People just give wayward activities different names today. Look at the words like 'masturbation', 'self-service', 'lapdance'' 'twerking' etc. Many attimes these words are used with little regard for the root phenomenon which is nothing other than LUST. Whenever you long for any of the above it is undisputed that you are in fact lusting after someone or some concept of a morally debasing nature. It is not enough to come out to debate whether masturbation is a sin or not. We must look inwardly. What leads to the act? Why am i so engrossed in it that i even derive pleasure when i'm supposed to be feeling guilt. Can a person who masturbates in secret claim to be holy? Surely not. We must constantly review our actions not in the light of the modern world but in line with the scriptures. If masturbation takes you away from God then it is without question a sin.

The point is that masturbation in itself is not a sin and was never mentioned as a sin in the bible but i see it as a habit like every other good or bad habits as decided by an individual but don't tag it a sin.

The funny side to it is that people usually associate sexual thoughts that come with the act a sin and i still don't understand how it becomes a sin for me to have sexual thoughts...for petes sake i am a sexually active man and i think sex everyday. If you dont think about sex as a young unmarried man or woman then something might just be wrong somewhere.

Viewing pornography is a sin because those involved in the film are fornicating and when you watch porn you tend to lust after the characters but please what has sin got to do with a sexually active person easing off sexual passion without visual lust or hurting anyone and in the bid to wade off possible fornication which is a clear sin according to the Bible.

There are no two ways to it, as long as you are sexually active and single, you will always be left with 3 options..FORNICATE,SELF SERVICE OR BURN WITH PASSION and trust me the third option will even be truncated when you have wet dreams because sex deprivation for a sexually active person usually leads to wet dreams where you will equally ease of and that to some people is even a sin.

Our problem as individuals is that most people have no minds of their own, they follow what the pastors say and will never take time out to understand what GOD says about a matter from the scriptures.

The most annoying thing is that i can bet my balls on it that all the guys who commented against this piece are so guilty of masturbation and most likely fornication.

One of the worst sins in life is hypocrisy and GOD hates hypocrites. It is also very sickening that many people these days are very very shallow minded, zombie like in mentality and they lack the dexterity to discuss matters intelligently.

You tell someone not to go there and the person asked why and you say just don't go there then you must either be dumb orhave something you are hiding.

I want every pastor calling self servicing as an act a sin to come on board and make me understand why it is.

Too sad lalasticlala sometimes usually get biased to put factual threads on frontpage so that people can discuss.

The first part of your post makes sense but the last part ricks ignorance, foolishness and grave stupidity to use those terms.

If you are too mentally empty to discuss matters without using abusive words then do yourself the honour of keeping mum..

There are many addictive habits out there and if you read my piece which I know you did not..you would have seen it there.

My point is..masturbation is a habit and not a sin and just like any other innocuous habit like eating food, eating chocolates, betting and many others can destroy your life if unchecked but that does not make these habits sinful...please is this too hard for you all to decipher?

If you have ever self serviced, fornicated or watched pornography or lust after a lady in the last 30days then you are the most hypocritical hell bound person in existence.

I am not passing judgment but im stating the fact.

Many people are in hell today because of people like you as you keep preaching one thing while practicing another.

Many ladies refuse to get born again because they cant imagine not wearing jewelries, trousers and putting on make up and weave ons. Amazingly, many guys have reneged their faith as believers because they can't stop taking alcohol and i really wonder if drunkenness is the same as taking a bottle of stout or a glass of wine.

Believe me, GOD in his infinite awesomeness will look down and laugh at the foolishness of men when it comes to some issues.

Whatever you get addicted to becomes detrimental to your life and that does not make that thing a sin so please call a spade spade.

Addiction to food, water,Internet, normal drugs and so on can be harmful to you but does that make those things a sin?

It is so unfortunate that some of you coming to talk down on sound minded individuals who see self service as a potential bad habit if unchecked rather than call it sin goes to show how shallow minded you people are.

I am happy that i am on nairaland to point out the hypocrisy of many people and i really dont give a hute if lalasticlala does not put some topics of mine on front-page...for all i care,i have passed the message.

A married woman or man whose spouse is not around for a long time can masturbate with super relish just imagining making love to the spouse and in like manner an unmarried person can ease off by thinking about sex which is perfectly normal as human or is thinking about sex also a sin?

But when you watch porn to masturbate, you lust after the characters in the film or magazines and when you watch porn at all, you also commit fornication cos you lust after the characters as the bible says if you LOOK at a woman or man lustfully it becomes a sin.

My duty as a believer is to win as many people as possible into GOD's kingdom not by preaching heresy or from my ideology. The bible is silent about it so why should i use human philosophy to decide what is sin or sinless.

