well it's tough for guys to allow other guys especially richer ones buy gifts for your girl. It's an ego thing, wanting to be the alpha male and providing for your girl, like misspicy said you can return the gift that's if your man is worth it or even sell it if you don't want to lose out completely and if that's okay with your friend who gave you the gift. Your friend, is he in a relationship? Cos I think he's got plans to come for you next year

Do you know of anybody else for whom he bought anything expensive? If he is buying expensive stuff for all his friends, then maybe it is normal. If not, then you have to use your judgement. Some twisted men end up feeling "cheated" if the girl doesn't respond with sex at some point. You have to be sure he is not one of those.

I have bought an expensive gift for a girl who was only a friend, and I wasn't interested in romantically. So it doesn't automatically mean anything untoward.
