State govt, ASIEUR Ltd signs MOU on construction contract The state government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ASIEUR International Limited group, a subsidiary of affordable building projects in Ireland, to construct ten thousand housing units in the state. The MOU was signed during the EXCO meeting at the Government House Awka. Ngozi Obileri reports that the signing of the MOU brings to three the number of such agreements in housing construction for the benefit of Ndi Anambra. The housing unit will be spread among five tranches with each of tranches having two thousand housing units, starting with Awka capital city. Signing the documents, Governor Willie Obiano recalled that EFAB group has been in the state to construct ten thousand housing units, while the state government has equally signed an MOU with COTAB group, an indigenous investor, to construct two hundred housing units in the state, all aimed at ameliorating the plight of civil servants regarding housing in the state. Governor Obiano said the ASIEUR in addition, construct road drainages, and provide water and electricity for the housing units and urged the investors to quickly mobilize to site. Earlier, the Chairman, Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency ANSIPPA and traditional ruler of Umuoji Igwe Cyril Enweze, said the concept will, among other things, provide affordable houses that would reduce cost and conform with the international building standards. He added that the state government has mapped out two hundred hectares of land, where forty hectares will be used for each of the twenty-one thousand units to be constructed, while the total investment is four hundred and seventy six point one million dollars at each of the five tranches. According to Igwe Enweze, when completed the housing units will promote urban development, modernization and good housing for Ndi Anambra. The group’s consultant Dr. Collins Okehie said they had toured some parts of the state and found out that Governor Obiano is doing a wonderful job which, he said, informed President Muhammadu Buhari ‘s decision to brand Anambra the best managed state in the country. Contributing, the Managing Director of ASIEUR group, Mr. Tony Duucam, expressed joy for partnering the state, noting that his contract will last for five years, adding that he has relocated to Nigeria, so that he will be on ground to monitor the project. Mr. Duucan expressed the hope that their collaboration with the state will be laudable and appreciated the Nigerian Ambassador to Ireland through whom he got the connection to visit Nigeria. In a vote of thanks the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Engineer Frank Offor said housing is sensitive to the Obiano administration which is why the Governor is bent on providing quality houses at affordable prices for Ndi Anambra and thanked the investors for having interest in the development of the state.

A Great lady Posted on Facebook: Do you know Hong Kong is a region inside China? I use to think Hong Kong was a country of its own... #OlodoLikeMe Chinenye what do you want? I want a HONG KONG IN NIGERIA FIRST, where do you want it located ? In South east and some part of South south (that's if they want it) .. Now that's the kind of BIAFRA I WANT, AN ECONOMY BIAFRA.. I want a HONG KONG IN NIGERIA.. Bishop42:Bishop, I always love your ideas, but in this case, you are comparing apples and oranges. Hong Kong governs itself and does everything a country will do EXCEPT call itself a country at the UN. Southeast Nigeria DOES NOT have such privileges. So, this comparison is misplaced. If Nigeria were structured in a way the regions will dictate their own development AS IT WERE AT INDEPENDENCE, then your conclusion will makes sense. But, we practice a unitary style of government called the Federal government that dictates everything from Abuja, dictates which airport can be called international, which seaports can be international and which states to approve refineries and power plants for etc, etc, etc. As long as we are in such primitive arrangement where Hausa and Yoruba will hide behind "Federal Government' to deny the SE any meaningful attempt at economic development, your comparison with Hong Kong doesn't make sense. |

Aku ezu ozo only appears at the Uzoiyi festivals, the ancient masqurade opens the Uzoiyi ground before other masqurades and dances again in the end. Its a legendary masqurade with the ichi scarification and full feathers of a complete titled Igbo man. Everybody who have seen the legendary masqurade will testify to it great and majestic appearance. |

America-based doctor builds houses for widows in Anambra OCTOBER 21, 2015 : A Nigerian medical doctor based in the United States of America, Godwin Maduka, has built no fewer than 100 bungalows for widows and other indigent persons in his Umuchukwu community in Orumba South Local Government Area of the state. Umuchukwu, a boundary community between Anambra and Abia State, is relatively rural. An excited native of the community said, “Today, there is no more thatched house in the community. Maduka has replaced every thatched house in the area with three or four-bedroom bungalows. “About 100 of such buildings are currently in place in the community. They belong to the indigent natives, especially widows. “All such buildings carry green aluminum roofing sheets for easy identification and beautification of the place.” Maduka explains his philanthropic gesture, saying, “I embarked on all these to save my people from my ugly experience while growing up. I grew up in a home that when it rained, it rained more inside than house. “Wealth would be meaningless if it cannot be used to better the lives of the people around the custodian. “The wealthy must provide jobs for the youths; build skills acquisition centres for willing adults, market stalls for men and women, if society must be secure,” he said. His Personal Assistant, Vincent Otaokpukpu told Southern City News that “Maduaka has opened up Umuchukwu by building schools, hospitals, churches, security posts, industries, police station with modern working tools.” “He believes that government alone cannot give resounding development due to its meagre resources when compared to the volume of social, economic amenities expected by the people. “Umuchukwu, one of the most backward and remote communities in the state, was totally denied any meaningful government attention. Nkerehi, as it was then called, was in abysmal destitution. Otaokpukpu maintained that Maduka’s gesture compelled former governor of the state, Mr. Peter Obi, to construct two roads connecting Umuchukwu with other communities. “When the foundation visited then governor Obi at the government house in Awka with the pathetic story of the absence of roads in the area, it promised to finance 50 per cent of the road contract, while the state would pay 50 per cent. He said, “Obi, moved by such an offer, decided to visit the community himself and what he saw overwhelmed him and he took sole responsibility of building the two roads alone. “The foundation has also built community centre, post office, a state High Court, provided transformers for electricity, primary and secondary schools, civic centre and so on.” Otua ka esi eme ya na Anambra State......In Anambra of Today, Your money is useless if you do not invest or help people in the State!.
