I clearly understand Chicagomum's point. Justwise raised the issue of the difference between personal reviews and 3rd party reviews. I also did, as some others too. She's responding in line with Justwise's request for suggestions on how to put this whole brouhaha behind us. On the other hand, I appreciate Nef's point and the importance of reviews warning you of what you may expect if you use a certain practitioner. Very important, afterall many of us look out for negative reviews before purchasing a product. Moreso when it's an issue of life and death. So in the end, we may not be able to limit reviews to personal experiences afterall. Especially when they can potentially save lives. However, a 3rd party review on cost and accommodation is another matter. At end, it may come to depend on Justwise's judgement to separate the wheat from the chaff. Just like it was in part one. |

Hey Justwise, I think you have a good head on your shoulder even thou your agidi plenty small. I think if anyone has any form of info, let them post it in the forum for you and us to dissect and do with it as necessary since this is your thread. The moment you see PM me, i beg of you, kindly delete the info especially if it has to do with hospitals, cost and procedure. If you can't share any info here without PM me, please keep such info to yourself. About you considering advertisers, don't worry.. the traffic this website gets will take care of the advertisers. a lot of people find it difficult to read from part one.. they will click on those adverts. Chicagomum:Why are you catching feelings & seeking clarification exactly .. If you see bite mark on someone & you are told a dog bit him or her, cos you didn't witness it, it makes it invalid, right ? Leave matter for mathias, we saw the mess & part of the gbese was paid while we were there!! You already have a place in sync with your budget, stay with that. 3rd party, 57th owanbe, review is review!! Service failure is SERVICE FAILURE. |

@all, there's a reality check y'all need to wake up to. ... 1. There will be leaches, lurkers, spammers, genuine users who take n don't give back, trolls, agents, commissioners. ..there's NOTHING n NO WAY they can be eliminated. .checked yes buh elimination mbah.. 2. We need to understand that we read, get the logic of things and source out better deals for our own betterment and cost effectiveness and afterwards throws it out there for others to enjoy as well. ..thanks to the likes of phema tvegas whose info shines all around this thread. ..now whether or not these info are stolen and/or agents n d lines make a tonne of moni of it is really none o' our business because bottom line is reason why we sourced d info in the first place had been actualized. 3. now this maybe perceived as negative or otherwise, nerf n MO. .. (nerf categorically stated she's been hiding info on Chicago) truly lemme start with acknowledging and commending on ur effort zeal n concoction you put into having ur way around Chicago. .truly I'm impressed. However I have noticed from ur subtle comments n implications here and there that yo both are quite sentimental and hold the info n way they are used pretty close to ur hearts. ..no be so oooh. ...even if it's only you that eventually chops d Chicago area. ...u will still not want to go more than 7 missionary journeys ...then of what use is the info to u.. U see d case of almost 90 percent of NL reference n concerns phema for the impact on their life and age doesn't come here ranting about agents stealing her info for personal gains. .u just can't help it when it comes to that. ... So please madams I beg u to tender mercy with justice. ....Pirates are here to stay we can only but rose above them by training newbies not to fall prey n decline dia mkt. .. Thanks again at justwise for your consideration. .u the man meehn... Congrats to y'all. ..veterans, recents, hopefuls. ..newbies. ..trolls, lurkers agents (small small we go sieve una out)... best of luck |

The posting of cost and hospitals is our main ish... We advocate "personalised" Hospital experience be posted not I got info on this Hospital pm me for details... If u haven't used the hospital and gotten ur zero balance on ur hand (lol) don't lead us there... So one isn't forced into Medicaid (lol). not a flimsy phone call or incomplete info to d Hospital without being sure bout everything ( bills, documents) then one newbie ( not me) will go and b thoroughly surprised. Is it now an issue to seek clarification? If you know my clarification doesnt go well with you please jump and pass. Its not mandatory you comment. Fyi when changing rules and policies you look at all angles so that updates are all encompassing. I believe Justwise has gotten the message and would tell us what will be allowed. modath: |

I am lost... please break down your message but before you do that please read Justwise's messages in the last 2 days and also read mine. It seems you are commenting without facts. firsttymum: |

Chicagomum:huh my reply to ur msg before this was d kiss smiley. Not what I typed just before mentioning u. If u notice the msg doesn't relate to whatever point u r trying to make. I'm more for the postin of Hospitals and costs (transparently) than review... Btw why do u av a problem with reviews? Except I'm misunderstanding u.. Scratch that don't bother answering |

I was wondering o.. ![]() Why should I have an issue with reveiws. I do not have any issue with reviews. Reviews helped alot with my decision on what hospital to use Is there an issue with considering all angles as it relates with posting on the thread and coming up with an appropriate policy? I do not think we should look at only the costs issue. A hospital or doctor can be cheap but have very bad reviews. The reviews may even be more important than cost in some cases. firsttymum: |

