MamaTees:
Hello Nairalanders,

I'm a newbie here. i've had a long read and i'm almost exhausted however, i have a few questions to ask. I'll appreciate good leads.
I hold a 2 years b1/b2 visa, went for vacation with hubby in July 2015. Now i'm preggers and we plan to have an Obama baby smiley my questions is as follows:

1. Do i need to write a letter of change of intent as i wasn't pregnant at the time i went for interview and i wasn't asked any question about being pregnant.

2. I have relatives in Raleigh, North Carolina (NC) but what i have been reading about their bill isn't smiling at all. Is there a package similar to El paso or MHIS at NC. I'll appreciate leads. (Note: we're comfy to stay where we have relatives)

To your number one question.
You can send a notification of intent. As In writing to tell them u r traveling for birthing in d US.

Number two question...
I don't think there is. But there are a couple of NC people of late... So u guys Join forces and help us crack that place grin

So pursuant to yesterday's discourse, some asked the question at the VO's thread and he stated thus
abujaniv:

Hello danowena,

Daycare is the equivalent of hiring someone to babysit your child while you go out for the night. It is not education and does not require a special visa as such. Education including and beyond kindergarten (whether public or private), however, is not allowed on a B1/B2 visa.

Regards,
Abuja NIV Team

Just for info purposes!

Sweetheart, I hope am crossing any line.wipe your eyes sharply. Don't you know how to smile and nod your head then go ahead with your own plans.
Make sure you are in charge of your travel plans and and all monies are in your account even if it's in hubby's account systematically hold the cards. Then jejely port to Elpaso and later handle hubby and daddy with sweet talk. Meanwhile as a story that touch the pocket warning, check Olaideodes post about birthing in North Carolina. Cheers

Isn't this an ill advice to give someone? Go against your husband and father? What if something happens like an emergency in Elpaso? Will you be there to handle her? Na wa o..

Geez why the over dramatization shocked. I believe the person who asked the question gets what am saying tongue
Is it the father or the hubby that will do the VBAC?
And moreover she took her time to do research and decide with hubby on where they want to go to before Daddy decided to throw a spanner in her plans although he has good intentions(trying to help them save cost) and hubby doesn't want to offend father in law grin
But based on past information shared here NC is a 'No No'
Based on my experience I have men around me with huge egos and likes to have the final say, tears don't work with them and to avoid unnecessary stress and argument I just say Yes Sir and move on and prayerful handles things and after everything He will say you were right, egos intact and all ends well grin

I think they had to make that decision in Dallas cos one of the Ebola cases was treated there in Dallas.

Hi @TheLeakyTribe, I just got into Dallas last Tuesday and didn't hear anything about this quarantine. Also had my first hospital appointment this week and no one said anything. My husband will be joining be closer to EDD so I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Safe travels smiley

Thanks a lot dear. It's actually from the hospital not the Doctor. Just to be sure are you using a Baylor hospital? Hope I'm not asking too much info.

I think thorough discussions with hubby will solve it. Be frank about your decisions so they know rather than "abscond". That's my opinion

Are u particular about BA? And it's transit and not direct flight. If u are not particular about BA, why not book united...u can even get less than 250k. The good thing is that ur 'going' is handled by their partner lufthansa just incase u wanna avoid houston poe. Return u flyunited through houston which gives baby same baggage allowance as u. In the end its a win-win. The ticket is valid for 3 months as against the normal 1 yr...so u can't decide to reschedule for Aug or say Dec. That's the only drawback else u can add infant ticket, adjust return date etc. Call united office direct if u cant go to their office. Google for their no (call the gsm nos, the landline doesn't work)...don't wanna drop it here before dem go remove the post.

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST. I JUST NEEDED TO SHARE MY ANNOYANCE WITH YOU PEOPLE. PROBLEM SHARED IS HALF SOLVED PLUS I HAVEN'T SLEPT SINCE LAST NIGHT MY DAD CALLED TO TELL ME IT MUST BE DURHAM, NC. He likes everyone buying his opinion....
The End. Thanks everyone.....

Dont mean to sound -ve but its usually cases like this that the whole experience goes sour. "Your Dad's friend" the wife may not have even been consulted when the 2 men were probably just discussing in passing, they now bring in someone (A pregnant lady) to stay for at least 3 months and the wife starts to act nasty. I may be wrong but to avoid issues if the person is not your CLOSE relative and did not directly invite you pls stick to your original plans.

Please tell your dad you have already paid for the other hospital and wont get a refund, he sounds just like every other dad (including mine) i know.

Take it easy dear and don't fuss too much about it.

God Bless

I renewed my visa last week via Dropbox. I had read about people being called for interviews even after applying via dropbox and I didn't want to attend a second interview. For my initial visa I applied with my husband for tourism (I was pregnant at the time of application) but later learnt that people were mailing the consulate to declare change of intent, so I did that and got a generic response. I used the visa in 2014 to give birth and again in 2015 for vacation.

For the renewal we agreed that I should apply for a medical visa instead of stressing over anything while he applied for business/tourism. Same B1/B2 just different reasons and different intended length of visit. 3 months for me , 2 weeks for him. So I was certain that I would be called for interview, anyway I wasn't, my visa was renewed after 4 days.

Question now is has anyone had any experience with this quarantining thing? Or is it just peculiar to dallas. They keep telling me that to give birth in the hospital (which I used last time oh) I have to have been in the state or the US for 30 days prior to delivery and that anyone who intends to join me in L and D must also meet that requirement. Does anyone know about this and is it strictly applied?

Which hospital?

Hello House,
Please for the mums who have used or intending to use Oakbend Medical Center, I would like to know if the hospital accepts Money order. Because this might just be a way out in the dollar crunch era. Thanks !
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by Nobody: 10:33pm On Jan 21, 2016
Thanks to everybody for congratulating me on my successful visa interview.
Now in search of flight, dollar etc
Please has anyone boarded etihad airways to US before? Please what's the experience like? From my research, they go to NY. Means I need a local flight to get to Houston, am not sure though.
This choice is because i have some money with them that I want to use for this trip or I lose it; abt 500k

I will apreciate your response please.
Best regards.
