Hi Ikenna, I'm so glad to come across this post. My friend has a Peugeot 407 and has been having issues with the engine and some noise from the tyre. I recommended we talk to a Peugeot specialist in order to avoid further damages and unnecessary extra costs . Please I will like to reach you and seek for your advice on the car and possible repair places in Lagos.
Please, My email is smilish20072007@yahoo.com. Can you kindly email me your contact details so we can further discuss.
I will really appreciate your help as we've been looking for Peugeot specialist for a long time.
Thanks.

This thread is for Lion owners, aspiring owners, Lion admirers and friends of Lions (former Peugeot owners).

If you are having any issue(s) with your Lion, you can seek for help here on how to sort it out. Someone might have a soluton to the nightmare the Lion is giving you.

We can as well post our experiences with our various Lions; both unhappy and happy ones.

Sometime early this year, very close to my office, I saw a 505 V6 packed in an "under Mango Tree Mechanic workshop". I went there and asked for the owner, for i wanted to see and know another fellow that own such a rare car like mine (505 V6) in Abuja. I was told the owner dropped the car over a week with them and the car was yet to be fixed. I asked what was wrong with the car, the mechanic became uncomfortable why my interest in the car and why i wanted to see the car owner. I explained to him that I own the same version of the 505 which is rare in Nigeria and I would like to know the owner, thats all. Well, he tried to explain to me what was wrong with the car, but he wasnt making sense. So I asked him to allow me to see the engine bay. When he opened the hood, I was shocked! Nearly all the vacuum lines were cut off from their various terminals. Weird! Well, i then asked him to start the car, when he did, i saw what or how the engine was behaving and knew right there the issue: an injection issue. A lot of things were wrong in that engine bay. No matter what the mechanic would tried to do, that issue must remain there, since all he explained to me he had done or replaced had nothing to do with the issue the car was having. In fact, he was creating more problems with his trial and error for that engine. He even replaced the MAF and installed the wrong part number (Luckly, I know the part number off head, since I have a similar car, with identical engine). I tried to get the owners phone number from him, but he wouldnt give me. Instead, he asked me to drop mine, that he would give the car owner whenever he comes, to call me. I made a note on the paper i gave to the mechanic to give to owner where i wrote down my number, explaining reason why i would want to meet with him, believing that the mechanic wouldnt understand what was written. I left them, after i realised that my presence there was no longer welcomed. As suspected, the owner never called because the mechanic would not have given him the note; fear that i want to collect chop from him! For another 3 more weeks, the car remained there at that workshop each time i passed there. At a point, I even forgot about it. 2 months later, i remembered, went back to check and the car was no longer there. Could be that the owner has towed the car to another workshop or only God knows what has happened to that car. This was a car I would have fixed that for person less than 24hrs, without a dime, if i had met him. There is no injection and ignition issue of 505 V6 i cannot fix myself. I have studied and mastered every wire from the 2 ECUs to various sensors, by knowing the function of each wire, sensors and components in that engine bay. I could tell quickly what is wrong with that EFI system and what the culprit would be with a little test with multimeter and test light. I dont need any scanner to diagnose and fix Bosch LH 2-2 Jetronic (EFI system of ZN3J - the PRV V6 engine in 505 V6). I couldnt help the guy because he was unlucky. If we had met in nairaland, he would have been saved from the hands of that clown that was killing the car when i went there. Possibly, he may have scrapped the car by now. Because there is no way that car would run properly with the condition i met it that day. So many wrongs were done in that engine bay.

Lets share our problems here in this thread and possibly get help from ourselves in keeping our Lions on the road as long as it takes.

Ikenna.

