How was iwobi's performance yesterday?

Will he regain his "touch"

Iwobi seems overweight to me. His touch is still there but he looks heavy on the ball. The gassing out during games is another problem too

That Guardiola is a great coach is not in dispute.

But that Manchester city is a great academy I have serious doubts. They can buy the most promising teenagers even 8, 9 and even younger from other clubs. But the quality of coaches at academy level is done by network not competence.

I remember taking a young 14 year old of Nigerian origin to Platt lane. And the first ball he collected with roll and flip they asked him, heh mate how do you do that ?

I was quite shocked, in my opinion Nigerian coaches can teach individual technique and skill far more than most British coaches.

The Nigerian coaches have the technique and ability to train. They lack facilities to help these players grow. Something that is Abundant in the Etihad Campus of Manchester City.

The English boys do not have the natural ability to make the best of what they have.

The scan is to detect a bone formation in the arm. It is either there or not. If it is there, the player is under 17. If it is not there, the player is not under the age.

Citrus drink can not make the bone formation appear in the scan.

how true is this....Inter Milan are on the brink of announcing the signing of Nigeria international John Obi Mikel, according to several reports in the Italian media.
Tuttomercatoweb.com has claimed that the Chelsea midfielder will join the Nerazzurri on a free loan, including a non-mandatory buy-back clause, after which he might have become a free agent.
It has also been suggested that Mikel has given Inter Milan chiefs his word that he will join the club next month.
That said, the Serie A side face competition for the signature of the 29-year-old, with Marseille, Valencia and teams in China monitoring his situation.
The defensive midfielder has played nonstop at Chelsea for more than ten years.

The rumor about Mikel to Inter Milan has been going on since I was born....that seems to be a yearly transfer market rumor these days.

So personally I won't put much stock to that story right now.

OPINION: NFF publish Pricewater audited report for 2016 TODAY

by Samm Audu

Against the backdrop of claims and counter claims by the Nigerian sports minister and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), we hereby challenge the NFF to without any further delays publish their audited report by PricewaterhouseCooper for this year.

Sports minister Solomon Dalung has ordered a comprehensive audit of the NFF books after world football governing body FIFA suspended issuing grants to Nigeria until the NFF properly account for over a million dollars they have paid them.

The NFF have since countered, maintaining that they already have their audited accounts by PricewaterhouseCoopers, an internationally reputable audit firm, which were “presented and adopted at the General Assembly” on Sunday in Lagos.

The FIFA, ironically the NFF’s refuge when they cry out against government inference, have questioned how the developmental grants they have paid to Nigeria are being used.

Dalung was only doing the needful to demand for an independent look at how tax payers’ money is being used by the NFF.

The minister’s order to check the financial rut in the NFF may have been late in coming, but it is better late than never as even mighty FIFA seriously frown against any form of corruption.

The bold anti-corruption fight embarked upon by the government of Muhammadu Buhari has already thrown its search light in the government, armed forces, judiciary and there is no reason why football should be exempted particularly at a time the NFF can no longer foot their bills.

The ethical reforms and drive against corruption and abuse of office that have since overtaken FIFA must now also find a place at the NFF.

No blackmail, grandstanding or intimidation must be entertained to clean the NFF and make it a much more viable and attractive partner for corporate Nigeria.

Govt demands clarification on Pinnick's nomination for CAF seat

NFF president Amaju Pinnick

The Nigerian government has demanded proper documentation leading to the nomination of NFF president Amaju Pinnick to vie for a seat on the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Pinnick’s nomination has divided the NFF executive committee with technical committee chairman Chris Green maintaining that the other executive members were not aware the FA president plans to bid for a CAF seat.

Sports minister Solomon Dalung has therefore requested minutes of the meeting of the NFF executive committee where Pinnick was endorsed to seek a CAF position.

“…my office has been inundated with different reports suggesting that the Board of the NFF is divided over the issue. From every indication, it seems to me that as a Board, the issue of Mr Pinnick contesting for any position in CAF has never been discussed,” Dalung said.

“More so that some members of the NFF Board are claiming ignorance of Mr. Pinnick’s nomination, it is therefore clear that something is wrong somewhere because this portrays that there is a crack on the wall.

“We should be reminded that as we consolidate on the gains of the successes recorded so far, we cannot gamble with anything that will thwart our collective resolve to deliver the World Cup ticket to Nigeria.

“Consequently, the NFF is hereby directed to avail the Ministry with the minutes of the meeting where Mr. Pinnick’s nomination was discussed and approved so as to set the records straight.

“If our quest for CAF seat is to materialize, then Mr. Pinnick will need the support of everybody.”

Pinnick will refuse to shake the sports minister’s hand after he made his speech at the AGA today.

