hello great NAiralanders ...Visa delayed Today
I hardly see people that smile today at Abuja US Embassy, when I got there people were just talking about the rate of denied..but I haven't see reasons why I should be denied cos am legit and I answer with confidence, it's like I am the most youngest in today's 7:30am appointment and this really motivate me to speak with no negative reaction..
like 3 nonimmigrant were wondering why I was denied, after my i interview. it was today I learnt some Nigerian cannot speak English just to Express themselves. they need to call interpreter for them. here is how the interview goes :
Vo:Why associate degree ?
Me: actually I was given admission in Cornell university but....(she cut me)
Vo:What is your plan after associate degree?
Me: after my associate degree ,I plan to transfer to Cornell university to complete my bachelor's degree.
Vo: did you have family in the USA
Me: No,I don't
Where will you be staying in the USA?
I will be staying in the school hostel at Raiders hall
Vi:Who is your sponsor ?
Me :My dad
What does he do ?
Me:He is a successful business Man ,he has some couples of petrol station in the Ekiti state.
When did you past out from secondary school ?
Me: may2009
Vo: what have you been doing since then ?
I went to federal polytechnic for my national Diploma in Nov 2012 and I pass out may 2015.
She just brought out 214b and she said I can reapply.
Everyone that went to the lady before me was denied, even an old man that i think
Is going for visit was denied.. My advice to the VO is that not everyone can afford to pay for university . they should try and find a way to know a genuine student. Rather than delaying CC student visa, they shud know our currency presently has no value ,and some might prefer starting from a community college.. plz I'm planning to reschedule my appointment cos staying home is another delay but my school start date is 28th Aug ...

Sorry about your delay.
My few input is that these visa applications are usually by 'luck', although there is nothing like that in my dictionary.

You can reschedule and refire, you might meet another VO that has a different View on CC.

Secondly, you can wait for the next session, write Gre and apply to a university(look out for funding to reduce your financial burden) and if you insist on CC, you should also consider your age.

Leave story for EFCC and do the right thing to get your visa. Do you think those VO are gullible or maybe you will be the first in this kind of case or situation and trust me you wont be the last.

I guess you mean Toefl/Ielts or SAT for undergraduate

Yeah most Nigerian lecturers are not approchable easily.
I was recommended for a PhD admission by a school only for my supervisor to sly me. Till today she didn't send her recommendation and from what I know, LORs from supervisors carry weight coupled with the fact that she published my project in a journal.
Memories like this live long.
Our lecturers need to change their orientation

I was robbed by my undergraduate prof too. She puts her names and her husband's names as the only 2 authors of a paper she published with our money and efforts. The project was for a group of 5 students, it was in 2005, each of us contributed about N50, 000 at that time. Her husband only ran the spectrometry analysis of the samples in his lab at General hospital, Ado-Ekiti. We paid the lab for the services and we did all night with him during the time of analysis. We browsed the internet with our money to get the materials she collected from us and made an article from.

But in US it was the reverse. The number of recombinant genes I have constructed and cloned can never finish in the lab at NM. My genes all have my initials. Even after graduating, my supervisor still continues adding my name among the first 3 authors of any publication that involves using my mutant genes. The research was from his grant (money) and he paid me my full check while working on the research.

I think you shot yourself in the foot ......by starting off with Cornell University was not a good choice especially when most of the response after that were generic answers and nothing that stood out . Cornell is a very good university so if you say you got admission there then the expectation of THE VO from YOu on the quality of your answers will be very high (u self go raise your bar)

Also its highly unlikely that someone who got into Cornell will then go to a community college . It makes no sense . for you to get into Cornell then you would have the SAT scores to be able to get full ride scholarship in a much lesser school and later transfer back to Cornell . That makes more sense that saying i got into Cornell but i am going to Community College ...... When you want to Lie , you go lie with sense . Although i dont encourage anyone to lie especially when it is not needed . In this case it was Absolutely not needed to say that lie

Also and most important Cornell has automatic scholarship of Full-ride (free tuition, room & board) for families making less than $60,000.......so then how can u get into Cornell and then say u want to go to CC because of cost when your full ride is covered

Sorry about your delay?

It is better you go and apply to university rather than CC?

The reason why VO denied you is clear via your interview delay transcript.

I cant remember if you are the one that we chatted via whatsapp after sending email..

we chatted via email only, thanks for yesterday also ..you are a rear gem boss

Good evening wonderful people. Nice work you guys are doing here.

Please I need urgent info on how a sponsor in USA can send invitation letter to me in Nigeria. Also the letter would serve as an indication of the persons intent to sponsor my studies abroad.

Also I'd like to know if the letter would be sent to me or to the USA embassy.

Idaho is the state in question. Thanks

@ sureb0y,

Your last points had been addressed here million times. On campus jobs are posted mostly at SUB or even by walking to any building and ask. Still don't forget that it's not always the same for all schools. Also don't come to US without money (you can start making money the moment you landed) and don't just jump into a course you don't know jack about because it's stem or because you just need an admission to gain entrance and someone got it for you. If everything is fine with anyone, getting the visa is the easiest while surviving in US is the hardest. These are the normal advise we give people if you look back when we have enough time for the thread. I'm happy you started seeing my reason for engaging in long debates sometimes.

Even if it becomes all time high, people will still succeed.

"When the going gets tough, the tough gets going". We need to start producing locally, the Chinese did it, why can't we do it too?

One major problem with Nigeria has to do with stealing. People steal to become rich whereas elsewhere, it's a total different ball game. You work for your money.