I understand your POV, it's more complex than just sharing. My information will be totally useless because the doctor does not give intl patients appointment, we were referred based on familiarity, and Chicago POE is unfriendly. Also, if we share, and the hosp gets contacted, they will get conflicting information and it will look like we are liars. The doc is extra busy but took my case personally because of my history and her nostalgic allegiance to Africa. Infact it was a full team from her faculty that was dispatched to monitor and bring out this baby. Modath joined the party as my sister and because she was already in US with me. Infact I took her by the hand to the doctor before and said this is my sister from Africa. Infact, we were walking in for our hospital visits without appointments! (When you know the boss hehehe). Once they tell her we are around, she takes out some minutes to see us and if she is in surgery, her team members see us. They can't do this for everybody na. If one goes officially, omo na gbege! Bills of 31k and 34k will fly through your face, but we related personally with the doctor and her faculty. I remember on the operating table, they were showing students, "this is the bladder, this is the uterus..." We just offered ourselves to be case study! lol In this light it is impossible to share, my case was her pet project. The hospital management approved our bills before we delivered due to her influence and It is was done out of pity. And even I am moved to help someone out of pity, it means i have to reveal my true identity, send you to my cousin in Chicago in person who will now form 'ah doccie, this is my sister from Africa'. And really I cannot do that for anybody and inconvenience her even though she's an angel, there is a limit to human endurance. We were lucky with what we got. We even needed to get approval from the hosp management to return to Africa. Modath has mentioned identity the name of the hosp and actual cost of the hosp in a recent post. So my dear brother, my info will not benefit anyone, and don't mind us when we smirk about our chicago care. We are just basking in the euphoria that God favoured us and crowned our efforts with favour with the hospital and the doctor. My 1st post in part 2 about Chicago doctors still stand. There are awesome doctors and hospitals with fantastic prices scattered around, all in that post olokings: |

Hello great people, Been a silent reader on this wonderful thread and so it's time to give back. Arrived jfk on sunday afternoon using wheel chair service infact the wheel chair was used all the way from paris so that helped to save a lot of energy. Time for the miraculous poe experience at jfk; Cbp:hello ma'am Me:Goodafternoon Cbp:so why are you here? Me: on vacation and to have my baby Cbp:how much do you have? Me: $8200 Cbp: does that cover your bills Me: yes it does Cbp:ok make sure you pay your bills, place ur fingers on the scanner. Didn't send me for any other screening. while I was waiting for some guy to help pick up my luggages, their dog walked up to my bag and started barking, that was how I landed in agriculture. Checked but nothing removed! Off to chicago today! I appreciate you all for your wonderful contributions and comments, they helped a lot! |

My opinion to third party issues of Dr reviews. I hv been reading and following up on d argument and I hv my little advice to share. In life, we can learn thru third party experience esp as someone mentioned when it concerns life. U don't need to witness some things before u learn.the experience can come from sis, friends and in laws not basically from our first hand experience. So Just Wise, concern this too. ![]() |

Pls fellow mama that hv done c-section here, I hv a little issue bothering me. Am scheduled for my c-section tomorrow at 37weeks as am considered high risk due to protein in urine. My doc at WHMC told me not to take water from 12midnite today till tomorrow morning 9am when I will give birth. But when I had my son using emergency c-section at premier specialist hospital at vi 4yrs ago thru Dr iwuh he never mentioned that, giving that I gave birth on a Sunday evening that means I hv already chop my rice, with okpomo and drank water and I delivered around 5pm. Pls how did ur doc handle this no water issue before c-section as I normally take lots of water and I don't know how I will survive this throat dryness for hours unending. |

Enyinne:My dear, It wasn't easy o! But you have to manage because some people throw up during the procedure and if the epidural fails and they have to use general anaesthetics that is put you to sleep, if you throw up while under you can breathe in your stomach content causing mendelson syndrome which can lead to death. That is how my doc explained it to me,so I endured that hunger and thirst o! Please endure it is on for a short while and you will survive. @firsttymum pls correct me if am wrong |

#Neks dont worry all will be well. Though mine was not a 9ce experience. I had a 30cm ovarian cyst filled wt 3ltrs of fluid and cud burst anytime. While the baby was 10cm, i had to do a surgery at 5mths to get it out as it was getting bigger and feeding itself on preg hormones. Yours wont come to that by God's grace, the most important thing is that mother n Child r fine atbthe end of the day. That was the scariest period for me. My baby is hitting big number 2 soon. Sorry about the pain, but no need to freak out, all will be well. Right from the inception of my pregnancy i had cyst, infact it was the pain that led me to discover i was pregnant. I had 8 in my right ovary and 5 in the left, you can imagine my agony then, every night i end up in er, i ..... |

firsttymum:Personally I do not feel there is anything wrong in that...its business..its not charity,if he/she were to be your relative/friend that could have been different...its because d person needs the exrra cash that he/she was willing to open up her house to a stranger...I for one couldn't. In that instance you could have bargained and if it doesnt pay either party..u both bone,no big deal. That's what a lot of Nigerian students in the US do to make ends meet..and its not illegal. |

This is my 2nd (and last) missionary journey and I have gone through all 3 parts and read the thread daily; even though I got my visa (for birthing purposes) before I discovered it, and cant use the hospital info (im a waterbirth mama). If even I have found this thread so invaluable in terms of the richness of information provided, imagine all the mums looking for affordable yet tested hospitals or doctors the thread would have helped. Not to talk of those that come here looking for hospital and form life saving friendships. I adopt the submissions of phema in their entirety as though they were mine, and join the wailers to plead "Pls keep the thread alive". Not necessarily for you or me, but for those coming after. olokings: |

Enyinne:Guess the first cs was not scheduled & was an emergency. But when it's scheduled, dr's always play it safe & would rather you have an empty stomach cos some people throw up under anesthesia & could choke on their vomit. I had a scheduled induction last year when I had my baby in Methodist Sugarland and I was warned not to take anything from 12 midnight before coming to the hospital. Guess d dr decided dat cos if LO refuses to come out on her own, cs wld b d next option.I was induced at 2 am & LO didn't come till 4.30pm fortunately thru vaginal delivery tho ...but trust me, when the drama starts hunger will be your last worry. They likely will give you ice chips @ some point to snack on tho...lol |