Arsenal took foot off the gas against Manchester City, says Iwobi

The forward said his team rested on their laurels, following their 2-1 defeat to the Citizen, but assured that the Gunners will continue fighting.

Arsenal took their foot off the gas against Manchester Cityand they were punished for it, Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has revealed.

Arsene Wenger’s men bowed 2-1 to fellow title challengers on Sunday, despite taking the lead at the Etihad Stadium.

The Gunners took the lead after five minutes through Theo Walcott, but the hosts clawed back to secure maximum points in the second half courtesy of Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling’s strikes.

“I guess you could say we took our foot off the gas,” Iwobi told club website.

“Man City took advantage very well in the second half. We were up against a tough side, we were just unfortunate to not keep the win.

“We started off very well but we weren’t able to keep it up in the second half and we were very unfortunate.”

Despite the defeat that saw them drop to fourth on the log, the forward is confident that the Emirates Stadium giants can bounce back to challenge for the English topflight diadem.

“We’re gonna keep on going, fight until the end and see where we go,” he continued.

“We’ll just have to continue how we were playing at the start of the season.

“We just have to continue the way we were playing at the start of the season. We just have to get that back and kick on now and prepare well for the next game.”

The Super Eagles forward has revealed that the Citizen's boss makes the duo's video clips available for him to aide his development.

Kelechi Iheanachois on the verge of becoming one of the world's best forwards with Manchester City's manager Pep Guardiola preparing him with video clips of Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski.

Guardiola has kept faith in the 20-year-old Nigerian since joining the Citizens in August and has tipped him to become a prolific player if he can learn from the five-time Ballon D'Or winner and the 2015-2016 Bundesliga topscorer.

Iheanacho who is currently filling Aguero's absence has netted five times in 15 appearances this season and has admitted that he needs to watch keep watching their video clips and improve on the skills he is not working on.

"Of course he [Guardiola] tells me about them, that I should really watch them and see what they are doing and make sure I am improving on what I am not doing," Iheanacho told Sunday Express.

"They are great strikers, big stars so you need to see how you can improve your game, to work in training.

“They both have great qualities and they have a lot of different abilities.

“It’s important of course that you be yourself, you are your own player, you have your own style but of course you need to see what they are doing too.

I'm proof of quality available in free agents market - Anichebe
www.nairaland.com/attachments/4631431_victoranichebe_jpegbd87c1703db5753f55c55c6a7351efb6

Victor Anichebe feels his impact with Sunderland is proof of the quality in the free agency market.

The Black Cats have won every time Anichebe has started at the Stadium of Light this season, the 1-0 victory over Watford on Saturday making it three out of three.

"Come January, if we could get a couple of faces in, that would be a big help," said Anichebe, who is well aware that his manager has been told there is no money to spend.

"They don't have to be big-money signings – there are a lot of people out there who could make an impact. I was free, and so was Steven Pienaar.

"There are a lot of free players who are itching to prove a point, and they're the type of people who I think could really help change things.

"I've got friends in a similar position to the one I was in and they have been on to me asking if they can speak to the manager.

"We've got good coaching staff and good people behind the scenes, and I'm sure they're looking at that now. I've shown what's possible.

I have spent a lot of time at Platt lane.

Nigeria is corrupt but what goes on there will compete with what we do. Nepotism, favoritism and the under the table sweeteners are rife.

The Arab multi billionaire owners are not concerned or even bother auditing what is spent for youth player acquisition. There is a mentality of we need to spend this money quick or loose it, and we need to get it in our pockets.

The average coach in city is probably not on more than £35k and the part time coaches much less. You then want them to make decisions on million pound youth players without undue influence. Consider that a lot of players have TPI meaning some one can pay a very nice sweetener to make it happen.

At youth football, OPPORTUNITY is all, the question is who will be given the opportunity to shine, the best player or the vested interest player. Players are people's meal tickets inside and outside of the club. Official or unofficial everything will boil down to arrangement 90% of the time.

Doesn't matter about facilities, if you can't dance you can't dance no matter how good the dance floor is. Secondly you can't teach what you don't know, if you can't do skill how can you teach it. In most English football academies they will teach positional awareness, basic technique, fitness, strength and match discipline. But not the skill, technique and swag we Naija are accustomed too.

I will say there is one coach that has impressed me the most there and that was Mark Reese.

Don’t Blame Me For AFCON 2017 Qualification Failure, Blame Siasia

Former coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Sunday Oliseh has suggested that his replacement Samson Siasia should be blamed for Nigeria’s failure to qualify for AFCON 2017 and not him.

Nigeria used four coaches during their failed attempt to qualify for next year AFCON which will he holding in Gabon, with late coach Stephen Keshi starting the campaign with a 2-0 win over Chad before he was axed.

