Getting the US Visa obviously isn't the most difficult thing (now I know). I think it has to do a lot with purposefulness and confidence.

I am a 20 something, single (without kids), Virgin passport holder and still got approved. I did my homework though.....read well over 300 pages of US Visa threads her on Nairaland.

My Transcript

I was interviewed by a guy...probably in his late twenties or so. I think he manned Window 3.

ME: Good Morning

VO: Your Passport please

ME: There you go.

VO: Where are you going?

ME: Texas

VO: Why are you going to Texas

ME: For a 2 Weeks training on Selective Electroplating with Sifco ASC

VO: Selective what?

ME: Selective Electroplating, It is technology that is used to repair and enhance machine parts and components.

VO: What do you do?

Me: I'm an Electroplating Engineer, I operate Electroplating machine to repair machine parts.

VO: Have you travelled before

ME: Nope (while shaking my head in disagreement), although I just graduated from the University.

VO: What did you study?

ME: Mechanical Engineering

VO: Which school

ME: Ladoke Akintola University of Technology

VO: Okay, your Visa has been approved.......he hands me the White paper and ask me to pick up my visa on Thursday.

Everything happened so fast.
I naturally tend to speak fast especially when tensed and that helped a lot (or so I think). I didn't take a pause to answer any of the questions. He asked, I answered.

I'll narrate my police harassment experience later.

My transcript wouldn't be complete if I don't say a Big Thank you to all the selfless people here on this thread (especially LadyGuinivere kiss and SeyeWest). I literally knew all that I needed, had a graphical understanding of what to expect, and walked right through the whole process.

Thank you guys kiss.

First two highlight kinda helped your case. The guy just dey hear technology anyhow and was kinda impressed.

Last two highlight no doubt have been very helpful to everybody here. They give insightful and indepth analysis to visa questions. Whoever owns Nairaland owes the both of ya for always making meaning contributions here....considering you guys are doing this stuff for free still beats my imagination... E pass full time job self

Bros are you serious? How can you write something in the comfort of your home and expect us to waste data on it... you can't replace the atmosphere in the embassy with the comfort of your home... Go through the thread properly and you won't have to cram anything.

Oh yea, am serious! You will pay the exact cash at their embassy in Abuja, I think I paid less than 4k self. The good part is you only pay the token when they issue your visa. So, if your application is rejected, you ain't paying kobo!

What I did was to book early momo flight from Lagos to Abuja, submit my application in person, come back to Lagos that morning, then return to Abuja go collect my passport 4 days later ...easiest visa ever! Pack all relevant documents with you.

But be ready to eat raw fish when you get to Japan...and na so everybody go dey bow for you like aboki grin dey too get courtesy. Their train system na die...e too sweet!

Downside: Most Japanese don't speak English or have crude knowledge of the language. So just hold your google translator waka everywhere you go.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Basically, I assume you want to visit Japan for vacation. The docs required:
Valid Passport
Letter of employment from ur work place
Letter of introduction from your work place
One passport photo
Filled Japanese visa application letter
Confirmed flight booking to Japan
Hotel booking for the whole duration of ur stay
Bank statement for the last 3months

That's about it! Just submit your application in Abuja, then wait for their mail to pick your passport. If issued, you would be required to pay the excat visa fee....can't remember exactly how much, buh less than 5k sha. If not issued, you just pick your passport without paying any dime...no strings attached!
