You will remember that Cornelius the Centurion received the Holy Spirit as a man under arms. I totally agree with you that christians shouldn't kill, but there are exceptions, when defending yourself, that could be unavoidable. Can Christians join the army? Deuteronomy 20: 1-4. I don't see anything wrong in it. If everyone claims their religion doesn't support them so they can't join, pls who will? Who will defend their territory from opperesors and aggressors? I bet you and I won't live to practice that religion.

If you are a christian then i should redirect that question to you. I am a rational being that has switched back to default mode: Atheism. So i would way it on the strength of evidence and conclude that you are no less crazy than your Papa Abraham that planned to kill his only son.

I don't know about some of you. But with my experience Christianity comes with a lot of mind/spirit convictions one of Which is to not carry arms against your enemies.

Anybody can be anything but at the end, it is their adherence to principles or not that proves where they really belong.

Soldiers serve a good purpose. They fight for the nation and secure territories. And do they deserve prayers? yes because they are instruments of God too.

When they are hit, they show no mercy but fight back. A Christian who has the conviction of God will not have the heart to do same. Like Christ he is full of mercy and leaves vengeance for God.

The real question you should be asking is: Do I trust God or my sword

Your last line: Do I trust God or my sword? I will say, you have to trust God to help you conquer with your sword. God used David's mere stone to humble Goliath, ordinarily the stone wouldn't have defeated him, that is where God comes in. What I am saying is simple, we can't all be docile in the name of religion some if not all just have to be proactive. A nation must have it's own army and it must be dominated by it's people for obvious reasons. As tiny as Gambia is, it has. I believe you won't suggest a nation dominated by Christians shouldn't have theirs. Sometimes we just have to separate religion, sentiment, emotion, and reality.

Christianity would then be indistinguishable from Islam.

What then would be the point of Christ's crucifixion, since nothing would have changed?

If you agree that Christ preached LOVE for your enemies, how can you claim, in the same breath, that he permits you to kill them? Do you kill people you love?

I am sorry, I am not of the school that divides the Bible into two. I believe that the Torah and the Gospels are one whole and that the Gospels illuminate the intent and purpose of the Torah but do not cancel it. You can call them lyrics and music. That's why I began in what you termed the old testament and ended with " new testament" quotations. In any case I gave two references from what you called the New Testament; one from Jesus himself and the other from Paul to the Romans. Maybe you should address those.

The Bible is a single unfolding story. Not two. Do note my use of the word " unfolding"
