Sorry for your loss, but if you are literate enough to post all this why not approach the bank to trace which account your money paid into after which the security agent can follow up, or better still request for your account statement.
How come you received an sms credit alert on a line that was swap? just asking though grin

My name is Adetoke Oluwo. I feel it is necessary I share my story so as to shed light to the way fraudsters dupe unsuspecting Nigerians and also to expose the shady AIRTEL STAFF who aided them.

My purse with other documents and ID cards were stolen last year April and as usual, I got an affidavit for it.
This year January, I got a call from Airtel Ibadan concerning a sim swap I wanted to do in Ibadan (I work and live in Lagos). I immediately informed them that it's fraud when
they told me the person brought one of the id cards that was stolen.
I immediately went to AIRTEL IKEJA CITY MALL to report and told them to flag and fortify security on my sim as my Airtel line is connected to all my Bank accounts. I even asked how it was possible for anybody to walk in and almost swapped my sim without any form of security . The staff said they will do something about it.
On Thursday night, 4th of February, I noticed my network was down and I waited till Friday to go report and they told me to wait for hours. THEY DID NOT TELL ME MY SIM HAD BEEN SUCCESSFULLY SWAPPED BY FRAUDSTERS, The Staff tried to hide it and told me to fill a form of sim replacement. I did not know at that point that my money was being moved as I sat there!!!
I left the Office and discovered on my other phone that 400 THOUSAND NAIRA HAS BEEN TRANSFERRED FROM MY GTB ACCOUNT THROUGH MOBILE MONEY WITH THAT NUMBER ALL THE WHILE MY SIM WAS DOWN FROM THURSDAY NIGHT TO FRIDAY AFTERNOON.
My email address must have been seen in one of the documents stolen, and the number is where Yahoo would send my recovery password to. All it took them was to SWAP MY SIM and click on forget password to access my email that had my Bank details saved.
It was when I went back to AIRTEL IKEJA CITY MALL to shout that the Staff told me my Sim had been Swapped. Before they lied that it was damaged and told me to fill a form for REPLACEMENT! !!

I requested for the Staff who swapped my sim for this FRAUDSTERS and they refused to say anything. They even harassed me and sent me out of their store for causing nuisance.

This money is meant to be part of the Course I saved a Year for to go study in London, I was maltreated and duped and an AIRTEL STAFF AIDED THE FRAUDSTERS. EVEN AFTER I COMPLAINED SINCE JANUARY FOR MY SIM TO BE FORTIFIED!!

BECAUSE HOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE WHO ISN'T ME TO SUCCESSFULLY SWAP MY LINE WHEN THEY HAD MY PICTURE RIGHT INFRONT OF THEM!!!

PLEASE SHARE SO I CAN GET MY MONEY BACK, SO JUSTICE CAN BE DONE, SO OTHER NIGERIANS TOO CAN LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE AND PROTECT THEMSELVES. PLEASE SHARE.

OP from your story you make online banking sound unsafe and simple for fraudsters penetrate.
I use GTBank Mobile money too. so this is a big concern to me.

However there are things I'm not cleared on your story in which I'll love to be schooled on by you or other forum mates.

Just because someone has access to your account email, doesn't mean that person has automatic access to use your mobile banking.

GTBank online banking comes with some form of security.

1) Your userID and password
2) Your secret question and answer
3) Your token device

How did the fraudster have access to the 3 things mentioned above?

Note those 3 listed information are not saved in your email address.

They withdrew 400k from your account via mobile money? What is mobile money? The only mobile transfer I know is possible from your story is the gtbank SMS transfer ,and even with that the fraudsters will ultimately need the last 4 digits of your ATM card to successfully use it. And the SMS transfer has a limit 50k and 20k to gtbank and other bank accounts respectively.
So its either the story is false or not well constructed.
Cos certainly your funds would have been transferred to a bank account which is linked to a bvn and getting such person's bio data won't be so difficult for the police and the bank.

