[b]Who needs Kevin De Bruyne when you have Kelechi Iheanacho?

Aston Villa vs Man City, FA Cup fourth round - Kelechi Iheanacho hat-trick renders absence of big-money signing an afterthought

Kelechi Iheanacho was the only Manchester City player who did not cost a transfer fee at Villa Park, but he could prove invaluable for Manuel Pellegrini.

Iheanacho is the poster boy from City’s academy, the youth graduate tipped for stardom, and his hat-trick rendered the absence of Kevin De Bruyne an afterthought.

With £55 million signing De Bruyne out for 10 weeks with ligament damage, Pellegrini had challenged his attacking players to step up and it was the 19-year-old Nigerian, making only his fifth start for the club, who emphatically seized the opportunity.

He now has eight goals for the season despite his limited opportunities and is likely to be named in City’s Champions League squad, underlining his rapid progress.

This was a rout which further darkened the mood for Villa’s frustrated fans and completed a memorable week for Pellegrini, whose team booked their place in the Capital One Cup Final on Wednesday.

Pellegrini seemingly loves to play up to his killjoy image and has frequently insisted the quadruple is “unrealistic”, but City supporters will continue to dream. You get the impression that the Chilean would still be dampening expectations if his team were in three finals and five points clear at the top of the Premier League.

But this was a cakewalk for City and if Pellegrini really is keeping the hotseat warm for Pep Guardiola, he is not leaving quietly.

FA Cup finalists last season, Villa’s decline has been staggering and they never looked like building on their recent recovery under Remi Garde.

City took only 196 seconds to draw first blood. Fabian Delph ignored the fan pointing an inflatable snake in his direction to bend in the corner and though Fernando’s header was cleared off the line by Jordan Veretout, Iheanacho could not miss from two yards.

Villa have been showing signs of progress under Garde. They have been better organised and confidence was growing but their five-match unbeaten run was effectively killed off in the 23rd minute.

Not for the first time this season, Villa were the creators of their own problems with Leandro Bacuna needlessly bundling over Raheem Sterling in the area as the winger prepared to convert Jesus Navas’s cross.

Iheanacho converted from the spot with ease and City had the cigars out. Brad Guzan denied Fernandinho from close range as City exposed the gaps and it always looked likely to be a rout.

Villa did show some signs of fight, without ever threatening Willy Caballero, and in the 65th minute Gabriel Agbonlahor was introduced for the first time since December 5.

It sparked a brief improvement, with Caballero diving to his right to keep out Carles Gil’s swerving free kick but it was like poking a hornet’s nest.

For 15 minutes from time Iheanacho completed his hat-trick after running unopposed from just inside the Villa area to slot the ball past Guzan, following a disastrous back pass from Idrissa Gana.

City added a fourth barely 60 seconds later after Villa’s defence went awol, with Sterling poking home from close range. “Fabian, what’s the score?” chanted the City supporters in the North Stand.

At the final whistle of another chastening afternoon, Villa fans could not even be bothered to boo.

Iheanacho, Ighalo, Iwobi and Akpom were all awesome today.

Iheanacho obviously grabs the biggest headlines today with 3 goals and an assist. What a "monster kid" we got on our hands.

It's all going "NachoManiac" at Villa park and manchester's blue part (even the red part might join in...... *winks*) today. It's all Nacho on Twitter, facebook, Bluemoon, and more...

Hattrick already in your break-out season? The world is yet to see what this Nacho kid is really up to. #smiles

Extract from Uefa.com immediately after the English Emirates FA Cup game.
.........................................................................................

With Agüero watching from the bench, Iheanacho
broke the deadlock inside four minutes, a poacher's
effort following a corner. What happened midway
through the first half was perhaps more instructive of
his status, though.
Raheem Sterling won a penalty
and prepared to take it.

Skipper Pablo Zabaleta had other ideas, stepping in
and giving the ball to Iheanacho.
The coolness of the
finish, sending the keeper the wrong way with a
shimmied run-up, vindicated the decision. "What
Kelechi Iheanacho did I couldn't even do in training,"
former England striker Dion Dublin remarked on BBC
radio.

Wow that is a huge compliment from the talented striker Dion Dublin. Reminds me of Gary Lineker's compliment of Messi.

Sterling wanted to take the penalty which put City two goals up, but it was Pellegrini who insisted on Iheanacho doing the honours from 12 yards.

The manager added: "I told Bacary Sagna to tell Kelechi to take the penalty. I see him take penalties every day, so he was in charge."

[b]Kelechi is Why We Let Dzeko, Jovetic Go

Kelechi Iheanacho scored a hat trick and earned praise from manager Manuel Pellegrini as Manchester City crushed Aston Villa in the FA Cup.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says Kelechi Iheanacho's hat-trick against Aston Villa proves the club were right to allow established stars Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic to leave.

The 19-year-old striker took full advantage of Sergio Aguero being rested to score three times in the FA Cup fourth-round tie at Villa Park on Saturday, with Raheem Sterling netting the other in an easy 4-0 win.

Dzeko and Jovetic joined Serie A sides Roma and Inter respectively at the start of the season and Pellegrini believes Iheanacho is showing that allowing the more experienced pair to go was the right decision. "Kelechi is a very good young player," the Chilean told BBC Sport.

"We let Jovetic and Dzeko go because I see Kelechi every day and know what he can do. I am very happy.

"We made some important changes because it is important to rotate with so many matches to play. Bacary Sagna played well at centre-back, he didn't make any mistakes and [Willy] Caballero was solid in goal."

The win means City, who are back in action at Sunderland in the Premier League on Tuesday, are still in contention to win all four major trophies they are competing for this season.

