Sure, only I don't know where to start.

People like Megainvest, NuttyChoky, Intendy, Raider76, Mercylicious and some others here are in a better position to answer this. There's another guy who's moniker I've forgotten.

But I'll just give you my brief answer as I know am reach for now. I've come into stock trading with a background in Engr not economics so... Anyway, the two most basic skills I believe you should have are Analysing Balance Sheets/Annual reports and trend analysis/pattern recognition skills. I've found the two, very key skills They entail a lot when you break them down. People generally say technical and fundamental stock analysis. But without being too esoteric, I think one can start with these.

There are so so many things that can affect the price of a stock. So many. Economic policies, business news, Nuttyfraud, deaths, appointments, new products, new competitors, profit, loss, war, time of the year etc. You have to be aware of how many indices may be playing on a SP at a given time t.

There are resources on the internet anyway. Of course we learn everyday and continue learning some more. I only started making money in stocks recently after taking it more seriously. The thing fit frustrate you if you'Re not careful o. So ...

Thank you sooo much I truly appreciate.
@Mercylicious@Megainvest@Nuttychoky@Intendy@Raider76 your help will forever be appreciated.
your friend here has truly lost money in this market, I mean money! I believe God linked me to this forum to meet with great men & women like you all

Bro, Ordinarily no problem BUT grin if I keep answering these questions on this forum it will ultimately reduce the value of the forum. Why? I'm more or less a starter who's learned a lot from the forum (I actually came to learn). I will be deceiving you if I posture as one who's learned. @Megainvest & Intendy are in a much better position to help

cry I hope you're not offended by my response though

The closure of register is 4th-8th April 2016.
Will I qualify for the dividend if i sell my shares today?

Good morning bnsitl,
Fo is abt to raise plenty money. Source channels news this morning.

What's ur take on this? Positive or negative news?

I ased cos its a 2way thing. There is probability that the will move the price up b4 they come for the offer.

There is another negative probability DT ppl will dump theshares for fear of dilution.
What's ur take?

EDITED

i just remembered they issued bonus. so the price will continue to decrease till ppl finish selling off. only then can they start their mm things if they want to.
FO , MY EYES ARE ON YOU.

I would stay off Oil & Gas downstream stocks at the moment. I have voiced this sentiment earlier.

As at today, NNPC is the sole importer of petroleum products (because of our senseless exchange rate policy & Kachikwu's price modulation) so expect the earnings of downstream companies to be VERY poor in 2016... If you look closely at their 2015 numbers you would see that was the same e.g. remove other income and finance income from Total earnings last year and their performance was terrible...

I believe Forte Oil might be trying to increase their downstream distribution infrastructure but I read some release where they are talking about investing in Upstream assets (I come dey wonder weda their sense complete).

Basically, if they are not raising funds to build a refinery, my hand no dey...

My 2 cents...

You need to understand the market rules before you conclude it isn't working. Before the market opened, what were the HIGHEST bid price and LOWEST offer price?

i wonder if there is any news in short term that will move transcorp. a coy dt did not deem it fit to give the shareholders even 1kobo as dividend.

I know their result will be poor, but b4 results come out, there are news that cause volatility of the price and i dont mind using any if i find one.
for eg, the return of fuel subsidy as posted by peterichy this morning. The news will cause bull in downstream oil coys in the short term. The most important thing is to know when to exit in such volatilities.

Is anybody looking for picks? The floor is littered and heaped with fantastic picks.
I have heard since I was a kid that "Opportunity Comes But Once". I have now concluded that this is not true, at least not in the stock market. What is true of the market is this : "History Repeats It's Self".
Looking at diamaond under 4, fcmb under 3, access set to drop under 5, historic prices are here again. The future is available again on awesome discount. Sharply therefore, take uba, skye and fidelity. How low can low prices be?
We are in "Ministerial List Bear". Hopefully, after release of ministerial list, bull will come, and the party will continue.

Did you confirm this was the case after 10:00am? I can place a bid at pre-market and cancel it before 10:00am (10:00am - 10:14:59am is dedicated to Market makers only)

If the N1.26k bid was placed by any other investor and he sees that there are much lower offers, the sensible thing to do is to cancel it while you still can. I do that often. Except the N1.26 price was placed by a MM during the window specified above.

Anyway, the reference price for Diamond is N1.15.
