GudluckIBB:My friend keep quiet, stop showing your ignorance to the world, a simple search on Google will tell you that Lagos State is the smallest state in Nigeria. I forgive you for your ignorance. To further educate you, Southern Ijaw LGA is one is the biggest LGA in Nigeria. Please go and learn some geography before posting falsehood. |

Worked in bayelsa for over 6 years. The state is among d least developed state in d South. U don't have to look far to see poverty from from Edepie to ompadec from Azikoro village village to agudama poverty is rampant. Bad leadership leadership and endemic corruption has always been the bane of the state. Every thing the writer said is d plain truth robbers now raid even pots of soup in people's houses. Salaries are not being paid. Just within d past 24 hours I have received over three phone calls from friends still in bayelsa requesting for money to buy food stuff. For me all surviving past and present governors should be held accountable fie the present calamity of the state. At times I wonder how someone like Jonathan manages to sleep at night considering how wood fully he failed his people in particular and Nigerians in general. |

mightyfada:So because Obj did nothing for his home state (according to you), Gej is therefore right to to have left no legacy for Bayelsa despite the huge windfall he presided over as governor and president? What illogical statement! |

freshdude99:You are wrong on several counts,The Economist a well respected international news magazine called Jonathan an " ineffectual buffoon" other people simply echoed it.Secondly south westerners don't support someone just because they are from the south west, it is a wrong ignorant and trite thing to do.Obasanjo was not even supported with votes for his first stint as Democratic president, this only happened during his reelection.Fayoses support base is in iboland while Gbenga Daniel is derided in Ogun.Poverty and ignorance is what makes people vote along tribal lines. Wages are still being paid in Ogun state despite Ogun getting considerably less money from the F.G |

rusher14:bayelsa is predominantly possessed by illiterates and hungry black people... I have never seen a state as backward as mine... Its such a shame... Maybe its a curse that we have to deal with fools as leaders... No vision... Nothing... I feel so bad about my state... Just take a look at the governors ugly looking face....an ugly orangutan... .... That man told bayelsans that compared to other states that he is still trying by owing workers five months salary.... What a disgrac3.... |

DropShot:its just crazy.. And the leaders all have the temerity to still think they cant resign from their positions for being inept... Bayelsa as i speak to you is in shambles... Retirees are still owed 7months and conventional workers 4 months....old and young all suffering and then there is a governor who touts about his ego.... |

Abagworo:Lots of true talk here. Lots of people getting state largesse were illegitimate. This cannot grow the economy. They didn't bother because they thought oil prices will remain prime. Very sad the price went down south. |

Babalegba:Even if the Yoruba tribe never liked the choice of Obj, no problem but the moment obj there they had no other choice than to support his else Na Abba and his cronies would have impeached him in 2003. Secondly there was a feud btw obj/gbenga towards the tail end of both tenures, few people knew abt this, they managed it in such a manner that the media did blow it up. Wen u got to know the real story was wen both have left their portfolios and the end result was pdp's monumental failure in ogun state. The same state that produced the then immediate past president. Then talking about fayose, its insane for u to Say that his fan base is Igbos bcz its not igbos in the SE that voted him into power in ekiti. My point is the SW and N understands wat blood relationship means better than other regions. Really round your own wether its bcz of poverty or share foolishness, your own is your own SIMPLE! |

A pastor friend who has been in Bayelsa for more than 10 years called me 4 days ago to send N5k into his account because the economy of the dominant civil servant state is down completely. Church members are not giving offerings and tithes again. I have been doing dredging in Bayelsa for d past 3 years. 3 years ago I supplied sand Danta-Danta Sawoe through Alams brother because Alams has interests in the company. Uptill now I have not been paid. The land owner asked me to bring more money in order for me to sell the remainibg sand last year but I refused. He is the one chasing me to come sell the sand at my own terms provided he gets something. Bayelsa is a state that if they have visonary leaders as Lagos they would have sand-filled the stretch from mbiama to patani but instead Goodluck empowered the militants. They were the ones calling the shots such that no reasonable business men will come there. Last year Dickson organised an economic summit calling on investors to come and invest in Bayelsa including agriculture. He gave very enticing incentives. The key questions to him and his team from attending investors was how will they address issue militancy and security. |

