Toks2008:Like someone said earlier in ur thread (eventhough i read it through), you are been vague about whether you want to call masturbation a sin or not and at the same time you are quick to tell believers who think otherwise to "shut up" cos there is not a scripture that mentions masturbation explicitly! I want to believe you are a "Christian" except you say otherwise cos u copiously "buttressed" your points with "scripturally backing"! 1. Have you by chance read 1Cor 10:31? Please do, cos for me that portion of scripture clarifies explicitly what is SIN no matter what anyone says! This qstn answers the "self-justifying qstns" some folks ask to have a "go-ahead" on what their conscience denies! Back to ur confusing proposition: From that scripture If you can honestly say that you give God glory when you self-service, then I leave you to ur conscience. 2. If you are a christian (christ-like), and you are conscious of Gods all seeing eyes (remember you are His temple) when committing the act, and when you are done, you have NO element of guilt, then like the first, i leave u wt ur conscience (that's if you have one -cos the bible makes us understand that some have conscience that is dead)! When it comes to SIN there is no grey, its all in black and white! Paint it how u may, try to be politically correct, the bible still calls it SIN! |

Good evening o.p! I have read this topic from the beginning to this page I must commend your views and submissions. I also want to appreciate your openness and humility however I would not argue with you but to remind us that when the use of anything is not known abuse is inevitable having said this. The book of 1st corinthians 6:9 is the only place in the bible I would want you to meditate on it. That passage talks about abusers of themselves. And I must agree with you that the holy bible contains everything even the masterbaton in question. I want to also encourage Christians all over the world to be careful with our approach to issues like this. The o.p has a valid point and he was even humble enough to ask for bible references yet all he got were few quotes and abuse on the other hand the o.p said he is a believer and in fact holy ghost born again as you call it and I'm tempted to say you should also watch yourselve looking at the way you reply people.please I am just here to encourage you and other Christians let us stop bashing ourselves over little things like this but pray for inspiration and understand....Thank you and God bless us. Shallom................. |

Isaacmacdon:No, I am not blind. Be calm bro, I am a fellow Christian and I am not trying to pick a fight with you. Being called a hypocrite is not being insulted. A hypocrite is a person who doesn't stand by his word, who claims to believe one thing and then follows another. When Peter was eating with gentiles and Paul came with other Jews, he refrained. That was hypocrisy. Paul rebuked him and he repented. Jesus called the Pharisees hypocrites multiple times, not to insult them but to make them check themselves. That is why I said nothing about him 'insulting' you. All you had to do was be sure you aren't one and tell him you are not one, rather than insult him and buttress his point. |

The fact that you feel guilty after the act confirms that it is a sin. OP you know the truth and please pray to God to help you overcome the act because it is, destructive in all sense, health wise, psychologically, morally, spiritually. So please if you are into the act or you know people who are into the act, try and find way to stop it and help them also to stop. Masturbation is a burden and evil and it destroys your self esteem as a man in a way, so quit. Peace. |

Isaacmacdon:Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,… the truth have been revealed to all men. I have up on the op when I knew what manner of man he is. How can u begin to teach him deep things of the Scripture, when he is yet to understand the basics. Hebrews 5:11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. |

First, we must understand that our sexual organs are good and beautiful because they were given to us by God for the most noble purpose of continuing the human race. Genesis 1:2728 says: "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them. 'Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.'" (NIV) Our sexual organs were given to us by God; his for her and hers for him so that this command can be fulfilled. Second, the sex act in marriage is also good and beautiful because of its twofold God-given purpose: for the generation of children, and as an expression of true mutual love between the spouses. God performed the initial act of creation when He formed Adam and took the woman from his side. In the sex act in marriage, the couple is complying with God's command and is in essence performing an act of re-creation; with God's help they are creating a new life. Masturbation is the deliberate stimulation of the sex organ in order to derive sexual pleasure. As such, it is an act of recreation rather than re-creation and is ordered toward self rather than toward God. The 6th Commandment is "You shall not commit adultery" (Exodus 20:14; Deuteronomy 5:18) and this prohibits any sexual activity except with one's lifelong partner in the Sacrament of Matrimony. Even if you are not married, the teaching of the Catholic Church has always been that the 6th Commandment encompasses all sexual activity. After all, Jesus said that the greatest commandment was that you shall "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength" (Mark 12:30, NIV) and self-centered recreational sexual activity violates this command. |

firstking01:Nice one. In support, The fact is anyone that masturbates and stops couldn't have done it without God. And i'm also sure the person must have decided to stop having had some encounters with God. For me personally, I made up my mind to fight the demon wen I realised each time I masturbated, some unpleasant things happened to me. I knew God loved me and was trying to help me stop. So I started the war and I won. One thing that is however worth adding is if one intends to stop masturbating, one must also be ready to give up sex. The two work together. Talking about an unmarried person dou! |

Toks2008:Mr man! The gist is you cannot be maturbating and not picture @ least one naked woman in your head. And d naked woman will be a woman you know. So what's the difference between watching porn and that. Masturbation is a sin. You are probably just trying to justify a sinful life like many christian do. |

Hmm! Perfect brainwashing, your write-up look some how philosophical and you detest that. However as a Muslim, the Quran has made forbidden clean cut clear masturbation as He Allah says in the glorious Quran in chapter 23, verses 1-7 ( the believers); and i quote; 1. Successful indeed are the believers. 2. Those who offer their prayers with all solemnity and full submissiveness. 3. And those who turn away from Al-laghw(dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and all that Alláh has forbidden). 4. And those who pay zakat (the poor due). 5. And those who guard their chastity (i.e private part, from illegal sexual act). 6. Except from their wives or (the slave) that their right hands possess, for them, they have no blame. 7. But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors;. End of quote. So from the very last verse we can see that the intent motive why people masturbate is to get pleasure from it, which is also one of the reasons people who get married get involve in sex. So whoever seeks to get this pleasure outside marriage is termed as a sin in the faith of Islam. In summary, masturbation, fornication and adultery are all forbidden in the light of Islam. |

foolishness is what you are displaying masturbation is a weakness and an addiction, it is senseless and not the original pattern of sex predestined for human. God created a way sex is supposed to be practiced and if it is not that way it is perversion, I am not perfect because I was addicted to this for a long time, but don't deceive urself masturbation cannot come without lust for the opposite sex. that's a confirmation that it's sin, because you cannot or u don't have enough grace or discipline to live without you do not give u a reason to justify ur weakness, this is part of the greatest problems in christiandom when people are lazy and don't want to be discipline they frame something from their philosophical mentality. you must worship the Lord your God in spirit and in truth. |

Toks2008:Misleading, bro. I don't want to buy this cos it's too cheap. Raise the standard, may be I may negotiate or buy. So if I go into robbery and if my mind do not condemn me or I find a good reason to justify my act, then I'm not committing sin and the other man stealing wt his mind condemning him is committing sin. This is pathetic. I wonder when mind of men become yardstick for God to determine what is sin or not. |

firstking01:I think the issue of what is allowed by the conscience is relative. Some cultures may permit marrying a distant relation while some don't. Those that allow will never feel guilty marrying such relatives. Even is religions, there are things allowed which the practitioner will not see as a sin but a non practitioner will cringe from doing same. CONSCIENCE IS RELATIVE. However, I see masturbation as a sin because of my conscience. Yet to see strong disapproval of it in the Bible. |
