Assalam alaikum brothers and sisters,

I am creating this thread because I feel like we can make this section of Nairaland more active and interactive. I would like everyone to post a reminder (Quranic verse, surah, or hadith) that you feel will be beneficial to someone else.

Remember that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Convey from me, even if it is a verse" ( Saheeh al-Bukhaari 3461), and “Whoever calls people to right guidance will have a reward like that of those who follow him, without it detracting from their reward in the slightest, and whoever calls people to misguidance will have a burden of sin like that of those who follow him, without it detracting from their burden in the slightest.” (Narrated by Muslim, 2674)

Today I will be posting Surah al Zumar

Wa alaykum salaam sister, this is a great idea, jazaki Allah for this, for today;

Lying against Allaah is shirk, how is it shirk? Let me give an example, Allaah calls himself the controller of everything, if you believe that "sango" has power over the thunder strikes, then youve called Allaah a liar and calling Allaah a liar is a lie against Allaah, youve committed an error of Tawheed Ar-rububiyya, which is among the main pillars of Tawheed;

"Indeed Allaah does not forgive that any partner should be ascribed to Him, but He forgives anything besides that to whomever He wishes. And whoever ascribes partners to Allaah has indeed fabricated [a lie] in great sinfulness."{Quran4:48}

"And warn those that say; Allaah has taken a son, They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers; a grievous word it is that comes out of their mouths; they speak nothing but a lie."{Quran18:4-5}

So in essence saying what Allaah did not say like Allaah has protected some people divinely from error or Allaah called someone a kafir, and so on is highly discouraged...

Allaah knows best.....

On Arrogance and Extravagance

Arrogance means feeling proud of one's achievement, position, wealth, beauty, intelligence, knowledge, etc to the extent of dispising others as inferior

Suratul Luqman verse 18-19 warns us against pride as follows "And do not turn your cheek [in contempt] toward people and do not walk through the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful"

ON TRUST (AMANAH)

Betrayal of trust is a very serious offence in Islam. Anybody who holds a position of trust or has been assigned to take care of someone or something, he should do his best not to take this lightly because it is a test on whether he is worthy of trust or not. We should make sure that we return that article safely or we take care of whatever it is as the case may be and Allah will reward us.

Not being trustworthy is not only a sin in Islam, it is also one of the signs of a hypocrite.

According to Q4 v 59, Allah commands you to render back the trust to those entitled to them"

The prophet is also reported to have said "he has really no faith who does does not fulfil his trust and he has really no religion who does not fulfil his trust

74:42: "What put you into Saqar?"

74:43: They will say, "We were not of those who prayed,

74:45: And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it],

74:46: And we used to deny the Day of Recompense

Narrated 'Umar bin Al-Khattab in Sahih Bukhari : I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for."

“Have they not observed things that Allaah has created: (how) their shadows incline to the right and to the left, making prostration unto Allaah, and they are lowly?

And to Allaah prostrate all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, of the moving (living) creatures and the angels, and they are not proud [i.e. they worship their Lord (Allaah) with humility]” {Al-Nahl 16:48-49}

So in essence, worship Allaah or not, your organs are worshipping Allaah day and night, if you worship Allaah willingly, you get the rewards for it....

ETIQUETTE OF DRINKING WATER

Anas(r.a) reported: Allaah's Messenger pbuh used to breath(i.e he used to drink in three gulps)[related by both Bukhari and Muslim]

also,

Ibn Abbas(r.a) reported: Allaah's Messenger said: Do not ddrink in one gulp like a camel, but in two or three(gulps). Mention the name of Allaah(i.e Bismillaah) when you start drinking and praise him(i.e Alhadulillaah) after you have finished.[related by Tirmidhi]

commentary: Water should be drunk in three breathe, that is one should breathe three times outside the drinking vessel one is drinking from. this Habit has a salutary impact on one's character and helps one avoid doing things in haste, also its preferable to say Bismillaah every time we drink and Alhamdulillaah every time we stop drinking.

