At the POE in Uk they dont usually ask for evidence that you have money with you...the main thing is, you immigration status eg answer questions correctly in line with whats in their system and your visa.

Well, i have never been asked anything both in London and Manchester airport about whether i have money with me or not others might have such experience sha.

Thanks as you said I arrived Heathrow this morning with only £120 cash and was not asked bout money . Was only asked why I was seeking entry to the UK , how long I planned to stay , if I planned to stay with friends and what I was doing in the UK up till 2014 (I was on a tier 4 then)

Justwise, and every active member I hope you are doing well and happy Easter; I need some clarification please

I am attending a 2 day conference in Liverpool that will be financed by my organization.
I have just returned from the UK at the expiry of my tier4 visa.
I am not on Salary but on commission. In the employment and finance page of the visa application, where salary is indicated, what do you recommend that i put in the blank space. Also i would want to stay for 2 weeks do i indicate it also in the application? Thanks

Thats it....their primary concern at UK POE is your immigration status not whether you have enough money with you or not

everydayperson:
Hello People.
1: I have a 2-yr UK tourist visa which expires in May 2016. over the past 3 years I have been to the UK 11 times.

2: I wish to apply for 2-YRS (not 6-months) UK tourist visas for my Wife and 2 kids who have never been to the UK but they have been to Germany, Dubai, Canada and the US .

I am concerned about future hikes in the cost of visa application and renewal fees so i want to go straight-away for a 2-yr visa.

Please advise, will i get a positive consideration seeing that we have a reasonably OK travel history and I have never over-stayed my UK visits at any occasion?

I'm not sure that will work since they haven't been to the UK before, 6months would have been a good starting point...but you can still give it a go

That is not going to help your application or future application.

Use the blank space to explain your employment condition...payment wise.

Thanks for the swift response, I have almost £1000 (N450k) for the trip which covers my flight ticket and all other sundry expenses. I am not paying for feeding and accommodation. Our local food stuffs I will buy for them will be more than what I will consume on them.

All you need to do is to write down how much you will be spending and on what...even if you are only going to pay for the ticket alone.

Thank you sir, I will fill a draft form to have the spending spelt out and present it for evaluation again. On the other hand sir, what's your view on all the documents put together? Your well of wisdom will not run dry.

If you’re applying for a long-term visit visa
You must prove that:

you have a frequent and ongoing need to come to the UK
the reason why you need to come to the UK is unlikely to change while your visitor visa is valid
you plan to leave the UK at the end of each visit
You may be given a visa for a shorter period than requested if you don’t do this. You won’t get a refund of the application fee if you get a shorter visa or your application is refused.

Your visa may be cancelled and you may get a long-term ban on visiting if your travel history shows you’re repeatedly living in the UK for extended periods.

I believe the above answers your question, more info in the link below

https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor-visa/eligibility

Thanks.. will read

Hi,

I'd like to apply for a standard visitor visa for my Nigerian girlfriend.

She's a student so doesn't have an employer or independent income at the moment, so I intend to support her and pay for her travel

What documents do I need to provide, and how do I provide them (hard copy, etc?)

Also, what documents does she need to provide?

Thanks in advance!

Follow steps here
https://www.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa

There are directions there for documents needed by sponsor .

The onus is on her to show that she will return . So she needs to add letter from school to show what class she is in and her status as a student ..
Proof of your relationship is needed.

What I said was..
My uncle is more interested in my personal and career development. So he does things to support me. He promised to take me on a trip on my 25th birthday but it was around that time I had gotten a job so we had to postpone it.

This is the second time he's paying for a trip for me to go on holidays.

Thanks, Salsera!!!

I've gone through that section of the website and unfortunately it is very light on details. For instance:

* No mention is made of the contents of a cover letter/letter of invitation. What are the most important details to include in this letter? Should it be signed? Is a scanned copy sent over email admissible?
* The only section which appears to apply to sponsorship (for a standard visitor visa) reads as follows:

"where a third party (who is either in the UK or who will be legally in the UK at
the time of your visit) is providing financial support to you e.g. a business, a friend or a relative, documents to show they have sufficient resources to support you in addition to themselves and any dependant family should be provided"

This simply says "documents that show..." but doesn't specify:
> What documents are the most useful/best
> How they are to be presented. Originals? Photocopies? Scanned? Sent independently by the sponsor?

* On the letter from the school- the document mentions a "leave of absence". is it mandatory that the school grant a leave of absence for the period in question, in your experience? On letters you have seen from successful applicants, does the school explicitly list the dates in question

* What do you think works best as proof of relationship? In what manner is this proof best conveyed? Will she be asked to bring a smartphone along for example to show online conversations or telephone logs, etc?

Thanks for your help!

Its light on details because they won't coach you. Besides for instance its expected if you are inviting someone then who you are, what you are to the invite and what you are providing as a sponsor to the invited guest should reflect in the letter.
Is it accommodation is it feeding is ticket fare is it transport costs.
Your answers to these would then determine what documents you add to prove your support e.g tenancy, account statement, proof of your status in the UK.
So it's not cast in stone the exact details of what an invitation letter would be it depends on the extent of your 'sponsorship'.

And about the school its pretty straight forward. Its presumed her school has a timetable so you would not expect a student to intend to travel when school is in session. And if she is a student she needs to back that up with proof or evidence.

Then proof of your relationship that's simple. Prove that you know each other. How do you communicate, how did you meet, how long have you known each other.

About originals you can send originals or scan them. Whichever they will return any originals back to you.

Remember she has to be able to prove she has no intention to migrate permanently.

Thanks, you've been a great help.

One more thing- I assume these documents have to be sent physically to her so she can include them in her application (Sorry if I'm wrong- there doesn't seem to be any provision for sending the documents directly)

Send it by post or simply scan it to her by email which is cheaper.

You know chat logs emails etc can be printed as evidence as well