Well, u spoke my mind. Siasia may have to try a more forward role for Iheanacho. If he adopts a 4-4-2 formation he can play d supporting striker role.

I didnt watch Iheanacho cos as a gunner i watched the Arsenal game though jst d first half. I see Iwobi keeps improving every match. His deliveries and passes were so sublime and seemingly effortless. He and Iheanacho's combination will b great to watch at d Olympics.

However, I think Iwobi needs to take his game to d next level by taking dashes or chances at goal. From d position he is playing he has every right to do so considering also his execellent dribbling skills.

Chuba Akpom also got a hat-trick. I think Nigeria should still make an attempt at getting that boy. Entising him with the Olympics wont b a bad one; jst what we did to Victor Anichebe hu also claimed his blood was English.

Sorry, I don't choose/support players based on where they come from. I only focus on their performance and that's all.

Do you expect me to support a player seating on the bench over one playing regularly as some of you do here? Never. It's not done anywhere except only in Nigeria where a coach will bring bench warmers and mediocre players over talented and those playing regularly.

I will continue to support what is good. That's all. cheesy

Emmanuel Daniel (Gk)
Abdullah Shehu (Dr)
Madu (Dl)
Omeruo (CB)
Ekpolo (CB)
Wlifred Ndidi (DM)
Etebo (CM)
Iwobi (CM)
Iheanacho (AMR)
Simon Moses (AML)
Isaac Success (CF)

Ndidi is a super regular for Genk so i choose him over Azubuike. Ekpolo (Barca B) was invited for the Dakar tournament but could not make it. This shows that Siasia has his eyes on him. He is usually at right back but can also play CB. Nigeria has very few options at CB. Alternatively, I will choose Leon Balogun as an overage while Ekpolo battles with Shehu for the right back.

An Iwobi-Etebo midfield combination is enticing... Michael Olaitan qualifies to play in this Olympics, He played yesterday against Ndidi. Would like to see him invited to camp.

YAYA TOURE TIPS PROTÉGÉ IHEANACHO FOR GREATNESS By Seye Apanisile The Manchester City veteran has said the young newcomer could become a big player for the Citizens going by his talent Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has tipped young team mate Kelechi Iheanacho to be a big hit if he keeps his head down and continues to work hard. The young Nigerian has been hitting the headlines for the right reasons this season as he scored once in the 3-0 defeat of Norwich City in the FA Cup at the weekend. Yaya, who missed the opportunity to become the only player to win the African Footballer of the Year award five times last week, said good things about the Nigerian youngster. “Yes, I am very close to Kelechi and he sees me as his mentor,” Yaya told SportingLife. “I see him closely and I trust him and I have been trying to push him up. I know what I have done to encourage him to continue to believe in his talent,” he said. On the future of Iheanacho, the midfielder believes that the forward could be a top player in no time. “I see him as one of my younger brothers coming through one day. I hope that Kelechi can be one of the top players on the field in the future,” Toure said. Iheanacho is being tipped to make the Manchester City squad for the Uefa Champions League after persistent injury has kept out Frenchman Samir Nasri.

There's a reason I keep using "Messi" to describe Nacho. Nacho's dynamic skillset(s) and statistics always bring Messi to mind for me....

I took a little trip into history again and I know Nacho is gonna be the very first of his kind..... Though now he brings a kind of "Pele/Messi/Silva" super-hybrid to mind.

Iheanacho Makes City History With Hat-trick, Set For Champions League

Kelechi Iheanacho has become the youngest player to score a hat-trick for Manchester City in 61 years, after Joe Hayes in 1955, Comple tesportsnigeria.com can report.

The Nigerian youngster, 19, helped City to an emphatic 4-0 win against Aston Villa in an FA Cup fourth round clash on Sunday, scoring thrice and assisting Raheem Sterling’s goal.

Iheanacho is also averaging a goal for every 63 minutes he is on the field and, with his four assists in the equation, he has direct involvement in a goal for every 44 minutes this season, Manchester City’s official website revealed.

Meanwhile, the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup Most Valuable Player and winner with the Golden Eaglets has been tipped for a place in City’s UEFA Champions League squad.

Iheanacho was left out of the A list for the group stages, but with the squad hampered by a number of lengthy injury absentees, and the Nigerian’s form, he could be in the squad for the knockout stages when it is submitted on Tuesday.

Iheanacho loves Aguero partnership
By: Sammy Wejinya

Kelechi Iheanacho

Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho does not believe he is a long-term replacement yet for Sergio Aguero at Manchester City.

Iheanacho was magnificent on Saturday as he powered home a hat-trick in City’s 4-0 win over Aston Villa in a fourth round game in the FA Cup.

Aguero was an unused substitute at Villa Park on Saturday and watched as the Nigerian starlet netted on four, 24 and 74 minutes before supplying Raheem Sterling with an assist for City’s fourth on 76 minutes.

“I am happy to play together with Sergio and hope I can do it for many years more at City,” Iheanacho said.

He added that he will not “be kicking” the Argentine forward out of the club following his impressive display at Villa Park.

“I won't say I will be kicking him out of the team. He is a great player, so I don't think that will happen.

“I won't be kicking Sergio Aguero out of the team just yet.
“I am happy to play together with Sergio and hope I can do it for many more years at City.”

Iheanacho did not produce any outlandish celebrations after any of his three strikes and he took the time to explain why.

“I don't celebrate too much because I think you have to focus on the game, to concentrate and work hard so you can get more goals in the game,” he said.

Iheanacho has scored eight goals for City in all competitions this season.
