly, we discovered that Anambra’s numerous billionaires wanted to bring their investments home but did not feel safe enough to do so. Ndi be anyi, we inherited a society where successful citizens drove around in tight security convoys and wiling sirens that drive home the general sense of disorder! A society living on a knife edge!

And yet some people are celebrating a governor who ran this same state for 8 good years.. no wonder....
