The chairman only presides over meetings and make some political decisions. However,employment,Staffing and other internal running of NNPC will be in the hands of the GMD.He is the Manager and the most feared individual in the corporation

I don't normally comment here but I have to say that I'm highly disappointed with this comments because it shows that you have failed your family, friends, and community as a whole to start with, how many people in this country are happy that things are the they are lately n how many people can afford to live the ways they used to just to many a few.

PMB did not sack Kachikwu, he only promoted him. There is no way the post of Group Managing Director
can be greater than Chairman of the Board of the NNPC and Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum.

Though PMB Has not been fair with appoinments so far!

All these happened under the hero and the South Westerners never shouted as you all are now. I guess you now know how it feels when you're left out of your entitlement.

Ministerial appointments are not positions granted at discretion, they are constitutionally mandated that all states must have ministers. So this is not a pointer toward favoritism.

The Chairman of any board or group is simply a figure head and a ceremonial head of the group, like the Queen of England acting in the role of the Head of the Commonwealth. The GMD, or Prime minister calls the shots. Kachikwu has been ceremonially FIRED.

And the minister of state for petroleum is also another figure head just like Diezani was a figure head. Honestly I feel these IPOB youths should be allowed to go. They are fast becoming a public nuisance. They complain about everything either good or bad, favourable or not.

He should also constitute the management board of FIRS. One person cannot be all -in-all in FIRS. As sensitive as FIRS, I think the service needs a management board. Management board is provided for in the FIRS Establishment Act.

The same kachikwu was made minister of state for petroleum(a higher post than GMD) and u stupid lots never commended pmb for the appointment.

He had been acting a dual role all along but no one saw anything wrong. If a northerner had been in the same shoe, children of perdition that u are would have shouted at the top of ur voices against pmb.

Buhari is the president and he chooses his team...

Useless Headline - as much as PMB has been pursuing northern agenda with his appointments our brother Kachikwu was not demoted here.
PMB is still the overall boss (like Aremu was during his time) and the Minister of State ( Kachikwu) is #2 in this arrangement. Kachikwu gave up day to day management of NNPC operations to be more of strategy (big picture/overseer) man. Having operational control does Kachikwu no real good here - more like stress for nothing. The yeye GMD cannot officially jump rank and go to PMB. He must report to his senior Kachikwu who goes to PMB.

I graduated close to 10 years now and I never knew my university Chancellor working because a chancellor of a university is a ceremonial position whereas it's the VC that actually runs the university affairs. Same with Ibe being the Chairman has been relegated to the background and the other mallam will be the one presiding over NNPC affairs. Hope the above bit is clear enough for you brain that's smaller than your d**k.

The GMD NNPC reports directly to the senior minister. He does not report to the minister of state so Kachikwu has effectively been sidelined.

I am highly dissappointed in some of the comments made here. The comments reflects to a greater extent lack of understanding of the context in which Ibe Kachukwu has been redeployed. Making Ibe Kachukwu the Board Chairman of NNPC is a promotion rather than demotion. As a non-executive member of NNPC, he superintends over the management and running of NNPC as a parastatal or agency of government. The management of NNPC does nothing without the approval of the board. He only reports to the President and not the GMD NNPC. So in what way has he been demoted or sacked?.

When the minister is from the south, the GMD has to be from the north or vice versa.That has always been the arrangement.
