The days of fighting physical battles is over, in fact if the bible is to be followed, it is even a sin to take vengeance in any form. The New testament makes it clear that gone are the days of an eye for an eye. It is the age of turning the left cheek when the right cheek is slapped. It is an age of fighting with spiritual weapons. It is an age of evangelism and not warfare.

There seems to be Absolutely NO REASON why a christian should be a soldier. Jesus would certainly from at any of his sheep throwing bombs at souls he created.

What are your thoughts on this?

I don't know about some of you. But with my experience Christianity comes with a lot of mind/spirit convictions one of Which is to not carry arms against your enemies.

Anybody can be anything but at the end, it is their adherence to principles or not that proves where they really belong.

Soldiers serve a good purpose. They fight for the nation and secure territories. And do they deserve prayers? yes because they are instruments of God too.

When they are hit, they show no mercy but fight back. A Christian who has the conviction of God will not have the heart to do same. Like Christ he is full of mercy and leaves vengeance for God.

The real question you should be asking is: Do I trust God or my sword

You are the only christian making sense here. It's a shame many profess to be christians but are worse than infidels.
I am not a christian anymore because of issues like this. There is simply no sincerity in the church. The bible is just a book of contradictions. When I was a christian, I knew Jesus could not be pleased with soldiers who kill. It does not just add up. See christians here defending killings, they do so out of their selfish nature. They profess God but don't trust him to protect them.

I see no further basis for this argument. if Jesus did not tell the soldiers to resign seeing it was a profession that involves killing (on the right side) then a soldier is entitled to fully carry out his occupational duty.

Do violence to no man: avoid oppression and extra judicial activities.

Neither accuse any man: Do not use ur position to pervert or oppress others..

be content with your wages: continue in the work as a soldier, and make a living of it without being corrupt.

A Christian can be a soldier, since it was never counted sin for David when he killed Goliath and during his war front, thereby a christian soldier who kills in the war front following the rules of engagement will still make heaven.

Romans 13:4

You see, God hates wrongdoing so much that hell is not the only consequence of wrongdoing, and in fact, He has given us ministers to execute retribution. Of course you know very well that a sword is not used for flogging but for slicing through disobedient flesh.
