obailala:More lies detected. 50% of the arrears was reimbursed in April The marketers through their umbrella body, Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, said that the government had only paid the debt owed to three out of the six companies involved more than a month after the pledge was made."http://www.platts.com/latest-news/oil/lagos/nigerian-fuel-marketers-say-still-owed-315-mil-26067047 So that was how APC found the loophole and surreptitiously capitalised on it using their proponents amongst the importers to halt importation and induced artificial scarcity, because the government's intervention would have at least averted or abated the scarcity. in addition, they also marred some pipelines. Thus, a prompt scarcity emerged, but it further escalated after the elections, leaving APC to bear the full repercussion of their pernicious blueprint. |

Majority of Nigerians of all hue and clime who supported Alhaji Mohammadu Buhari were doing so genuinely in the hope that this was an opportunity for a New Nigeria; opportunity to break from the past and set the country on the path to greatness. They were excited. They were enthusiastic. They were hopeful. Unknown to all these excited Buharists, the slave masters in the Sultanate and their sentries in the extended part of the Uthman Dan Fodios Estate called Nigeria, were putting finishing touches to their total control of their bequeathment. The political carpetbaggers too, inflicted by myopia and focused as locusts on the perquisites of offices they were chasing and the loot they anticipate to appropriate, could not look far or think deep. They were like rapacious rabbits that could not perceive the traps set for them. |

Some of us knew this. We were aware. We saw it coming. And we warned. We advised on alternative strategy, tactics and choices. But unfortunately, it fell on deaf ears rendered further ineffective by arrogance, condescension and ambition. They were inebriated in their pursuit of power, confident that they could never be wrong. Their ears were blocked. Their reasoning was weird. Their flanks were carelessly left open. They discountenanced History. They ignored the raison detre for the pains and sufferings of our heroes past. They exuded unrestrained exuberance and fanned the embers of infantile enthusiasm. They flagrantly and joyously gallivanted on the Hausa/Fulani tiger and as it now appears, they are gradually ending in its belly. |

Atk1nson:What's this one saying about party affiliation?? Party affiliation has literally never added one kobo to my pocket which is what I'm about. No matter how me or others complain about Buhari, leaving Jonathan would have been a bigger mistake. Complaining about Buhari is to make them get working and not relax. They can't be complacent, their supporters have to make them realize they're not sheep that'll keep supporting them no matter what they do or don't do. |

Progressive01:What's all these fixation with defending naira with dollars Instead of defending it with more non-export products and with backward integeration![]() Am not a buhari fan but that dollar is selling at 400 is not an indication of anything but the inflation there in I want to see this government making policies that cuts imports of stuff we can produce; of how to stimulate the agro sector to provide materials for factories to process.... I want to see, small business being stimulated etc There hasn't been any smart response from this government and that is why inflation is gathering up... Take for instance the issue of Airlines withdrawing services from Nigeria: the government can simply inject funds to the likes of Arik and other local flyers and stop the bleeding of the economy by so-called FDIs with their capital flights Is this rocket science ![]() |

blueto: ![]() You just repeated what I said about 'importers being owed' and then you go ahead to say 'LIES'?... Are you oblivious of the meaning of the word 'LIES'? ![]() By the way, your desperate attempt to put blame on the new government is very very lame and pointless... As at the time of the scarcity, campaigns had already ended, APC had already won the election, so what logical sense does it make for APC to start bombing their own pipelines or sabotaging fuel supply?... Wake up man! |

obailala:no circumlocutions, you must be a sophist. The news that indicated the emergence of fuel scarcity was published on 2nd of march, and presidential election was conducted on march 28th so did the scarcity prevail after APC had won? http://www.platts.com/latest-news/oil/lagos/nigeria-hit-by-fuel-shortage-as-marketers-cut-26027400 . |

blueto:Several things which could possibly be your problem; it's either you were ignorant of happenings in Nigeria, or you are suffering from chronic amnesia (probably intentionally). The real hard biting fuel scarcity suffered by Nigerians last year was in May 2015, a month after elections were already over. The reasons behind the scarcity are well known, importers were being owed and they feared the incoming regime may default in payment. You asked if the fuel scarcity persisted after APC won, and I am telling you I know of NO major fuel scarcity which happened before election; if that was the case, it would have been a major campaign argument by the APC at the time. The fuel scarcity at the period was well after the elections, and it was the most crippling scarcity in Nigeria's history with even several banks closing by 12pm for lack of generator fuel and airlines suspending operations; only a non-Nigerian or a person with amnesia would argue over this fact. Here are links for your consumption below highlighting the bite of the scarcity in the month of May: http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/182978-fuel-scarcity-may-persist-beyond-may-29-major-marketers.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-32873349 http://allafrica.com/view/group/main/main/id/00037030.html http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/fuel-scarcity-capital-oil-breaks-ranks-to-release-70m-litres/ |