Surah Al-Mujadila, Verse 7:

Have you not seen that Allah knows whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth? There is no Najwa (secret counsel) of three, but He is their fourth (with His Knowledge, while He Himself is over the Throne, over the seventh heaven), nor of five but He is their sixth (with His Knowledge), not of less than that or more, but He is with them (with His Knowledge) wheresoever they may be; and afterwards on the Day of Resurrection, He will inform them of what they did. Verily, Allah is the All-Knower of everything.
Note: this verse does not depicts that Allah is everywhere but He is with them with His knowledge. He knows everything.
Some people use this verse to say that Allah is everywhere. Allah is not everywhere but on His throne. He is with the slaves with His knowledge.. May Allah grant us guidance

Surah Muhammad, Verse 19:

So know (O Muhammad SAW) that La ilaha ill-Allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah), and ask forgiveness for your sin, and also for (the sin of) believing men and believing women. And Allah knows well your moving about, and your place of rest (in your homes).
(English - Mohsin Khan)

The verse commands the seeking of Knowledge before action.

Was sent this on my whatsapp, thought i should share it here;

A group of people were travelling on rocks at night... A voice came from the sky that who so ever picks up the rocks will regret and who so ever doesn't pick up the rocks will regret... Now, the people were confused... How can this be?... Whether you pick up the rocks or not, you will
regret!...

Anyway, some people picked up the rocks and some didn't... In the morning when they reached their homes, they saw that the rocks turned into diamonds...

Now, those people who didn't pick up the rocks started regretting saying "If only we had picked up some rocks..."

Those people who did pick some rocks also started regretting saying “Why didn't we pick up more rocks.." Both sides ended up regretting..

Мy Dear Muslim brother(s) and sister(s), whether we like it or not Wallahi Thumma Wallahi this same incident will take place with us on the Day of Judgment...

Those people who spent their time in useless things will start regretting by looking at those who achieved a great position in Paradise by spending their time in the way of Allah...

Now, those who did achieve a position in Paradise will start regretting by looking at those who did more than them and are higher in status...“ Alas!! If we had only done more to please Allah....!!! "

If this information is beneficial to you, then please do forward it to your friends and relatives....

The Prophet of Allah (SAW) said; "Whoever guides or directs to good, then he gets the same amount of Blessing (Reward) as the one who does..

AL-GHASHIYAH (THE OVERWHELMING EVENT)
88: 1-4

Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?

[Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled,

Working [hard] and exhausted.

They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire.
........................................................................

88:8-10

[Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure.

With their effort [they are] satisfied

In an elevated garden,

I just want to highlight the differences between the set of people who will enter jahanam and those who will enter jannah. We understand from the verses that the people of the hell fire did not strive, hence they struggle on the day of judgemet. While the people of jannah are pleased with what they had already striven for.

May Allah make us of those who strive for goodness and are pleased in the hereafter.

[It will be said to the losers of the judgment day]. "Were not My verses recited to you and you used to deny them?"

They will say, "Our Lord, our wretchedness overcame us, and we were a people astray.

Our Lord, remove us from it, and if we were to return [to evil], we would indeed be wrongdoers."

He(Allaah) will say, "Remain despised therein and do not speak to Me"

Indeed, there was a party of My servants who said, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful.'

But you took them in mockery to the point that they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them.

Indeed, I have rewarded them this Day for their patient endurance - that they are the attainers [of success].

[Allaah] will say, "How long did you remain on earth in number of years?"

They will say, "We remained a day or part of a day; ask those who enumerate."

He will say, "You stayed not but a little - if only you had known.

Then did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you would not be returned?

