Ok. I think its time to share our story. In the spirit of giving back...

Though I have a nairaland account for many years, i became very active Sep 2015. I read all Part 1, some part 2 and have been up to date on part 3. That may explain why I might not have asked many questions as all of the info we used for our interview were detail we got from here. My wife is very busy so i do most of the reading. Anywhere? Bus, Toilet, kitchen, lunch time etc...lol. here goes our interview transcript....

VO: Good morning
Me & Wife: good morning
VO:why are you going to US?
Wife: For childbirth
Me: to visit my wife and witness the birth
VO: (looking surprise but straight face)....ok. have you contacted any doctor?
Me: Yes. (Pull out our burden of proof to show her doctors correspondence )
VO: Oh okay....Youre going to Houston Texas....now started the barrage of question....how much does hospital charge for CS, how much for epidural, how much for doctor fee,
Me: answered and then point to our budget sheet, doctor and hospital fee.
VO: what do you....tell me your role at work and hiw much you earn
Both: told her:
VO: where would you stay and how much for a day
Wife: told her we booked for 10weeks
VO: (looking surprised)....thats too cheap...are you sure
me: yes...we git a special discount....showed tge receipt.
VO: not satisfied. ....can i see your bank statements
Wife: hands over the doc
VO kept tyoing and checking thr statement lune by line.....then looks up. Left for a while to speak to a supervisor and came back...Im sorry i cannot complete your application now... we need to make some check further on this. ...Took the bank statements and gave us the pink sheet or so....stating application will go for admin processing.
Left with mixed feeling but we trusted God and thanked him cos we were not rejected. After, wifey bank called to confirm the bank where she got her statement...she told them and we waited again for another week. She asked why and the ank just said they are trhing to respond to the us embassey since the signature on the statement wasn't rregular. Then after 2weeks, wifey was called from visa office to come back any Tuesday by 1:30pm to complete the interview....i couldnt go so only wifey went since the VO said one of us can come. Wifey was then issued visa for both of us without issue.
Gods been good and thanks to all the comments and ideas shared here.
Surprisingly we got email from DR A of OMC office and that's what we used....i read she doesnt really send mails but we got after repeated calls to her office.
Just to point that we should remain honest no matter what and dont used any forged documents...these VO can go as far as checking to confirm whatever we say....the VO investigated our account statement and the accomodation we stated....

@firstymum, ozycy, phema, tvegas, favoredgal, mumtee, etc .....Thanks everyone. ...

will come back to share POE stories for her when she's there....traveling Jan....due in Feb

So sorry for the long post....Im going back to reading mode....

May God be praised fr a successful interview. Pls if I may ask, is your interview in Lag or Abj?? Also about the cheap accommodation thing, I wont mind their info O. Am using OMC also and due in Feb too. Prolly your wify and I can hook up. Still awaiting my successful interview also.

welcome to my world!

I have an 8mth old that weighs 12kg+ and carrying her is no joke.

Unfortunately I can't spare my stroller now, but if you can wait till Dec, that's when we're due back in Lagos and I plan to buy a lighter one so i'll have one extra to part with.

nefertitiram:
My people, especially the veterans...

Who will be nice enough to bless my life with a stroller? My job is very active and allows my baby roam with me, but her weight is not very friendly to my chest and back, sometimes I may need to have her next to me while I work and realised a stroller will solve my problem.

She is almost 3mths and weeighs 7.5kg.

So this is me saying

HELP A SISTER! cry
Those of you laughing at my predicament... yes, I can see you angry

Thanks a whole bunch Nairaland family, loads of info that helped in a lot many ways. Wifey delivered on Wednesday October 28th, went to vital records for the BC on Wednesday 5th Nov, BC info was yet to be forwarded by the hospital, so she went back to the hospital and expedited things and was told to check vital record back on Friday 6th after paying up the hospital bills. She went on Friday got the BC moved over to Nigerian house same day ! got the Naija passport after I had sent consent to them via email(as I am in Naija). Went to New York passport office on Monday 10th for d blue pali, was attended to and she opted for priority mailing instead of coming back next day (Lil one was demanding attention wink). The blue pali was delivered lastnyt (13th Nov) signalling the epilogue of the Big Apple waka. Exit mode to be activated by Friday. Very grateful to God Almighty for hitch-free delivery and every other blessing, Thumbs up to the Nairaland community & special mention TOBERMOM!

We celebrate you all.

Peace

Hello Zoemummy, How are you doing today? As for question asked go to University parkway on hwy 6 close to Walmart and Sam's club.

Go to BBVA compass bank their website is www.bbvacompass.com/
No-Fee Checking Account, Full-Service Free Checking Near You, Unlimited Checks, Bill Pay & More!Premium Checking Account,Earn Interest & Free Premium Checks,No BBVA Compass ATM Fees!

Go with your Nigeria passport and make sure you have a USA address.
You will be ask your Nigeria address, how much you make a year, how much your you have in assets which includes property, cars and others Etc. All calculated in dollars, Tell them how long you plan to stay and where you want your mails to be send to.
Make sure you are not below USA poverty level cos they also look at that.
You only need $25 to open up the account.

You can also open at Bank of American and Chase too but it will attract monthly service charge.
Also Check Wellsfargo I don't think they charge monthly service not too sure you can check them out too.

Hope was able to answer your question?

My husband just remindEd me, we have an old one at home that we used for my son (I thought we'd given it out), bought it for taking walks round the estate so it's not very rugged but can serve you while waiting for us.

If you're in Lagos, you'll have to pick from Yaba before friday cos he's traveling then.

You can PM me for more info if you're interested. Would've PM'd you, but I don't know how to smiley

Just to update
U can pay ur epidural before u leave the hospital for oakbend people. They'll come upstairs and collect cash sef if u have and give u ur receipt.
And like Ozycy said within 2days ur baby's birth certificate Is ready. Just check search for it on the website before going.

Thanks Ozycy....

Ozycy and shawlar.
Do u need to add infant ticket to urs before doing the passport? Or parents travel document is enough evidence to do the expedited