Following his sacking, Sunday Oliseh was appointed as coach of the team and handled them in just one game against Tanzania which ended 0-0, before throwing in the towel, three weeks to the group decider. The double header against Egypt.

Oliseh’s resignation lead to the employment of Samson Siasia as interim manager of the team for the games against Egypt. With Nigeria drawing 1-1 at home before losing 0-1 away to miss out on any chance of progressing to next year AFCON.

New manager Gernot Rohr completed the qualifying series for Nigeria beating Tanzania 1-0 in a dead rubber tie in Uyo, but while most Nigerians are blaming Oliseh. He inferred in a chat with a fan on social media that whoever handled the games against Egypt should be blamed.

A follower @Okparajokpara posted a tweet on his wall that reads ” Fans should blame the coach that failed to beat Egypt at the nations cup qualifiers and Oliseh winning ratio was fantastics”

Oliseh replied his post by saying ” Wow cheers & bravo, @Okparajokpara , I believe most Nigerians know this now. But as always there will always be a few loud exception”

"Foreign experts & I are puzzled to a rib breaking point, how a coach who had 80% success rate be called anything but successful” He concluded.

Ex U-23 & Super Eagles Prospect Okechukwu Released By Karpaty Lviv

Former Nigeria Under-23 and Super Eagles hopeful Gabriel Okechukwu has been released by Ukrainian top league side Karparty Lviv.

Okechukwu stirred up controversy in Nigeria when he was named on the bench by late Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi for a Nations Cup Qualifiers tie against Chad, despite his clubless status back then.

The Nigeria Football Federation were particulary unhappy with the fact that he was handed the jersey number 10, even though he didn’t get to play in the game Nigeria won 2-0.

Owngoalnigeria.com gathered that the 21 year old was released by the club he joined in the summer transfer window of the 2015/2016 season.

Iwobi’s Goal Against Man City Should Have Stood – Gunners Legend Insist

According to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry Alex Iwobi’s goal against Manchester City should have stood, same way that of Leroy Sane was allowed to stand.

Henry made this stand known after Arsenal 2-1 loss to Man City at the Etihad which condemned the gunners to 4th position, six points behind leaders Chelsea.

Iwobi’s goal would have given Arsenal a 2-0 lead before City recovered from been a goal down to beat Arsenal 2-1, but controversy has continue to trail both goals scored by the Pep Guardiola tutored side.

”You can argue that Sane’s foot is ahead of Koscielny. But, when it’s that close, you have to give the benefit of the doubt, same way that of Iwobi should have stood as well”, Henry said.

”If you are an Arsenal fan you are going to argue there were two offsides. The main thing is that Arsenal didn’t turn up”.

FC Porto Clears The Air On Ex Spurs Starlet Musa Yahaya Status At The Club

Portuguese giants FC Porto have cleared the air on the status of talented Nigerian forward Musa Yahaya, who has been training with the team for three months.

Portimonense bought Yahaya from English side Tottenham Hotspur after a fairly successful time on loan but traded him off six months later to FC Porto.

Porto as exclusively reported by Owngoalnigeria.com at the start of the summer transfer window snapped up the recently turned 19 year old on a five year deal, although no official announcement was made by the club.

However a birthday message to the forward, who represented Nigeria at U-17 and 20 level confirmed he is truly on the books of the club, even though he is yet to officially play for the club at any level since his transfer.

Musa Yahaya is back in Nigeria, Kaduna precisely where he is expected to tie the knot with his girlfriend Saadatu Ismail Yahaya on the 24th of December in Kaduna.

According to reports exclusively gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com, Godwin Obaje and Chisom Egbuchulam will both sign four and half year deal with Tunisian side Etoile Du Sahel tomorrow.

They both passed their medicals which was done today according to a source close to the deal, and final details of their deal will be sorted out tomorrow, ahead of their official unveiling.

The duo finished as first and second top scorers in the Nigeria Professional Football League, with Obaje scoring 18 goals for Wikki Tourist while Chisom finished two goals behind him with 16 goals for champions Enugu Rangers.

Already they have both trained with the Nigeria senior national team, although they fail to make their debut in the 2-1 World Cup qualifiers win over Zambia in Ndola.

However while their signing appears to be straight forward same can’t be said about Ibrahim Alhassan popularly referred to as Mu’azam who is undergoing trials with the team.

Mu’azam wasn’t offered a straight deal, but he has reportedly done well in the trials which could see him land a deal but not until next week according to our source.

Why Chelsea Are Willing To Let Mikel Leave For Free In January Despite Having Six Months Left On His Contract

According to reports English table toppers Chelsea are willing to allow midfielder John Obi Mikel leave Stamford Bridge for free in January, despite having six months left on his deal.

