I come from Anguilla but I came to Nigeria to school at OAU, Ife. I fell in love with a girl and we started a relationship that was so abusive that I had to quit after two years.

During this period, I couldn't keep a friend (male or female) because Miss wanted all the attention. I was studying medicine but she wouldn't understand that I needed space to read. I liked to stroll (alone) in the evening to clear my head but Miss always insisteld to follow me and she always had her way because she would scream and be unreasonable.

Every argument always ended up in a fight and when I noticed she always wanted to win all argument, I avoided arguments. She hated Muslims, criticized me for being a traditionalist (even though I told her before the relationship became more serious) and was very troublesome. She once insulted a girl on FB for daring to call me "Dear" while wishing me a happy birthday.

I couldn't pick what to wear. She always picked for me. I am a very simple person who liked to wear clothes that I find comfortable. She wanted me to wear suits and ties and jalamia in the heat.

She was very nice to me and very hardworking but she was trouble. Most of her demands were unreasonable. There were neighbours I couldn't greet and neighbours I could greet.

So many other terrible issues. I am so grateful to be free from her. Who else has stories similar to mine.

Good!! Everyone has a fault but when somebody is always trying to change your faults while blind to theirs, then, there would be trouble.

I have noticed one thing with abusive people. In all my life as a psychiatrist who has a solid background in psychology, abusive people always look for whom to blame for their shortcomings. So, if you are unlucky to get into a relationship with someone with complex issues, you will always get the blames. They never take blames.