Gudaftanoon. @ Ikenna, i drive a 406 prestige wit an EW10 engine. Wen eva it rains & i'm on d road & move on water and have it splash dat it touches under the engine, d car tends 2 decelerate. I always have 2 step on d throttle to finish 2 hv it move. It moves & slows and sumtyms offs bt cums on immediately i kick it. If i clear by d road & watch d dash board i see the acceleration dropin and restoring continuously instead of jst remain at a particular point & steam. For me to reach my destination i'l hv 2 step on the throttle fully for it 2 fire reduce, fire reduce. On and on lik dat til d engine goes so hot & d shit stops 2 resume again wen i'v parked & it cools off. It can continue lik dis 4 ova 3days b4 it normalises again. Pls help me out cos its so embarrassing.

Ikenna or any expert in the house I stay in Abuja. please I just bought a fairly used 406 Manual drive EW10 (Belgium Engine) and these are what I observed about it.

1. The gear feels loose and difficult to engage and the reverse option is also a challenge engaging.

2. When on reverse, the engine vibrates and when taking off on first gear the engine vibrates too.

3. I perceive a little smoke from inside when ever I stop or slow down after throttling hard.

4. After some time driving, usually in gear two or four the engine vibrates and the steering wheel vibrates too.

5. The Fuel gauge pointer fluctuates all the time the car is turned on.

Ikenna351:

First thing you need to do is to understand your lion, know your engine before you decide what to do on the condition you are facing.

That your Cub engine looks like TU (1.4 liter) doesn't necessarily mean its 1.4 litre. TU5JP, which is 1. 6 liter , looks like TU3JP (1.4 L), just like EW10J4 & EW7J4 Peugeot engines. Not many people or mechanics know about this. So you may end up buying parts or part of engine that may not fit well on the current engine in the lion or not match the Cub's injection system.

Also, we don't have only one TU3 (1.4 L) in Peugeot 206s. For example, we have TU3J4, TU3A, etc. Their timing belts differ. For example, there is a TU engine with 101 teeth timing belt, while there is another with 104 & 109 teeth. So you have to specifically know what TU engine is in your lion, before you decide what to do, the right parts for it or whatever you choose to do.

It's easy. Look up for your Cub's engine model in Peugeot database and take it from there. Or you choose whatever feels good to you.

God bless u bro ,got the engine in solid condition direct tokunbo it was actually an automatic TU3A 1.4 8valve. so the gearbox was detached and sold to me..still rocking it till now and travelled eith it. my only issue nw is my BSM.. doesnt send proper contact to fuel pump to send fuel..somtime whn i leav the car in slow after 5mins it off..or if my fuel is at rrserve it off and i have to rrstart always..

I wouldn't know why because there is nothing under D9 that should cause it, as long as you don't swim with the Lion.

I recently got this Peugeot 307, Manual Transmission, 2 doors with EW10 Engine. I want to know some maintenance tips, as my last car was a Honda Civic, I'm quite sure this brand has different tips and some other hidden truths.
I also want to know the fuel economy, like how many kilometres can I cover with full tank estimately and probably what I must avoid doing.

I don't get myself involved in driving position converted lions.

As for depollution and ABS warning faults, find and scan the Lion's engine ECU & ABS ECU with PP2000.

For now, I can only vouch for OEM brake disc & pads for 407 (popularly known as PAN). There could be other good aftermarket brands in Nigeria already. It's up to you.

My 5-day trip from Abuja to Kaduna, 30/09/2015 - 04/10/2015, in my Peugeot 406 V6 SV D9 with 5-speed manual and 4 brand new Michelin tyres. What a sweet experience. On each of the journeys, I would arrived my destinations fresh as I was before the departure. The Lion's performance was awesome. The road handling of the Lion on those 4 brand new Michelin tyres (Primacy 3) was so thrilling.

I woke up this morning and found myself still smiling for how happy I am due to the treat the lion gave to me and allowed me to enjoy in those 5 days. I am so happy and grateful to God and Universe for giving me these magnificent Peugeot cars and the more that continue to come in.

I love my Lions!

Ikenna, the Lion King.
please any idea how much I can get those rims for my 407?
