After a turbulent week as a result of fuel scarcity and hike in Imo state , I'm compressed to ask this question ; Why do we buy fuel between #120 -130 and the same fuel is being sold #87 in the north? Does it mean that the govt only subsidises fuel that goes to the north.... and easterners can buy high.

pls stop saying wat u don't know. fuel is sold at ard 110 to 120 per litre here in d north. I will try n post pix here tomorrow wen I visit any fuel station.

The same marketers that have been on strike since monday in Owerri protesting that they can't get the commodity at the control price to sell.

Sometimes, I begin to wonder why people like you comment on issues they are totally ignorant about. Is it bigotry, resentment, partisanship or outright ..............?

Gosh, give it a break.
Everywhere else across the country, all nnpc fuel stations sell at 86 naira while government permitted other fuel stations to sell at 86.5 naira. Let's be honest, the reason why those fuel stations the OP is talking about in the east are selling for 120/130 is greed, they want more profit at the expense of the public. However, the federal government/nnpc has given out some numbers for the public to call in each state to report such fuel stations selling above the regulated price. The government has promised to seize the license of such petrol stations extorting the public. The government can't be everywhere to know what's happening, so I urge that those numbers are called and those petrol stations reported.

Your skull is completely empty or may be your grey matter is just developing. You meant that I as a Muslim hate you because you are a christian? I can tell you brother, the hate in you is unparalleled. I can allow you to say your prayer or do your worship in my house despite being a Muslim. My question to you is: you as a christian, can you allow me to do the same in your house? When people like me have as many Christian friends as Muslim friends, you are talking of hatred from me to them. May be you think all Muslims are fanatics and intolerant. My brother, you're wrong on this and I need you to change your mindset.

Because Igbos are politically dumb. read here
https://www.nairaland.com/2166883/president-jonathan-south-east-orchestra

Excerpt:

"Since 2004, no South Easterner can boast of buying any petroleum product at the government approved rate always, while the Govt approved rate is 97naira, south easterners buy between 110-115 naira, have you guys bothered to ask why? Ans; Enugu Depot is not working.

This is how it works, Petrol used in Enugu, Ebonyi, and Anambra come from either Portharcourt or Warri, if the right thing is done, it is supposed to be coming from the Enugu depot, the increased transport fare (tanker hire) will be added to the products so it hardly sells for the Govt approved rate.

Now you know, for a pretty long time, you guys have suffered this and Govt after Govt including Jonathan your beloved didn't care as much as OBJ never cared, do you know what the problem is ?

There is a pipeline section at Okigwe, it is not like the whole pipeline have to be replaced but just the Okigwe section, that is the Genesis of your suffering. I am yet to understand the zombie follower ship Jonathan has in the South East, South- South his father land has already dropped him like a hot object (Rivers and Bayelsa), what is the SE waiting for?
Since 2011, jonathan refused to fix it for you thereby leaving you guys at perpetual high energy cost, is that what you guys really want?

According to Patrick Obahiagbon " there is no reason for Nigerians to pontificate the faucet origo of a presidential aspirant" whatever that means"

So young man, a problem that Jonathan your political ally refused to fix despite all my warnings, do you expect your political rival Buhari to fix it? I don't think so?

The Govt sells fuel to all Marketers, nationwide, at the same price but the GREED and COVETOUSNESS of your own people coupled with their penchant for EXPLOITATION, is what you are experiencing.

Port Harcourt and Warri refineries are now refining crude. It doesn't make any sense for oil prices to be higher in the SE.

A foreign firm wants to build a refinery in Bayelsa state that will refine 100K barrels per day.

1. Port Harcourt refineries 250K barrel per day
2. Warri refinery 100K barrel per day
3. Kaduna refinery 100k barrel per day

Under construction
1. Dangote refinery 600k barrel per day. Will be ready in late 2017. Operations will start in 2018. This will help our forex.

Proposed
1. 100K refinery in Bayelsa
2. 3 refineries in Akwa Ibom

Why are they not building more refineries in the North?

1 million naira question my brother, its so glaring that you don't need to ask, it shows that Nigeria is one in words not in deed,up to this very moment, its sold btw 120/130,like someone will ask do you need northern price or eastern price, why do northerners benefit more from government? Was it made possible because of those representing them or Nigeria is their birthright? Or because of non challant attitude of eastern Representatives? Other areas are,Education, Health, Electric power and Billings, federal roads and many others, are quite different on both sides.....Nigeria my country

Lol! Fundamental question. Only senate presidency when them zone to this same region, them fight over am so tay the whole six core states struggle am amongst themselves. From okadigbo to Evans to Pius. Them change am six times. Meanwhile other regions do their terms. Same reason why fuel go be like that for that region.

No sane person will fault your assessment but if you want to fix culpability rightly, it is wise to start from the fundamental which is the failure of the same government they so cherish.
Now speaking of which, at PH & Warri depots, Buhari's PMS sell for 77naira and the marketer is expected to sell for 87naira with a margin of 10naira.
in that line of business, 10 naira equals 330,000 or 450,000naira depending on truck capacity, so from this money, you are expected to hire a truck and other sundry expenses.

the guys from Kaduna will come to the same depot, use their 450k and hire truck of 250-300k and still sell at 87naira but igbos will hire truck of 120k and still sell at 130, increasing their profit margin by another 50% after expenses.
They will still adjust their dispenser such that 1 liter is dispensed as 0.5l increasing their profit margin by another 50%. In the end Alahaji's business gives just 40% ROI, while his Igbo counterpart makes 150% ROI.

The answer to the OP's question lies with poor political choice and greed!!

The reason for the disparity in the pump price is very simple ++ Buhariis fully aware the IBO's has been well brainwashed to not only hate and give his government a bad name so whatever the IBO's wish let them continue wailing .
Governors in the north care for the welfare of its citizens while some in the south east are more interested in the Biafra campaign so they should go ahead continue the campaign and suffer .

Perhaps the relative fear of GOD than money from one region to the other might be responsible.

Between you and the God that created u, if u really believe in any , u knw the reason behind the disparities: while the eastern marketers are greedy, desperate n aimed at exploiting every opportunity to make money at the expense of everyone n everything, their northern counterparts are mild in their approach, they hv a feeling for humanity, and are ready to get a little profit while their business moves on. Its not a coincidence armed robbery and kidnappings are prevalent in the East. My friend life in the east is a survival of the fittest. You know what am talking.
