Are you a Fundamental Analyst?

Many "investors" on this forum trading on NSE are short-term traders and not Fundamental analyst. "Fundamental analysis works better for value investors who are generally known as long term investors" ...@OakPearl. Fundamental Analysis is a top-down approach to selecting a fundamentally sound stock to invest in.

First and foremost, you need to evaluate the general economy. The economy is like the tide carrying individual companies like boats. When the economy expands, most industry groups and companies benefit. If the economy is in good shape, then move into group selection. Based on govt policies, which groups will benefit more, most etc? This will then be narrow down to company selection...

The final step to this analysis process would be to take apart the financial statements and come up with a means of evaluating the company to invest in... Sound fundamental analysis will help identify companies that represent a good value, a strong balance sheet, stable earnings, and staying power...

Key Questions
-Is your analysis robust enough?
-Is your investment acumen is for long term (6 months or more)?

If you focus your investment judgement only on declared dividends by companies, you are not a fundamental analyst but a DIVIDEND HUNTER and it will back-fire at some points...

I dont worry myself too much on fundamental analysis. Let the investment houses do the analysis, I have five of them that I read their weekly report and yearly outlook.

I depend on TA to survive in trading.

I am A Technical Analyst

Technical Analysis is the forecasting of future financial price movements based on the observed past price movements. "Technical analysis works for day traders to make short term investment decisions on a stock. They don't need too much information on the book value and all of those details of a company before trading in them."..OakPearl.

As a Technical Analyst, what I need is the stock chart which consist of stock price, volume and use some indicators to aid in the forecasting of price movement.

Key Questions
-Is my analysis showing stock price going-up? Then I BUY
-Is my analysis showing stock price is going-down? Then I SELL

It's as simple as A-B-C...

The market Price don't determine dividend payment.

But dividend payment affects price. And the stock in already on the highest possible daily loss.

Bring their price data & volume... To be honest, I lost heavily in those stocks you mentioned too, but I belief with right analysis (Fundamental/Technical) at that time, their will be signs to inform "us" earlier that it's time to sell...

affects sentiments not price
price is just a reflection of all sentiments at a point in time

- When you analyse PERPETUALLY CORRUPTED DATA, you are DOA (DEAD ON ARRIVAL).
- Even professional Auditing firms are lost or 'become part of the report' when it comes to Nigerian companies.
- I will rather take up a JOB at one of the auditing firms and have my salary guaranteed than lose my hard-earned cash on 'AUDITED REPORTS'. grin
- You feel you understand accounting until WAPCO is back from sabbatical... grin
- Policy GYMNASTICS is even an area I never wish to mention that can strike you like thunder.
- Nigeria need to have its OWN ECONOMIC TEXTBOOKS separate from what the rest of the world studies... grin
