The Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal has sacked Nyesom Wike as the Governor of Rivers State.
The tribunal, which delivered its ruling in Abuja on Saturday, also ordered that a fresh governorship election be conducted in the state.
The petition challenging the election of Mr. Wike as Rivers State Governor was filed by Dakuku Peterside, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the election.

The Rivers governorship election, which was criticised by local and international observers, [size=14pt]witnessed the largest amount of violence both in its build-up and after the elections.[/size]

I just dont understand how sane and educated people should be supporting that kind of election and be lying to our faces that the election was peaceful and Wike was validly elected.

We must as a people set a precedence that is decent and defensible.

If we allow the GEJ regime to go away with the bastadized elections in Rivers and Akwa Ibom, how can we justly prevent PMB from doing his own in the future??

Listen people. This is not about ethnicity and bigotry! It is about setting the records straight!

Only elections that substantially follows due process must stand! (perfect election is quite impossible)

Infact I will even love to see a Nigeria where election riggers and manipulators are disqualified from running in a rerun, this will make those desperate politicians think well before throwing caution to the wind. Thank you. The violence and killing was terrible and out of this world even by Nigerian standard. Wike, the murderous thug, took it very personal. I remember Buhari being very emotional when he said the injustice in Rivers will be corrected. that was when I knew Wike was in trouble. GMB, the president-elect at the time, was clearly very troubled. Nigeria does not need the likes of Wike leading them. His people may have chosen him but he should not be allowed to get away with wasting innocent lives, all for the sake of politics, while him and his own are cosseted in luxury everyday.

David Cameron, UK PM, called GEJ, who was reluctant to concede victory, to promise him he would face ICC prosecution, like Charles Taylor, if his attempt to sit tight and cling to power, even when Buhari had clearly won, led to violence and death. You guys are 100% sentimental and 0% pragmatic. GEJ was always about his own self-preservation ahead of anything else. He did not want to leave and was ready to fight dirty and this started with the Orubebe show of shame while results were being announced. Believe what you want anyway. You never do reality.
