Applying as an undergraduate would make it worse. Once you can explain to them why you choose to go to sch this time and you are convincing enough, you should be fine.

@aadeyi. Thanks baba. But i am still very much in my early 20s. Just finished an undergraduate program last year, presently on service, to finish September, but been denied before, twice last year

In as much as i changed plans and opted to go to the UK since my Undergraduate GPA didnt favour me, i still love everything about this thread, cos one day, after my Masters in the UK i will still come here and testify of visa approval to the US.
Please guys, i still need some info from you guys. I believe it will be of help to others too. Will appreciate answers to the following:
1. Please now that most banks have started withdrawing the use of debit cards for International transactions, whats the alternative if one travels out and how best can one access his or her maintenance fee? How then can one have access to the money in his or her Naija bank account?
2. Please i might be a novice but it won't be a bad idea if i asked this. Please can someone please explain what domiciliary account is. Whats the use of it to a student travelling to the UK for studies. I will admit that i don't know what it is.
Thanks.

The bolded speaks volume. Your support of Jchi defines your person. One word- 'SELFISHNESS'. If the bolded truly helped you, it's rather amazing to perceive such attitude in your comment. Not a way to go Bro. Life goes beyond that.

To get the visa is one thing. To survive in a new environment like US is another ball game.

You cannot succeed in life devoid of relevant information which implies that you will have to learn from those who have been there.

VO: Why did you choose Emory Univ?
Me: During the course of my research, I came across Emory. It's highly ranked in my field of study. The school of public health is ranked 7th nationwide and it has one of the best Global health programs in the US. It's also affiliated to the CDC, Global health institute.. bla bla
VO: What do you do?
Me: I'm a medical doctor
VO: What kind of doctor are you?
Me: I'm a general practitioner for now
VO: So why are you going for a masters if you're already a doctor?
Me: Public health is a recognised medical specialty and that is where my passion lies. I am drawn towards the preventive aspect of medicine as there is a huge deficit in health promotion and prevention in Nigeria. An MPH degree is the foundation I need to build my career in public health.
VO: Are you married?
Me: No
VO: Do you have children?
Me: No I don't
VO: Which countries have you travelled to?
Me: UK, Netherlands, Barbados, St. Kitts
VO: Which school did you attend?
Me: Bleep university (in the caribbean)
VO: When did you graduate?
Me: 2013
VO: What have you been doing since then?
Me: Came back home, got my practicing license for Nig in Oct 2013, started my internship in 2014, then NYSC in 2015. Currently working at a private hospital.
VO: How many chambers does the heart have?
Me: *laughs audibly at this ridiculous question* 4 chambers which are the left ventricle...
VO: *cuts in* What is the difference btw red blood cells and white blood cells?
Me: White blood cells basically help with fighting infections while red blood cells contain haemoglobin which...
VO: *cuts in* Who is your sponsor?
Me: My mother
VO: What does she do?
Me: She is a contractor. Executes construction contracts for govt projects and private individuals.
VO: Do you have a bank statement from her?
Me: Yes I do *hands him d statement, letter from bank and letter from sponsor*
VO: *peruses docs for a while* Honestly I have a problem with your statement. Why does it repeatedly go from almost nothing to millions?
Me: It has been run as fixed deposit. If you look at the description on the debits and credits, it clearly states fixed deposit contract. The bank withdraws the money on the customer's instruction, trades with it and pays it back after 30days with interest.
VO: I still don't understand it
Me: Pls take a look at the financial certificates from the bank for the fixed deposit and the letter.
VO: I have seen them. I still don't understand where the money goes. I'm sorry I won't be granting this visa.

Pls I need advice and input from the gurus. I don't know how somebody won't know the meaning of fixed deposit. I'll be going back next month. What shld I do different?

Permit my late reply to your post. It is so hard to keep up with this thread, its grows with the speed of light.

Just like Imperrioux said and i quote:
imperiouxx:

Question: Let say you're in US now, can you make school payment like right away from this account? This is something you have to address properly before your next appearance at the embassy? Not everyone would be convinced that the money gone just before the interview and would be back in 30 days after the interview. And all they want to see is immediate available fund for studies. You were denied for insufficient fund.

I concor. Lets put ourselves in the shoes of the VO and access our response or our documents provided and see if as a VO, you would believe.
Changing sponsors in a short while is not advisable. With your transcript, you have a very high chance of being approved. All they want to see as this point is availability of funds.

Please, have you used them before? If yes, do you mind sharing your experience?

Thanks

Family friend used them and they were pretty good but the only downfall he faced was one of his bags didnt make it to USA with him but it was delivered to the address he gave to them untouched.

@House, I will reply to posts as i come across. Pardon my late response and please ignore mine if its already been answered before i do! grin

Q1. To be able to access the funds in your account, open a dorm acct and sign up for online banking, that way u can easily transfer money from your normal acct to your dorm acct or money can be paid directly into your dorm acct by anyone.

Q2. A domiciliary acct is an acct that is denominated with a foreign currency. A Nigerian dorm acct can be denominated either by $, £, or €. So in your case as regards UK, u will need a £ dorm acct. The dorm acct allows unlimited withdrawal from anywhere in d world. There might be charges though, depends on your bank.

As a student your funds from home can be made into this acct and the rate will be the CBN rate. Also you can transfer into this acct from an international bank acct and vise versa.

Hope this helps.

I'm not saying you should stop your UK application but I still think you didn't do your HW well. All you need to do is go to msinus.com (don't go to grad café, those folks profiles are intimidating). Look for schools that accept a GPA of 2.0 and 2.5, and you will be fine.

Okay, but just so you know; if you plan a PhD in the U.S after your UK masters, your undergrad GPA would also be looked at too.

Good luck.
