Nah, this wasn't a good performance. You only think so because the egyptians were very weak in this game. Their attack was found wanting. If not, they should have thrashed Nigeria up to 5 - 1.

Our diffence was wide open. The midfield lacked energy; courtsey of mr back-pass, a.k.a the milipede -- mikel.

Control of the ball by the players was terrible. Also, setpieces were Awful.

Kudos to iheanacho for those two great shots on targets. The rest of our attackers were either kicking the ball way over the bar or straight into the keeper's hands.
cool Did you watch this game or are you just too emotional to be logical and dispassionate? cool

He should have removed Odion Ighalo who offered little to no threat and left Nacho up front. Odion Ighalo for Iwobi who can help out in a defensive role in midfield. Putting pressure on the balance of the Egyptian midfield.

Coach Siasia did not think defence in his changes and it is what cost us. That Aminu change was reckless and unnecessary.

Ambrose should stop taking what he is taking. He exposed the team to numerous dangers with his reckless runs
.
I nearly cried when iheanacho was subed... Aminu change was so a crazy change ... Ighalo could and should be the one out for iwobi then pushing iheanacho up-front.

I think Mikel played so deep and considering the poor state of the pitch can not make long passes and with the fact that the forwards are stretched... Why not talk to the players to drop deep often which got us a goal.

Efe was a disaster ... I don't even know the word to explain the guy.

The Goalkeeper was a shame... His positions was awful

There is hope for this team... Don't invite anymore players apart from the back line ... Work with this group for at least one year... They

Ighalo had two men on him. That afforded other forward players some more room to operate, including Iheanacho. Iheanacho was poor in his build up play but he should have been left because of his eyes for goals.

Musa was substituted just when he was beginning to play well. But I think Moses ordered more.

I disagree with Iheanacho was poor in his build up play. He missed some but he made a lot of ply to create fluidity and build up.

He dropped deep a lot of times to help the team but Ighalo hardly did that.

He just stayed up front throughout.

They were times Iheanacho dropped deep close to the defence and distributed the ball.

The Egyptians played deep, so it is normal for them to intercept build up play. That shows innovation and not poor play. My problem was Ighalo staying up front the whole time when he was out numbered.

The goal was onside. Number 6 guy played Salah on.

The ref did us a favor by ending the game when he did...They would've scored a second.
Etebo needs to stop taking pot shots.
That number 6 na another definition of Joseph Yobo, always asleep and making wrong choices, siasia should just drop him on Tuesday

I still say we put a late call to Awaziem, the young Nigerian defender at FC Porto. Someone should tell Ambrose that we do not need his erratic runs when he plays in central defence.

Good tactical plan by Siasia. He is really a genius and the best we have now. The back pass made the Egyptians psychologically tired, infuriated and unable to press us for a reasonably length of time. The LB was terrible and immature throughout the game. Our Achilles heels. Folks, we can win them in their home ighalo was in effective for most part of the game. Emenike presence and input was missed.
The North Africans will come fully attack to destroy us but will pay dearly for it. Iwobi has to start and we need to stun them with two quick goals from Victor Moses in the early stage of the match to win the game. I see 3-2 in favor of Nigeria.

Let us criticize transparently. What did Coach Siasia think when he brought in Aminu? He should have brought in a defensive player to see out the game.

Iwobi, Moses, Aminu were all attacking changes. He wanted more goals instead of securing the win.
My guy, nobody knows that Egypt can score in die minutes, tell me the tangible attack threat Egypt make since the beginning of the game, that's what make the defense to relax and , and besides nobody above mistake, u remember the greatest mistakes that ancelotti make that cost ac Milan champions league in 2005 against Liverpool, after 3 to nil he switch to defensive tactics, he substitute his key players, including Crespo that score two goals because of serie A match against inter in the same weekend, at the end, he lost the trophy, that mistake would have spoiled his career if not because he won the trophy back against the same Liverpool two years later.

Indeed, our boys played well. I don't see anything wrong with the substitution, i.e. bringing in Iwobi and Moses. This almost resulted in a goal....The only problem I have is the loss of concentration when it was already just 3 minutes to go..

As I was telling friends yesterday, our football has a good future when we look at our talents like Iheanacho, Iwobi, Simon Moses (guy played well) and the other young stars

Guy, no fault of the keeper, he tried. The main problem are the defence, esp those ones at the RB and LB. Salah is just doing osain bolt with them.

Yes... Those who knows football will tell you his is a disaster waiting to explode.... Poor understanding of the game... Imagine when he played fair play in his area instead of playing to the other half, and the charging to Salah goal was very very very very poor

The aminu guy was not too bad, looked like the game was bigger than iheanacho though he had some bright sparks. I think the absence of musa and simon gave the Egyptians some relief. One of them especially simon should have finished the game. Iwobi would have debuted in the second leg.
The Egyptians kept salah till the end of the game despite making substitutions, now siasia should learn from that, though am proud of him.

Painful end to a good performance..

My observations are:
1 our left back is not proven yet,hEs good on air though

2) Ambrose needs some talking, you don't drive forward and later misplace a pass as a defender, that leads to counter against us

3)Mikel is very okay

4)Moses simon reminds me of sterling, he is the best man on pitch, very skillful and a good player to have

5)Iwobi gave moses an ozilious pass me likey

I wish the boys the best on Tuesday

So, you too saw that Moses Simon guy...Very skillful indeed.

I didn't notice that nice pass to Moses came from Iwobi..Unfortunately, when Moses tried converting it, that Egyptian defender came from nowhere and dashed our hope for a second goal.

Ancelotti switched off early in the game and it backfired. I am not saying we should go defensive early in the second half. How can we not expect a team that has scored more goals than any team in our group not to find a way to score? Is that not ridiculous.

I did not say Coach Siasia should play a defensive tactics, it is not part of his philosophy.

He should have brought in a defensive player to tighten our defense while the attacking players continue their attacking roles.

As the time drifted, we should have gotten tighter at the back but we kept on attacking believing one of the top scoring teams in the African Nations Cup qualifiers will not score.

That was suicidal and we paid for it.

What a game!

Tactical blunder, leading with a goal at 3 mins to go, the Egyptian coach knowing they are down brought in Attackers, the tactical response to that is to shore up your defence! Immediately the 3 mins extra was announced, a good coach leading a goal up would have a reserved substitution to run down the added time

Oh my Mourinho!!!
My guy @ 3mins do you still have any more substitution.

Iheanacho was meant to drop because he was the number 10 playing behind the striker. He acted ad an attacking midfielder. Ighalo was the point man and his holding up play between two defenders was good.

Iheanacho and Musa made many poor passes.

I disagree with the game being bigger than Iheanacho because he offered more bite and innovation than Odion Ighalo. The problem with Ighalo is that he has no plan B when things do no work out for him.

The Egyptian defenders were comfortable with us lobbing the ball to Ighalo. They had their ways of neutralizing him. Unlike Nacho who dropped deep a lot of time to be part of the game and make the midfield more fluid.

Our attack was too stretched out and Ighalo should have dropped deep to feel the ball, create himself breathing space and make our midfield build up play stronger.
