Women are in trouble. Instead of dem to get serious abt what they need as a gender most of dem are busy tryna be runs girls, waist-training, learning how to do unrealistic makeups, chasing horsebands sideboos or tryna be a sidechick or babymama. How many of dem knew dt d bill was to be passed today grin noone!

Nobody can fight for you except God or you yourself! Sadly women have lost sight of things.
Sad but true. We shouldnt deny the fact that their are still willing to work their ways to the top. There are women getting their hands dirty to meet their needs and that of their families. That some women are sleeping around doesn't mean some aint working. I pray we all get it right soon.

Gender equality is not part of our African tradition. Women must be subservient to men cos women are under men. We dont want gender equality, just the same way we dont want homosexuality. Let us follow our african values to the latter!

are we not equal already....why do ladies what to get a bill to make them more equal than we already are....not all bills fit our culture....laws are made to suit our culture and not our culture to suit a law...

we tend to forget this....

a law of equalities of right is not what we need now...what we need is father's to teach thier sons right on how to treat a woman and mothers to teach thier daughters how to behave like ladies.

WOMEN ARE subservient to men weather them like it or not!

infact! if that bill ever pass, homosexuality will become the things of the past in this country.

Gender equality is not part of our so called African tradition but looting, tribalism, ethnic cleaning, jungle justice, worshipping of thieves , etc , are a part of our African traditions? Isn't it?

At Topic : How could a corrupt and depraved Senate with the likes of Yerima, a known paedophile or Dino, a known wife beater, support such a bill?

I'm sure you've not even read a page or course from such a great bill. If you had, you won't tow the path you did. The bill seeks to eliminate ALL forms of violence and deprivation against our women. What's wrong with allowing our women become all Providence has empowered them to be?

I mean what those the silly bill tend to achieve by giving women equal right in marriage and divorce! Tah!!!

There is a reason God made woman from the rib of man and no woman is equal to a man!

And that one had the guts to bring the bible into it..... Is the Bible an African or a Nigerian document? I don't understand how you will quote it in defence of a stance of Africanism as a basis for gender discrimination. Appalling!

Wait, Oga common sense wasn’t at this sitting?? Because I sure cannot see his name amongst those that spoke in support of the bill. Oga common sense, you are not a Twitter senator o! Don't go on Twitter and be supporting Bill that you didn't actually vote in favour of.

Why am I even surprised? How many women do we have in the Nigerian Senate?? Remi Tinubu and Oduah, I hope y'all defended the bill too? This should even be the first problem. The average Nigerian man with the average education and exposure does not believe in gender equality, not to talk of the less-than-average, masochistic brains in the National Assembly. So really, I shouldn't be surprised that this bill was thrown out

No way! Who am I kidding? I am shocked! Nays have it on a basic fundamental human rights issue??!!

I'm so not proud to be a Nigerian at this moment. Shame!!

This thread is a bundle of laughs. The bible condoned slavery. Even the Quran. But I bet you the black man will still find a way to reinterpret it. But when it comes to women rights, it will made from man's ribs, she is only a helper and other short stories. No reinterpretation. gbam!!

Please. Get the bill and read it.

Exactly..... Speaking against and in support of the bill all amounts to the same thing. I don't see anything the bill is supposed to provide that Nigerian women don't enjoy presently.

In the part of the country where I come from, girls go to school more than guys. We have equal opportunity, they can vote and be voted for, we all are fighting to get jobs and all, so the bill has technically been in existence for long.

The problem as you have already stated is our culture. Such bill won't the light of the in places where sharia law is placed above national laws.It is not so..... Any Nigeria woman who aspires to become a president should lay good foundations and work on it continuously. It doesn't come to those that have aggressive breast, serious nyash and best vjay, rather, it goes to those that worked hard for it, those that understand the game and how it is played.

Don't you see how difficult it is for an Igbo man to become president? Does it mean we are women?
Its not difficult, Igbos have not been rallying around a candidate of their own in a united voice.