The decision to allow the 29 year old leave for free was reportedly conveyed to him few months ago, when it became apparent that he has no spot in coach Antonio Conte’s squad.

Owngoalnigeria.com gathered that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich gave the directive to allow the current second longest serving Chelsea player leave for free as reward for his long, dedicated service to the team.

Throughout his stay at the club, he has not broken any club rule and has been very faithful and loyal to the various coaches, especially the way he has handled his current situation at the club.

However he is not the first player to have been allowed to leave for free by Chelsea in recent time with Andriy Shevchenko and Fernando Torres also benefiting from same treatment in the past.

Emenike React To Poor Treatment At Turkish Side – Am Like A Prisoner At Fenerbahce

Former West Ham United of England forward Emmanuel Emenike has spoken out about his unhappiness with the way fans of Fenerbahce are treating him.

Emenike back after a season out on loan, started this season on a high but suffered a dip in form that saw him drop out of the starting line up, and most recently out of the squad on match days.

Reports in the Turkish press claim he is unhappy with coach Dick Advocaat while some reportedly said he had a fall out with Dutch defender Gregory Van Der Wiel.

”I am like a prisoner at Fenerbahce, I give everything to the team, just like I have done at Spartak Moscow, Al Ain and West Ham, I don’t know why am treated this way”, he said.

”Why am I always the sinner, I still can’t find an answer to these questions. With all due respect I do nor deserve what am getting in return”.

Rohr Speaks On Mikel’s Move To Marseille, Ndidi To Leicester City And Etebo Possible Departure

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has provided update about the future of three Nigerian players, who have all been linked with possible move away from their present clubs.

The manager first gave an update on the situation of captain John Obi Mikel who is yet to play a competitive game for Chelsea under coach Antonio Conte.

”I saw Obi Mikel in London”, Rohr told Europe 1. ” He is in advanced discussions with Olympique Marseille. ” He will leave Chelsea for free, this is a serious option”.

On Oghenekaro Etebo, the Franco-German coach of the Super Eagles said, it’s best for the talented 20 year old to complete the season with CD Feirense before thinking of a move in the summer.

”Etebo is fine where he is now. He is playing games which is very important for his development, moving in January is not ideal at least for now” Rohr, told Owngoalnigeria.com.

He also passed a vote of confidence on Leicester City bound Wilfred Ndidi, describing him as a player who can play multiple roles on the pitch above average level.

”Ndidi can play anywhere across the back four and also in the midfield. He has a bright future ahead of him, from what have seen of him, he can play more than five roles with less trouble, he will do well in any club”.

Flying Eagles Players Cry Out – NFF Have Forgotten About Us, We Are Also Owed Bonuses

At least ten players of the Nigeria U-20 team that failed to qualify for next year Africa Youth Championship have cried out to Owngoalnigeria.com over unpaid bonuses due to them.

The team made which consists mostly of players from the victorious U-17 team of 2015, were stopped in their tracks by Sudan on a 4-3 aggregate score after losing 3-2 at home in the final leg of qualifiers.

However players of the team informed Owngoalnigeria.com that they were promised they would be paid their entitlements after the game against Sudan, but since their ouster they have not been contacted.

”We had a meeting with members of the NFF, a day to our final qualifiers against Sudan, only after we threatened not to honour the game. At the meeting we were told all our match and camping allowances will be settled after the game.

”After the game, which we lost, there have been no communication from the NFF, even though we believe they have received the money from the ministry of sports.

”The case of the Falcons is just like ours, we were not paid camp allowance, we didn’t get travelling allowance, for the three games we picked up points, we didn’t get a bonus, how is our case different”? asked a player of the team in a message sent to Owngoalnigeria.com

Former Nigeria U17 glovesman Dele Alampasu is holding talks with Portuguese third-tier side F.C. Cesarense over the extension of his contract, with the current agreement with CD Feirense set to run out in January.

Alampasu, who is presently on the sidelines due to injury, has revealed that F.C. Cesarense are facing a goalkeeper crisis and he has had to play through the pain barrier of late.

“I am not sure yet if I would remain at Cesarense, they want me to stay until the end of the season but I’m not sure yet, ” said Alampasu to allnigeriasoccer.com.

“Now I have missed two games because of my injury. I have had a groin injury since last Saturday.

“I still go to games with it because we are only two in the team now so I can’t use it to play games. The other keeper is out for two months.”

Prior to his spell on the treatment table, Alampasu has been in between the pipes in the Campeonato de Portugal Prio eight times.

komekn:

Come On. Pellegrini coached Real Madrid and Real Madrid have one of the best academy facilities in the World. Pellegrini attested that Manchester City academy has the best facility in the World