49cents:my brother it is ohh...our problems first started when the cbn decided to stop selling $directly to bdc,at that point, $ became scare and that was also when the demand for it went off the roof... the decision of the cbn to stop selling to them was largely based on the fact that forex was not coming in as it was again through the regular source which was through oil exportation.. you also have a point though, but I believe 80% of our problems comes from the issue of oil |

mrmetoo1:Firstly, I am of the opinion that we should explore other avenues of earning forex rather than blaming past governments for not saving and the fall in oil prices. Our politicians are all greedy and self centered, Nobody will want to start a project that another person will take the glory I. E. if the project is not completed during the initiators term in office. An example is the recently commissioned Abuja to kaduna rail line commissioned by PMB. I was reading many vituperations from the APC and PDP on this forum just because the project was started by Mr A and was commissioned by Mr B. That is why we rarely venture into long term projects. We prefer shortcuts and quick fix. Are we not supposed to mobilize and motivate farmers now if we want bounty havest next year? The oil and gas folks i know are already looking to other businesses. I know one that went to sign a deal with middle East developers, he wants to get into luxury real estate. From the bolded, why didn't they stay put blaming past administrations but because they know they have an obligation to their citizens, they are looking for ways to ameliorate the suffering of the masses. Enter Nigeria, for how long do we continue suffering when there is no policy direction or hope for the future? Are we revitalizing the manufacturing sector, education sector or diversifying into agriculture? I don't know if you have bought a modu of garri lately? All that government is busy doing is short term quick fix, that is why there are policy somersault everywhere. They've increased import duties, introduced stamp duties, increased the price if PMS, increased electricity tariff, increase interest rate, will be increasing the VAT soon not to mention what Emefiele and his Co Travellers are cooking up at the CBN. Why ban the importation of rice when the once produced locally cannot is not enough for the populace? How do you encourage startups and diversification when you have increased interest rates? By end of next year campaigning will be gathering momentum for 2nd tenure and they'll still recycle same people. How will the economy improve when we have not set any foundation for tomorrow? |

obailala:Mr prevaricator, when will you jettison anomalous and distorted delineations? You failed to ascertain a major phenomenon of fuel scarcity due to incognizance(maybe deliberately), or maybe your cognitive skills needs some psychiatric overhauling, because it is conspicuous that a person that failed to learn of the fuel scarcity before May 2015 suffered from aphasia. here is news from Channels that indicated a fuel scarcity on march 2, 2015 http://www.channelstv.com/2015/03/02/fuel-scarcity-spreads-across-lagos/ |

blueto:The major fuel scarcity last year which enveloped the entire nation happened in May, even a primary school pupil in a rural area without access to the internet can attest to that. It's pathetic that a person who prides in your level of English is incapable of comprehending this simple message. Even upon the number of news web links I offered to buttress this point, you are still fixated on your baseless 'blame game' argument that "APC caused scarcity before election and the scarcity cleared after election." You are free to keep teaching us new vocabulary even whilst you sustain your pointless argument. |

fulanmafia:There are no bridges to build with you. The republican Igbos and their egalitarian cousins in the Old East won't roll on the floor because a fulani man won an election. I know them very well. Red states in the United states did not go begging Obama a democrat wins an Election. It was Obama's job to keep cajoling them by forming an all-inclusive government. Even that was not a guarantee for them to accept him but democrat will keep trying to cajole Conservative red as long governance must continue. We know this kind of civility is alien to illiterate crude and cruel fulanis who believe that those who refused to vote them must be marginalized killed and destroyed but unfortunately God didn't take permission from you before creating Igbos, Ijaws, Efiks, Ibibio. There well-being is not dependent on you. They will stand where they stand until you come to your senses. The slaves you have in muslim parts of yorubaland should be enough for you. |

obailala:another bogus assertion detected. I formerly averred that the repercussions of APC's premeditation escalated when they won the election, which maintains a discrepancy with your ludicrous statement above. enough of your mendacious annotations, you assume that you are shrewd with mutating and manipulating the foremost focus our altercation, of which was incipiently on your attempted confutation on my averment that fuel scarcity prevailed in march 2015, due to APC's insidious gimmick, albeit, it wasn't as severe as one that occurred after the election. omèka made a point indicating fuel scarcity existed before the handover, of which I repudiated by factually attributing the cause to APC(with corroborations) and also signifying that scarcity started before the elections(even teenagers with political apathy can attest to this). The point is you were trying to accentuate that “the hard biting fuel scarcity which Nigerians experienced before handover was in May 2015, long after APC had already won the election” in order to prevaricate the altercation and make it disquisitional, by failing to acknowledge that the scarcity that prevailed in May have its primordial from months before the election of which was complotted and and executed by APC. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/177824-apc-behind-fuel-scarcity-plotting-sabotage-of-power-supply-jonathans-campaign.html |
