A possible repeal of d 14th ammendment but in the interim, tougher POE...u'll literally have to blast tongues to pass cbp. I don't wanna sound like a pessimist but anytime Republicans are in power, embassies tighten as per visa issuance, so imagine a Trump presidency...oh Lawd!

Repealing the 14th amendment is not going to be that easy and it will take some time so that shouldn't be anyone's worry. You can bet if Trump wins even before his inauguration from embassy to poe will get tougher because they will begin to silently follow what they think is his ideology. So people should get their visas asap and plan properly cos if it happens it will no longer be business as usual.

Let's hope and pray..if he gets in, it will affect more than what this thread is about .
This is a learning point though..I have always said that Donald Trump is a joke! Looks like his being confidently foolish all along wasn't without reason. It's well.

The real issue is expectations on both host and guest.
If either party doesn't clearly state their expectations for this extended stay then accusations of abuse will arise. Don't presume..it makes life easier.

We all differ in what we can tolerate and in our hygiene level. Saying ppl should treat other peoples homes as your own...hmmm. Some ppl in their own homes dont clean up after themselves, drop dishes unwashed in the sink. It maybe that the way they grew up its the younger one that cleans up after the older regardless of who is the host.

Being good friends or part of the same family doesn't mean you can live together comfortably for extended periods. The way each person lives differs. Some are messy and have no issues with it others are neat freaks and cant concentrate till the house is clean.

Exactly. On point. Expectations and different people. Neat freaks, messy people. Some can have 20 strangers, some like me struggle with just one. know ur host and guest. Wish I just knew how to highlight. Lol

I wouldn't particularly blame sexism or misogynism. Remember how Nigerians wanted change? We were "tired" of corrupt politicians...and went ahead and voted against the "institution". This is about the same thing that happened with brexit and now in America.

People are tired of "institution". Hilary exemplifies the all mighty political class... Trump is the "normal" citizen who has never been a politician and is anti establishment. The masses are tired of establishment and they've voted for "change"... I find him annoying but I think many Americans found themselves between the devil and the deep blue sea.

The press also didn't help matters... CNN particularly was really biased and I remember saying that this attention they are giving Trump will make him more popular. People love the underdog and in this election, Trump was the underdog...

It is sad sha.

Hello All,

This post is long overdue. To say I am a silent reader is an under-statement. Every single time you see 'and so so guests' I am one of those guests.

I started following this thread in 2011 when my best friend since forever and I decided to have a baby. grin . A daughter we would name Mercedes!!! (Do not judge me.. I was watching Glee at the time) Anyway last year we got married and now we are going to have a baby May 2017. Rest assured, baby name has changed.

My visa story is not eventful. I have always had US visa, but this renewal early this year got me worried because i had just moved to another country and hadn't even worked up to 4 months. I considered going to My husband's visa was still valid by a few months, mine by 3 weeks, but we decided to renew same time to streamline.

Usual questions- where do you work etc etc. When did you get married, do you have family (My husband's family is in Chicago). She then spent a surprising amount of time asking us which countries we had visited before....in great details. Anyway visa was granted. I was not pregnant then.

I contacted some hospitals in Chicago because I know that people in America do not really understand our need to pay for 'free' services. The best I did was to give them the numbers to make calls for me because who has money for long distance calls.

The cheapest option I have so far is an all inclusive package of 3500. Except epidural of about 650 and pediatrician. I do not have a quote yet for this but it shouldn't be a lot.

Well then, Good luck to America! They sure need it with this man at the helms. And good luck to us too. We pray for a better Nigeria, so that our kids will eventually see this blue passport as just an option and not what their success in life depends on.

Now that Obama would be handing over to Trump, does it mean that "Orange is the new black"?

Tchai! Time to go get a Canadian visa for next missionary journey.

I don't even think it has to do wiv sexism. As sad as it may sound I think it's more abt selfishness.

To an extent I saw dis coming, it may suprise you to knw dat lots of immigrants voted him in. Even our naija brethren. Chatting wiv some of dem gave me an insight to some of their beliefs. Majority of those dat already nationalised didn't really see anything wrong wiv his ideology or weren't 'bothered' abt his threats. After all, dy already have their blue palis.

Is it not d immigrant cbps dat stress pple d most? We were all shouting trump dis trump dat but he kept gaining popularity! No b ghosts dey vote for am na. 'Everyone' claims he's dis or dat. But wen u log in u find his followers swelling?

Dats how we are generally. Let's just pray it goes well. Most of Wat he claims he'd do can't b completed in 4 yrs anyway. So pple ve time to plan and find alternatives.

For d ammendment of d constitution dat affects dis 'family" it's not smth he can do ova nite. So God still got our backs

We will most likely travel for about 2 weeks this year so I will visit the hospital and also check others.

Anyway Chicago May'17 mamas, I dey here ooo.

yes, she already has a b1b2 visa. We plan to pay in instalments but we are scared that this will affect her when she goes back to the US to give birth next year.

this is what my fear is...
If u can't clear ur outstanding bill, how can u take care of cost of delivery.
She might be lucky and they won't ask her anything about ur son... Since u guys agreed to pay instalmentally.
But b prepared to answer the cbp in case it comes up