GudluckIBB:Bayelsa is 3 times bigger than Lagos state..... The fact that it has 8 LGAs doesn't make it small... Southern Ijaw alone is more than 10 LGAs in Lagos state...... Stop saying things you don't know.... |

IzonOwei:The sufferings is everywhere presently and ofcz bayelsa shouldn't be an exception. Here in delta state, primary school teachers have no been paid for the past 3mnths not to talk of local government employees. Federal government allawee for copers for march managed to come in 15th of April only God knows wen that of April will show. People are suffering everywhere so blowing bayelsa's trumpet loud to me is a plot by apc and their goons to blackmail pdp led govt and also to ridicule the ijaw nation. Aregbesola of osun and amosun of ogun aren't any better in there second stint but did u see anyone not even the Sw media saying anything.... I rest my case o bros after am not a bayelsan, am a core Anambarian. I just wanted u to have a clue of d soft politics they are playing |

solreb:My main anger is the honour accorded militants and dishonour for Professors, Doctors and legitimate business man. Have you ever been to a wedding, burial or big occasions in Bayelsa. The militants are accorded unbelievable respect to the extent that younger generation will be nursing the ambition of becoming militants. |

freshdude99:I'm sorry that you are not getting my point which is that a bad Nigerian politician should not be supported by his people solely for tribal reasons. It is an uncivilised thing to do and grotesquely ignorant. There should be a difference in the worldview of an illiterate man and an educated man. The north would at the moment always side with their own because they are mostly uneducated but eventually education will correct them. Most of the people defending Fayose now are from the south east and that's a fact. He somehow managed to get to the governor's seat and now Ekiti people are poorer for it.Unfortunately Jonathan was a very bad leader who lacked ideas. The Ijaws should nurture a resolute principled leader and jettison that disgrace called Jonathan. The economist is an highbrow newspaper that normally use words selectively, they called him an ineffectual buffoon in exasperation |

freshdude99:Considering the income earned by Bayelsa state and other oil producing states over the years when crude oil was selling for between $80 and over $100, Bayelsa state and other oil producing states should not have cause to be in this precarious economic situation. Same applies to the Federal Government. If GEJ had saved, invested and diversified our economy during the oil boom, we should not have been in the situation, rather the period of Oil boom was the era when our foreign reserve was depleted by the administration of GEJ. If states like Lagos, Ogun and Anambra are still paying civil servants salaries as at when due, I see no reason why Bayelsa state should owe workers for 5 months. |

Babalegba:Young man, I disagree with you totally. Why,bcz politics is all about what works best for you within an entity. Nigeria is no Europe or America, Nigeria is and will remain Nigeria. Southerners irrespective of W or E value education bcz we are prowestern. Good, its supposed to be a comparable advantage for us in Nigeria but guess what, the opposite is the case. Fulani herdsmen will kill and commit all manner of atrocity, the police will call them illiterates and release them after some days. For ur information bro, the west with their medias e.g economist, NYT etc. Don't have Nigeria's interest at heart. So if u are expecting them to write good tinz abt us, bro forget it, ask china and they will tell u better. I totally got the points u tyna posit, but vehemently refused to accept it. Jonathan never lacked ideas, he had it in full. The problem is that Nigeria, that's me and you aren't ready yet to make a headway. U want a Yoruba man to be the one that will take us there irrespective of the route while I want an Igbo man to take us there irrespective of the route too and an Hausa man also thinks its only his brother that can take him to the promise land. The moment we can solve that problem first, then we all are ready. Mind you the only way Europe could solve theirs was by giving almost all tribe a country of their own. Some country in Europe is just 3million, some 2m. I hope u will understand where am heading to |
