As property, the animal is owned and the owner decides what to do with it.

That said, freedom is not absolute. A man can't get married to two adult women in the USA. It is a criminal act. But were they forced? No! It stays because it is their system.

In the middle east, it is not so. In Nigeria, it is illegal to marry two women in court(based on British law) but it is okay to do so through traditional system (as long as ones tradition agrees with it). You see that every society determines what it takes and what it doesn't.