So exalted is Allaah , the Sovereign, the Truth; there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne.{Quran 23:100-116}

Al-Bukhaari (6502) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah says: ‘Whoever takes a close friend of Mine as an enemy, I declare war on him. My slave does not draw closer to Me by anything more beloved to Me than that which I have made obligatory upon him, and My slave continues to draw closer to Me by doing naafil (supererogatory) deeds until I love him, and if I love him I will be his hearing with which he hears, his vision with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. If he were to ask of Me, I would surely give to him; if he were to seek refuge with Me, I would surely grant him refuge. I do not hesitate about anything that I want to do as I hesitate to take the soul of a believer, for he hates death and I hate to hurt him.”

This is actually directed to men:-

Etiquette Of A Righteous Husband

Khutbah from Shaykh ‘Abdul Muhsin Al-Qasim,
Imaam of Masjid An-Nabawee

Whoever comes from a kind and compassionate
background will have a tender heart and so such
men must bear in mind that their wife is the one
who gave birth to his children, takes care of his
wealth and maintains his secrets. So be kind to
your wives and openly express your joy, for
smiling livens the heart and wipes away hatred,
and praising the wife for her appearance,
cooking and adornment wins her heart.

Moreover, Islam has allowed husbands to lie to their wives in order to increase the love between them.

Exchanging gifts is the key to winning a heart
and is a reflection of one’s love.

Being easy upon one’s wife, abandoning ambiguity and bad communication and arrogance are ways to achieve a lasting happy marital life.

‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
“A man should be like a child with his wife, happy and easy going, but when he sits with men, he should act as they do.”

Be an upright and straightforward man and your
wife will thereby also improve and become more
righteous, by the will of Allah.

Do not look at that which is unlawful for you to
do so, because the evil consequences of this sin
will impact upon your house. Watching women on satellite television causes one’s wife to appear ugly and unpleasant, and lowers one’s rank in her sight, which is a reason why hearts become distant and love diminishes, which in turn causes conflicts to emerge.

Deal with your wife as you would like her to deal with you in all areas, because it is natural that she would like you to be with her as you would like her to be with you.

Ibn ‘Abbaas, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
“I like to take care of my appearance for my wife just as I would like her to beautify herself for me.”

Listen to your wife’s criticism with an open mind and heart because the wives of the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would too discuss his opinions without him becoming angry.

Also a husband should not take from his wife’s wealth without her permission, because it belongs to her.

Treat her kindly and be generous with her and do not be stingy; remember that your wife likes to talk to you regarding all her affairs, so be attentive and listen to her; indeed this is a reflection of perfect manners.

Never go home with a gloomy face because your children need to clearly see your love and sympathy; be kind to your children and make them enjoy your presence, guidance and instructions and always listen to them. Whenever the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would see Faatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, he would say: “ Welcome, O my daughter!” Then he would seat her to his right or left. (Muslim)

Being kind to the members of one’s household reflects real manhood, as Al-Baraa’, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “I entered upon Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, in his house; he saw his daughter ‘Aa’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, lying down with a fever, so Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, kissed her on the cheek and asked: ‘How are you feeling my daughter?’” (Bukhari)

Helping at home is a sign of ones faithfulness; ‘Aa’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, was
asked what the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would do while at home, she replied, ‘ He was just like any other human being, he would sew his garment, milk the sheep and serve himself.’ (Ahmad)

Being generous with ones family is the best charity that one can give and time spent with ones friends should not be at the expense of that with ones family, for they are worthier to spend ones time with.

Never remind your wife with mistakes that she may have made, nor hint about her shortcomings.

Conceal your problems from the children because it has a negative affect on them and reduces the respect they have towards their parents.

Anger is the cause of all disputes, and the relation between a man and his wife is far too valuable to ruin in a moment of anger; remain silent whenever you become upset and remember that forgiveness is closer to piety and wisdom.

‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “Women should be kept at home and their anger dealt with by remaining quiet.”

The rights of the wife are great and only a noble man will fully honour his wife and respect her. ‘Aa’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said: “The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would always mention Khadeejah, and he would always slaughter sheep, divide them, and then distribute it among her friends, He did this so much that I once said to him: ‘You act as though there are no other women apart from Khadeejah’” (al-Bukhari)
