Alhamdulillahi Rabb ‘l’ A’lameen for safe flight and journey mercies.

Me: yes fried cassava. It’s called garri.
Her: You can go. Enjoy your stay in the US.
Me : Thank you maam

Oga Aadeyi dropped me off at Houston greyhound station where I took a bus to Louisiana around 1pm USA time. Got to BTR around 7pm.

It would surprise you that they know all the common foods people carry..garri,egunsi etc. Usually, there is no need to give them the English translation.

AT MURTALA MOHAMMED INTL AIRPORT

Got there around 6:45am. There were lots of people on queue. Screening was straight forward. The guys searching were representatives of
- NDLEA
- Custom
- Immigration
- Agricultural Officers
These guys as they search keep asking you to tip them quietly. ( I didnt tip nobody)
Had 2 bags both below weight limit - 22 and 21kg ( I had it done a day prior using personal weighing scale) with 1 laptop bag also containing documents. I saw a guy who had bags weighing above limit being asked to pay additional $295. The guy wan cry!!!
So every other thing went smoothly, took off at exactly 9:15am. The ascension was pretty smooth unlike other experiences i've had in the past - where planes made funny sounds and sudden jerks. ( Im sure you know flights that do these).
Onboard experience was smooth too. Entertainment not bad. Good movies to see. I watched soccer, listened to music all through. I made myself to eat their meals which were not bad afterall - and requested for more for the ones I enjoyed.
Air hostesses were'nt only pretty they were pretty courteous too. A woman who had diarrhea had a "pretty" awful experience on board. She ate some funny meal the night prior. So i advise you be careful what you eat the night before so you dont experience similar. I didnt request for coffee as it worsens jet lag, so I made myself relax and i slept well.
Arrived at Abu Dhabi Airport. (Layover - 7hours)
Swift landing. Lovely airport - interior more like a mall. Directions easy and many service desks ready to show you your way.
Charging points are similar to the ones we use in Nigeria with 3 four-cornered metal prongs. There are more than enough sockets for everyone to charge their phones and gadgets. Some chairs have charging sockets too. There is free WIfi in the airport so you can connect with your loved ones.
IMMIGRATION

US CBP is present at the airport, so all passengers going to US will have to go through their screening. Therefore technically, your POE when flying Etihad is Abu Dhabi. This was a long and tedious process as we were many and some people were really drilled. Its obvious the CBPs are superior to VOs at the embassy. SOme people were there still being drilled for 25minutes unlike at embassies where you'd spend maximum of 2-3minutes. I couldn't hear the convo. I saw some Nigerians being referred to some other locations by the CBP. Dunno Y.
When it got to my turn:
CBP: Good day
Me: Good morning ( It was already 12am)
CBP: WHere are you going?
Me: Washington DC
CBP:To do what?
Me: To study
CBP: Can I see your i20?
Me: Brought it out. Stretched it out to him with my passport and boarding passes
CBP: Are you carrying ******, bottles, agricultural ******, ubjnoewuho ( Couldnt hear him quite well )
Me : I just answered NO
CBP : Place your four fingers on it ( pointing to the prometric device)
Me :I did
CBP : (Scanned and stamped my passport, looked through my i20 ). Thank you enjoy
Went straight to the departure area where I waited for the connecting flight - By now feeling very tired.
We got called to board
Bigger aircraft( actually the biggest in the world - A380), newer technology, very Islam/Arabic Friendly.
THe display screens here better. HD display.
Each seat has sockets so you can charge your gadgets. Nice movie and music selection. You can have your flash drive attached for personal media display or to play your own personal music too.
Very long hitch-free flight - got to New york after about 14 hours.

JFK

Very huge airport, few people to show directions though direction signals were there to see.
I was to connect with American Airlines.
I didnt have to collect my luggages so went straight to American Airlines dept at the appropriate gate ( there are TV screens to know what gate it will be).
I arrived an hour earlier than my boarding time, the lady at the desk asked me to hang around. So i decided to check around JFK a little and purchase one or two items.
Went back to that gate abt 15minutes late- alas was told I had missed my flight.
SHUUU, just 15minutes late and that's it.
SHe rescheduled me for the next available flight which was 4hours later.
So I just went around the airport and returned a 3 hours and was on a Embraer from JFK to Washington DCA.
Every other thing went smoothly.
I claimed my luggage at DCA only to discover that my elubo (yam flour) was puntured perhaps they had done this to know if it wasnt cocaine.
All in all, smooth though long flight. If I was doing this againg I'd probably get a direct flight.
Charging ports in America is different so if possible get a multipurpose adapter.

Glad you are doing good. I am too...thanks.
I'm about to start. I'm filling everything in caps, is it okay to use capital letters?
Also, my mom's home has a long address and the space provided is not enough. What do you think considering it will be where embassy letters if any would be mailed.

I'm fine ooo. Hope you're good. How far with your mom's application?

relatively cheap compared to uni

If you say this answer at interview then you might be looking for trouble .
I would recommend you apply to both CC and Uni , if u prefer CC then make the switch when you get to the State .