Many people are in hell today because after they gave their life to christ, they see themselves still self servicing and in their own mind because of the false doctrines from people like you and firstking01 gave up their salvation because they felt they cant make the kingdom of GOD.

If anyone comes online again to discredit what i wrote up there without vivid back up from the sriptures na e-slap sure pass for that person.HYPOCRITES EVERYWHERE.
. Well I think you are right many perish due to lack of wisdom. But again I think anything concerning sex or sexually active is spiritual besides it can be harmful to health and anything the bible consider harmful is a sin .my opinion sha

Lol! you don't bother about that.

That is the hypocrisy I talked about and it happens every where. Front page is not about what a mod likes.

I see threads about self servicing being portrayed as a sin from time to time but here is a thread that explains the vivid side to it so calling him is vital and its his job to either put it out or not.

Finally YES I'm not being paid but writing is a deep passion I have and when I write, I write stuffs that are worth it regardless of people's opinion.

I just might set up a vlog so that I can continue my passion there and leave nairaland for good.

God created sex and saw that it was good. However there are various premises in which God has said we can enjoy sex.

Thinking lustfully of your legally married wife is not a sin, obviously as God himself has sanctified the marriage union.

A lot of young men masturbate without thinking of any woman. This usually happens in the early teenage years.

Also as a young man not engaged in sexual intercourse, you are bound to have wet dreams once in a while. I don't think that is a sin. I have seen at least two young men come to my Office crying that they had wet dreams in the night and they think it is spiritual attack or that they have sinned. That is ignorance of the highest order. A sin becomes a sin when you think about it, deliberate/plan it, and finally execute it and the end result is not in keeping with God's laws. If you werent thinking anything sexual when u went to sleep, and u had a wet dream, how can it be a sin? Its different if u occupied your mind with bisi, the girl that lives down the street , or you were watching porn before going to sleep.

One of the ways the devil decieves and discourages christians is to make them feel so guilty that they no longer feel God's love. That is why the devil is called the accuser of the brethren. A christain can feel so discouraged , that he may feel he no longer needs to run the Christian race. Its called despair and its a sin against the Holy Spirit.

Do not be so overcome by guilt that you no longer feel God's unwavering love.

P.S, for those of you insulting the op, it would be more christlike to stop with the insults and pass your comments across more intelligently. I'm surprised not one of you have quoted Onan's case, yet you claim to know your bible infallibily and refuse to open your minds to learning. It is the same bible that says you should study to show yourself approved; the same bible says you should test every word.1Thessalonians 5:21.
Stop following your pastors blindly. They are not Jesus. They are not God.

I'm still not for or against op's post, just disappointed at the way some christians here are trying to pass their points across.

Having wet dreams is not a sin. Stop creating confusing impressions here to defend ur debauched state. When one has a dream he is not aware. He is not conscious of what's going on. It is not deliberate.

I have asked some questions but people shy away from it.

Marriage is the first step to stopping masturbation...

The problem is that we have become so hypocritical about some things in life.

Is sexual thought a sin?

Is it a sin to have wet dreams

is it a sin to touch your sexual organs?

Is it a sin to defecate and urinate?

Why does it become a sin to ease off sexual tension when your system yearns for fornication proper?

If after marriage you still find yourself doing it then its either your spouse is depriving you of regular sex or you have crossed the line.

I hate it when people use human ideology to suggest what is sinful and what is not...i t is heresy and a grave sin to add or subtract from Gods words.

Do you know that soldiers during war masturbates? intact I saw a documentary where they used a intimacy gadget and I was like this is fair enough.

Do you know that doctors recommend self service to some people?

In fact I don't know what to say.

The problem is that we want relief, and sin is the way. But if we agree in advance that the way of the faith must inevitably involve suffering, then we are truly living the gospel and have transferred out of the power of evil and into God's will.

And masturbation, never forbidden by God, can be used as one of the ways that we can "learn to control our bodies"; not by inflaming the body with pornography or fantasies so that it can be done too often, but in using it to keep ourselves from dangerous, physical temptation.

Has anyone ever wondered why God even made masturbation possible for us? I believe it is a true blessing as a way to keep your body under control. from sexual immorality which was fully listed in my post on page 1.

For singles, God has given the ability to masturbate, and has not forbidden it. For married couples who are apart and who are thinking of each other, the same applies.

But God has most definitely forbidden sinful thoughts that so often accompany masturbation which usually comes as lust and as we know, visual lust is indeed fornication and when you fantasize about sex I believe it is a build up to fornication and while some people give in to the sin of fornication, some may decide to ease off and forget about fornicating.