You can actually transfer up to 100k for get to gt

Sorry dear friend but to be honest you got yourself to blame, you could have notified your bank about your stolen sim card and all other documents concerning your bank identifications.
Well there is still a gleamer of hope for you walk into your bank where you opened the account they will help you tracked who eventually received your money all you need to do is to be polite.
Best of luck

This story is a lie. As far as GTB is concerned, you cannot do mobile money transfer without your last four ATM card digits which probably might have been blocked if that particular card got lost along with her purse. Your ATM PIN and Token device are also requirements before you can initiate transfers. So how did it happen exactly? The GTB I know is not a loose bank.

You're Right on the token device but wrong on ATM pin/card.

You can do online internet banking without having an ATM card or pin.

You need ATM card digits if you want to buy /pay for stuffs online through your Mastercard/ATM card... You won't need it if you want to transfer money

So this is how airtel plans to rip the few Nigerians off that are still with them abi?
I left airtel a long time ago after I subscribed for 3gb data and could barely use 300 mb out of it due to bad network.
I hate anything that has to do with airtel.

I knew it had to be them. They are thieves.

The account your money was transfered to does it belong to a ghost? Woman, wake-up and go to GTB office or NCC that is, if you are not just carriing out a research survey. Thanks......BE YE RAPTURE READY....
Re: Fraudsters Swap Lady's Airtel Sim And Steal Her N400,000 by ayodele123(m): 8:44pm On Feb 06, 2016
Candid truth is that the Poster was negligent and her errors are:
Not reporting to the bank when the Sim cards were lost
Saving bank account password details in an email account
Keeping email recovery password in a phone

My bank passwords are in my head and nowhere else
My Sim cards are all passworded

However, in this case, Airtel is negligent and culpable since the fraudulent Sim swap was the basis of the fraud
Poster is advised to get a lawyer to write to Airtel and send copies to NCC and EFCC
She has a good case and Airtel will have to pay for the loss

Q. What do I do in case of a wrong airtel Money transfer? [-]
Answer - The case with wrong airtel Money transfers should be negligible as you will always have a chance to review the transaction details to confirm the information before submission and cancel the transaction before the command is sent to the airtel Money system. Note that the reversal is only possible within 5 days of performing the transaction. We will not be able to reverse the transaction after 5 days.

This case is simple, thanks to BVN.
EFCc can help easily. Even the police.
But I get her point its not just about the missing money but how could airtel breach fidelity, compromise a customer and have staff who will colude with fraudsters and lastly the way she was treated at the Ikeja Malll office when she went to complain is worthy of her bringing it to the social media n to take it as far as possible.
Its a small matter the culprits will be caught if the law enforfement agents, nccc n airtel work together.
She must get her money back.
Nigeria is getting better

Many banks have mobile money systems and its different from normal bank açcounts.
It's been around for years now and I am surprised you're ignorant of it
GTBANK does not have any mobile money system that can move a whole 400,000naira within thurday night and Friday afternoon. That's less than 24hours. The op already simplified the story. She banks with GTBANK and their sms bankimg *737* has a a daily limit of 100k. And its almost a year she misplaced her purse with other documents and ID card, I will find it hard to beleive the ATM card was not reported missing and subsequently blocked
In as much as I feel pity for her the story has too many loopholes

Do you bank with GTBANK? Cos if you do then you will easily rule out the mobile money. She already said in her story that she lost a whopping 400k within thurday night and Friday afternoon, considering GTBANK's daily limit for the mobile banking it is impossible and if you Usetheir internet banking you will understand there are several layers of security involved. I would have believed if she said her cheque book was stolen and the fradustsers forged her signature or cloned her ATM card. But move 400k via mobile money or internet banking without her knowledge is not possible with GTBANK

Something like this actually happened to me in July 2014, my Airtel sim just stopped working on a Tuesday. I thought it was network issues, by Thursday over #500k left my bank account. I raised alarm and d Bank was able to lien recipient accounts because the transfers was done within same Bank. In all I lost just the 60k that had been withdrawn through ATM. My bank informed me to visit my service provider b/c someone must had swapped my line for such fraud to have happened. On getting to Airtel shop at Iwo road Ibadan, I was told I needed a letter from the commissioner of police before they can release details of who swapped my line which I found ridiculous. I had to let the case go after getting #480k out of d money back and I had to report at work in osun. Since then i stopped using the useless network. I wonder what happened to data captured during sim registration and id card they collect
So they did not arrest the owner of the account to which your money was transferred?
