yeah... Waterloo is arguably one of the bests in the world when it comes to software but unfortunately they do not offer grad studies in software engineering, only undergrad. because wetin dem wan teach for masters wey their crazy undergrads never sabi?
The software eng is jointly offered by Electrical and Computer Engineering and computer science, he can do his masters in either ECE or CS, and for the purpose of obtaining visa, i'll advise him to remain on the ECE path.

Yh, I'm gonna go for Masc in electrical and computer with area of specialization in computer software engineering...
That's how many schools have it... Tho Concordia has it as a standalone

University of Waterloo is well respected in your field of study. A lot of tech and finance firms in Toronto put UWaterloo grads in your field on top of their hiring list. This is coming from friends who are either working with Uwaterloo grads or attended Uwaterloo. Thats all i can tell you. All the best.

Thanks a lot bro..

Good day fellow nairalanders, please I'm planning of traveling abroad (UK or Canada) after my services year which I'll be through with by October 2017 for my Master Degree.
I graduated with second class lower (2.62 cgpa) from Architecture.......I had already consult a traveling agent and he said I should do English proficiency test (TOEFL), that after doing the test that my Cgpa doesn't matter again but I'm going to use the score from my TOEFL to process the admission. Please I want to confirm how true is this.
I'll also like you guyz to advise me on how to go about this and with the schools with less tuition fee in this two countries. Thanks.

Medicals call up December. 19th 2016
Medicals done 20th December

Bro, i think i can remember you and your case. I also remember i responded to your previous worry.
Anywhere, from your application dashboard, CIC hasn't requested for a medical examination from you yet. otherwise, you would see "we need your medical information" on this dashboard and if they even did during the 2 months you couldn't link your application like your are worried they may have, by now, they probably would have closed and refused your application for failing to complete a medical examination as requested. So relax and be hopefull it comes sooner. Now you have linked it online, all correspondence from them will be from this account. So keep checking it frequently.

Thanks a lot bro @Austinpee4

@folaroyal and others please i have a big issue please help me out. i refused in US visa twice but i am not stated it in my application. see down below of what i recieved for accra, canada embassy.

Dear Wasiu Popoola:

On the current application form, you indicate that you have never been refused any kind of visa, admission, or been ordered to leave Canada or any other country. According to information in our records, you were refused a visa to the United States in 2014 and 2015.

Bros.. Thank God that you were even given a chance of 15 days to respond... Some people never got this opportunity!
Notice for all!!... I have posted severally that we need to be careful about agents and be open on declaration of information as the number of people who have been rendered inadmissible increases.
I wonder if people will listen though... Last Wednesday a known member got travel ticket from an agent (they told him to go ahead to the airport and the ticket will be sent as he gets there).... he got to Abu Dhabi and was not allowed to continue to Toronto cos the ticket had been cancelled (obviously the ticket was purchased by agent using fraudulent means) He started chatting me but I could not help... He just went back but had to buy another!!! Sad!

Anyways... did you use an agent or self submission? Did you include copies of your passport visa pages (travel history) in your application?
Is this application for a TRV or study permit?
Did this affect just you or any other applicant in your application?...

We need to do a LoE to detail the excuses and make appeals... hoping it will be accepted. Out of 3 I've helped with in the recent time, only 1 scaled through yet!!.
Most times it remains difficult to change their mind on this and sadly again the result of this is usually not pleasing.... Inadmissibility to Canada can be for years and in some bad cases it's for life!! Another bad side is that even the US you were shielding won't allow you entry again!!

Pls mail me and let's talk... I must advise that it is a difficult task though!.
Best of luck!

Dear Wasiu Popoola:
I was also rejected due to the same reason u found your self in....but I wasn't sent a letter to respond within 15days. I wasn't ban either. I reapplied and explain in detail that the error was completely on my part...I then got rejected again due travel history, employment prospects in country of residence, current employment situation and personal assets and financial status. The good news is I escaped the ban. I am planning to send my third application soon. Go through my profile and u will see the gcms notes of my first and second application.

Temporary Residence Visa is issued to enable a nonimmigrant access to Canada (in and out) more as a visiting visa..
A study permit is issued to enable you stay in Canada (8 months and beyond) specifically to study and may work part-time.

Both permits are required and issued together in the case of studies (you will not need to apply differently) TRV is pasted on your passport to enable you travel to Canada while your study permit is issued auto at the point of entry.

Only TRV is issued on your passport in the case of a tourist visit/purpose.

the different between a study permit (sp) and temporary residence visa ( trv) most students need a sp but not all students need a trv,

A study permits is required from students who which to study in Canada for more den 6months it allows u to remain in Canada, it a piece of paper dat is stapled in to ur passport.

A temporary residence visa is required for some national visa to enta Canada, it is a sticker inside ur passport.

success bro.

Information is really a weapon, there is nothing as good as being informed it gives you an advantage and most of these agents don't have these precious information we get here.... Nairaland may your days be long I get baffled when I see posts from 2006 people making enquiries and now they are comfortable in Canada.

Please are we to submit original documents to cic or we are submitted notarized certify true copies? If it should be notarized then will it be at the embassy? Because I know German embassy has a notary public. Where should the documents be notarized
Thank you