I will continue to say that masturbating is a habit and not a sin and like many other habits, one needs to check it...some people masturbate once a day, some once a week and some once a month while some have allowed addiction to set in and they do it several times a day and that is why people now tag it a sin.

Fornication is sin
Watching Pornography is sin(Because you will lust after the people in the film and the Bible says lustful look is a sin)
Visual Pornographic induced masturbation is sin(Same as above(
Sexual thought is healthy
masturbating to wade off fornication is not a sin.

The argument is what do you think about when you masturbate? ?the girl next door? a sexual act you have had in the past?...for whatever it is,i do not see how thinking about sex translates to sin else all of us will definitely end up in hell because as i type this, i am thinking about sex.

The problem is the addiction which makes people confuse it for a sin but the truth is that you can be addicted to many sinless acts.

My main aim of creating this thread is to prevent countless people from giving up their salvation because they find themselves masturbating and to tell them not to despair and count themselves unworthy for GOD's kingdom and to encoutrage them to use masturbation to put their body under check rather than explode with passion by raping, molesting or fornicating...that is the aim of this write up.

I have a very close female friend who is about 31 years. She told me last week that she has vowed never to allow any man take advantage of her again and she told me of how she masturbates sexual tension off her body which has helped her to stay clear of fornication for a year or more.

While some people crave for sex even after masturbating, it can not be denied that teh act has saved many people from committing fornication over and over again.

Some people have really seen GOD as so mean that he will create a sexual drive in us, forbids us to fornicate and then counts it as sin if we decide to put off sexual drive habba.

I think if a person just discovers masturbation they could get addicted ( addiction of any kind is a sin) like every other pleasurable activity (weed, drinking etc)

But a person who can control it, say once a week or month (self control) then it is not a sin.
I really don't know. This amount of data which emanates from this subject is always inconclusive.
Mayb its one of those paradox we're don't yet understand.

Sexual thought is not healthy.

As a man thinketh, so is he. Let him fill up his mind with impure thoughts and that is what he will eventually become.

Philippians 4:8 - And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Yeah i know which is why i wrote that it has been defined by human ideology. They have helped GOD to add it to the list of sins and have found a way to merge it with sexual immorality which was well explained in the bible.

Leviticus 18:1-22New International Version (NIV)

Unlawful Sexual Relations(Sexually immoral acts

18 The Lord said to Moses,2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘I am the Lord your God. 3 You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices. 4 You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the Lordyour God. 5 Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord.

6 “‘No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the Lord.

7 “‘Do not dishonor your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; do not have relations with her.

8 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your father’s wife; that would dishonor your father.

9 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere.

10 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter; that would dishonor you.

11 “‘Do not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father’s wife, born to your father; she is your sister.

12 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your father’s sister; she is your father’s close relative.

13 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your mother’s sister, because she is your mother’s close relative.

14 “‘Do not dishonor your father’s brother by approaching his wife to have sexual relations; she is your aunt.

15 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son’s wife; do not have relations with her.

16 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your brother’s wife; that would dishonor your brother.

17 “‘Do not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. Do not have sexual relations with either her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter; they are her close relatives. That is wickedness.

18 “‘Do not take your wife’s sister as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is living.

19 “‘Do not approach a woman to have sexual relations during the uncleanness of her monthly period.

20 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor’s wife and defile yourself with her.

21 “‘Do not give any of your childrento be sacrificed to Molek, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the Lord.

22 “‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman;that is detestable.

I love the way you put it.."NOT HEALTHY" because if concieved will lead to fornication but sexual thoughts is definitely not a sin.

As i wrote in the article, if your heart condemns you anytime you self service then stop it but if the condemnation is because you think it is a sin please understand that it is a better alternative to fornication but if you can keep to yourself without fornicating or self servicing please do as that will help you a great deal BUT SELF SERVICING IS NOT A SIN.

But for all i care, getting married is one sure step to prevent or stop self servicing.

Total and Outright Rubbish.... What is bad is bad. No matter how you try to paint it. It doesn't matter if the whole world is commiting masturbation, fornication. That can never make it right. f

Stop luring people into hell with this your heresy teachings, masturbation is a sin...i dnt knw if you read where i posted that for the fact that a thing is not in the bible doesn't mean it's not a sin...listen to me mr toks2008, some years bk God warned me seriously about masturbation and it's dangers, it has negative repercussions...if you like believe it or not...just like smoking and drinking is a sin but it's not specifically stated in the bible but symbolically and spiritually, smoking and drinking represents gluttony and dirtiness.

from the biological standpoint, sex is one of the vital characteristics of life
and should be indulged in regularly to maintain a healthy state.
whether you like it or not. so the veteran masturbators and masturbatresses
should do themselves a favour by finding a willing pleasure partner ASAP.
