if we're paying then we're buying. The transfer seems like we're being offered a gift.

All that rust shocked shocked shocked

I know that as long as the internals are clean it's not a problem.

But as a gun enthusiast, that picture gave me cancer
It is definitely rusty on the inside as well.

What's he looking for?

He is staring down the barrel, checking the rifling,
Ensuring the chamber is free.

That hold position ensures that the trigger finger is on the butt of the rifle. So nothing risky.

Actually, you have seen it before. You saw it last year, and the year before, in the October 1st photos/videos we shared.

Let me clear this one.

I shared that particular photo back in 2013 when Nigerian forces first deployed to Mali. That's not rust, what you're seeing in that photo is an effect of a sandstorm. You can see the soldiers hand and mask, brown in dust, and he has his goggles on.

......Because of the proximity of the AO to the Sahara desert, it sits right on the desert. There are usually very frequent sandstorms. Soldiers had to wear Goggles and balaclava to operate.

Photo related Nigerian soldier in Mali; Nigerians came kitted this way as an operational requirement.

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE COMMENCES OPERATION FOREST
STORM AGAINST BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS IN SAMBISA
FOREST, DESTROYS MORE ILLEGAL OIL REFINERIES AND
BARGES IN NIGER DELTA

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced another round
of air interdiction missions codenamed ‘OPERATION FOREST
STORM’ in the North East.
This new phase of offensive air
operations is aimed at further degrading the capabilities of
the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) in the Sambisa general
area with a view to restrict the freedom of action of the
insurgents as well as neutralise any threat posed to
movement of own ground forces in continuing with their
rescue operations. The operation, which commenced about
3 days ago on 2 October 2016, is expected to last few days.
During this period, the NAF would be conducting series of air
interdictions to take out a number of carefully selected
targets in the Sambisa Forest.
Meanwhile, the Air Component of OPERATION DELTA SAFE
has continued to rid the creeks in the Niger Delta of illegal
oil refineries and barges used for carrying stolen petroleum
products. The NAF today, using the EC-135 helicopters,
destroyed illegal refineries and barges along east of Isaa
town, Borikiri, old Bakana as well as Bakana and Bille
Communities.
Armed patrol over the affected areas also
showed other illegal human activities as people were seen
digging bays to bury storage tanks, drums and jerry cans.
While urging these criminal elements to seek legitimate
means of livelihood, it is pertinent to state that the NAF will
not relent in its spirited effort to stamp out these acts of
economic sabotage and illicit activities in the region and
other parts of the country.

Thanks!!! It's just it goes against everything I've ever learned about gun safety.....although extremely rare guns do go of due to mechanical failure, as i young boy the first thing i was taught was to never point a rifle at anyone or look down the barrel....and even today, the only time i ever look down my rifle's barrel is when im cleaning it and have removed/checked the bolt/chamber and have removed the magazine!!

But obviously these guns are not loaded, so thus no chance of any accidental discharge, it just looks so awkward imo, but hey that's your military's tradition and i can respect that!! all in all i enjoyed the drill, definitely something different to what ive seen...but in a good way!

and no ive not seen the previous Oktober 1st videos!

I respect that comment. That's why i always say you're smarter than Mr "P" gringringrin

It's a Nigerian military tradition and we've been doing it for more than 50 years.

If you think this drill was enjoyable, then, you need to see what the Nigerian army did when we had a massive parade in 2010. The guys holding the Nigerian national flag and flag of the Nigerian army were at least 100. They were doing a military march with sorrowful theme/song/band, intended to honour the Nigerian army dead. It was exquisite... Beautiful "rythmn".

Although the army always does this "sorrowful drill", like in this October 1st video, they only use 2 guys.

They allow you guys own guns in RSA?

[b]NAF SIGNS MoU WITH PORTUGAL ON LOCAL PRODUCTION
OF UAV

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today signed a Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) with the UAVision of Portugal. The
MoU is aimed at enhancing existing collaboration between
NAF and UAVision of Portugal for local production of
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in Nigeria. It is pertinent
to note that the discussion that led to the signing of today’s
agreement actually began few months ago. Already, the
collaboration had led to production of 4 UAVs prototypes
with 2 each produced in Nigeria and Portugal.

Meanwhile, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Mshl Sadique
Abubakar has expressed the optimism that the locally
produced UAVs would be commissioned before the end of
October 2016. The CAS, further in his speech, identified
other areas of possible collaboration with Portugal to
include tactical flying training for NAF pilot and aircraft
maintenance, stating that the essence of the collaboration is
to exploit every areas of Portuguese technological
development with a view to taking the NAF to the next level.
Prominent among the Portuguese delegation are Portuguese

Presidential Air Fleet, not Pakistani Air Force. He means some assets currently in the Presidential Air Fleet would soon be transfered to purely NAF personnel use.

The PAF is part of the Nigerian air force.

-Lets not start something here grin grin he has his opinion i have mine, nothing to do with how smart we are wink!!

Anyway, yes they allow us to own guns here, but you have to be licensed to carry/own a gun of course.....personally i have a section15 licence (Occasional hunter/Sportshooter) for my 303 ....and im planing to do my section 13 licence (Licence to possess firearm for self-defence....basically handgun/shotgun licence) in the near future....planing on buying either the Z88 or SP1,the standard service pistol of the SANDF!

Typical Africaken...... when he wants to act weird, he takes it to the extreme. His comments on that day were most unfortunate.

The 4 additional UAVs which are new means, the NAF has so far built 13 UAS. A proper MALE should be next.
