The problem of tribalism lies much much deeper than this proposal can realistically address. We as Nigerians need to see one another as having exactly the same Socio-economic and political rights wherever we find ourselves in the country. Call me pessimistic but this will not happen in the next millennium. |

Good radiance to bad rubbish I accept the trend that the VP is trying to implement STATE OF RESIDENCE has come to stay. I happen to be a victim when I was denied my place in the western state of NIGERIA after investing so much born and bred in the West ,education in the West, When placement showed up in the ministry I was denied that am not from the west. This has got to stop and the issue of sectoriality has to be abolished. And apply holistic effort in making sure that all ethnic groups are represented in any parastatal in governance. I LOVE MY COUNTRY NIGERIA and won't be perturbed by some bigot who believe NIGERIA is a Sectoral state. LET IT STAND. If US President Barack Obama can appoint Nigerian-born Adewale “Wally” Adeyemo as deputy national security adviser for international economic affairs and a Nigerian-American journalist and Anti-human Trafficking advocate, Bukola Love Oriola as a member of the US Advisory Council on Human Trafficking. Likewise A Nigerian, Jude O Nkama made history on January 6th as he became the first African to be appointed as a judge in the 349 year history of the city and State of New Jersey .This are changes we want and is achievable in my DEAR COUNTRY NIGERIA. LONG LIVE THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA LONG LIVE ALL THE ETHNIC GROUPS IN NIGERIA LONG LIVE ALL THOSE THAT WANT THE PROGRESS OF THE GREAT COUNTRY OF OURS. GOD BLESS OUR GREAT COUNTRY.

StuntingBlack:YOU ARE A FOOL! I don't care what Nairaland moderators say or do. You are a direct example why Africa will never progress until the lot of you (the majority) die off this earth. Let me tell you starkly ignorant person, no one is a stranger in any part of the country to which he legally originates in the world of 2015. You may relish the savage days of your ancestors where they differentiate "indigene/settler" but sadly, we live in the modern world where humanity is divided into COUNTRIES and every citizen of each country has all the rights of anyone else in that same country. Your so-called education has been a waste but take solace in the fact that most Nigerians are also as dumb as you. I weep for this country; I wish I was never an African - they're just a step higher than the apes: fact! |

bidemi12:well the integration program that i know about use to be NYSC and Nigerians are more divided than before and you can divide Nigerians in 5mins if you want to when you meet with them .How many Nigerian languages do you speak?Do you have friends from all over Nigeria.some Nigerians cannot marry other Nigerians because of cultural beliefs. We need an official language that will include the major languages spoken in Nigeria apart from English. It will be compulsory for you to speak ,read with the language of your country. The CRK and IRK divides students from secondary school. |

Nope we dnt like this move by the FG. When we have more pressing issues to address, this sensitive issue should be left as it is. Nigeria is not ready for state of residence. Every state is identifiable by its indigenes. Its better that way and should be left as it is. |

GspotAngela:For you to move forward as a nation, tribal sentiments will have to be submerged if not eliminated. Darwin will always win.your tribe Nupe did not start with the earth and with all due respect will not end with the earth. It's just a matter of time. Your tribe Nupe lost the battle a long time ago when it allowed the British to conquer you and form a country for you, Nigeria. They told you to shun your king and report to the queen and afterwards the president of Nigeria. At that point, a new culture was born, the Nigerian identity. To nurture that identity, you can't serve two masters. One have to give in. Nupe has to give in to Nigeria.... or Nigeria to Nupe. Unfortunately for you we live in a modern world where we are divided along countries and not tribes. countries that mean business do not have tribes, that's why they are advance and developed. You want to join them, you have to learn how they play. |

HopeAtHand:I doubt if its going to have any effect in Nigerians mind. Nigerians will always want to know where who they are dealing it hails from. hence not really curtailing the problem the FG is trying to remove. |

To my mind. D post by Prof Osinbanjo was dated 5th Jan 2015, which was before he was sworn in, so making it a mere manifesto/promise which anybody can make. That doesnt mean d Federal Govt. has approved it. So na mere promise. |

Atlantian:To prove how small our minds are, can you tell me who stopped you from contesting for governor of Lagos? Voters will vote and no law in the world can tell someone what to like. Just for the record, some people of Ibo origin are representing parts of Lagos in the Federal House of Reps. Black man is still a savage and was never supposed to know there was a modern world. Nothing stopped the Western world from just coming here, defeating us militarily, and taken whatever resources they needed and left us as we were. Would have been better for us as we are not ready to progress |

Regardless of when he said it - for Osinbajo to even say this, it shows he's a blockhead. Osinbajo and GEJ have to be the two biggest duffers with Ph.D degree. He's a clown. This was the same way they promulgated the destructive unitary government that has ended up throwing the country into a journey of no return from abyss. It seems these folks are hell bent on causing a civil war in that country due to their stupidity. Why would any sane person want to replace folks' real identity, without a fictitious one that only exist on paper? Do these people even know the differences between identity and nationality; people's innate cultural/traditional affinity to their ancestral lands; basics of mutual co-existence/respect; and territorial integrity? Osinbajo is a clown for suggesting the idea, even if he did twenty years ago. And this clown is the VP of the country. ![]() |
