Lol Sinopec ke? My view is it depends, your resume is sketchy only if you choose to let it be. As à phd, you should have at least 2-3 published first author research papers, another 3-5 co author papers, have attended (and presented) at professional conferences. Apply for travel grants, poster awards etc. That's a fairly strong resume that should give you leverage for an industry position. Don't just sit in the lab all day.

I do not agree with the publication part as it varies from supervisor to supervisor. Some of thw old laidback ones prefer you focus on your thesis and suggest you write papers post graduation. Nonetheless, a PhD candidate should be have a great resume.

Well you do have work experience..maybe not just in your CS field. Schools don't really care much about your experience if you're going for a Master's in Computer Science. It's not like some executive MBA application. My advice, go ahead and apply for MS in Computer Science,Information systems or something around those. Prepare and write GRE if you can-that would help your application a whole lot.

Can someone who studied banking and finance also go for management information system in USA and won't have any problems pls

Hi, all: Has anyone traveled through Amsterdam from US before? Did you use/need a transit visa? Thank you.

No visa needed for transit if you have a valid US visa ....but u cannot come out of airport (which means pass through immigration). You just hang around in the airport till time to go back to the boarding gate for your next flight
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 11 by Ndawe(f): 4:28pm On Mar 06, 2017
Nope, you do not need a visa for transit, as you just stay at the airport to wait for your connecting flight. So you're good.

Please does it also apply for UAE. LOS -DXB-JFK via Emirates. Hope transit visa is not needed to pass through Dubai?
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 11 by OluDare01(m): 5:33pm On Mar 06, 2017
If your layover is more long, I'm sure Emirates would lodge you in an hotel and you'd be given a 3 month visa in Dubai.
If you're not leaving the airport, you don't need a transit visa

I would advice you go for your F-1 alone. Your family should go afterwards for their F-2. If you want her to deliver here, she can go with the B-2 visa and do all the necessary arrangement, that is after you have travelled. She can give birth and change her status to F-2 with your kids

Thank you slimmy2005 for your input. Highly appreciate!

Yes you dont need transit visa for UAE as long as you dont come out ........... however in UAE, as long as you have a connecting flight with 96 hours, you can get the transit visa at the airport , incase you want to come out and spend some days in Dubai . It is not free sha, you pay for the transit visa

Plan A is good. However, since an F2 visa holder is not allowed to work and you will only be eligible for limited work opportunities, at least in your first year, you may need to demonstrate availability of a lot of funds. Since you're going for a phd, likely you would have full funding with stipends? That should help.

TWoods, thanks very much for your input. I can hear lots of first hand experience from your comments. I have 21,600 USD Research Assistantship (RA) from the School over 9 months. I will also have about 12M naira from disposal of landed property on my bank account. Hopefully, that should be enough for funds not to be a problem during the interview. I am strongly leaning on me and wifey going at the same time. thank you!

Just be very sure that you show good proof that you will return home.
Selling up property and taking wifey could look like you intend to stay there!

Schiphol airport. I came from Nigeria through that airport. Since you will be moving from one terminal to the other within the airport, you don't need any transit visa. It's a very large airport though.
