"maaaamaaaa........, mamaaaa.... I'm finished oooo, where will i start from now, who will i run to,... I cant face my husband's family,..... The only person that would've saved me is in coma,... My husband doesnt want to see me...... "i sobbed over the phone as i talked to my mother.

I explained all the events that happened to my mother.

There was silence,.... I checked my phone to see if my mother was still there

" Hello, hello, mama, are you there? "



She then spoke softly,...... She was speaking as someone mourning a dear one


" Amaka nwa m, you did the greatest mistake of your life,.... I warned you about discussing your family issues with strangers,.... I warned you about involving a third party in your family issue,..... You couldn't even confide in me your mother,..... Amaka, this your life of thinking you can handle things on your own will destroy your home.... You have killed me.... What are you going to do now,.......? "


" Mama, if i knew what i would do, i wouldn't have called you.... Pls i know i made a big mistake... I cant take the blame anymore,.... All i need now is solutions,.... Not blames!!!!, "


I didn't know when i started shouting over the phone.

" You still have the mouth to shout after everything you did,...... I don't have strength to start arguing with you,.... Just go back to your aunty Adanna and find solution to your problem,..... You always call me when things are out of control.,...... If you're not my daughter, i would've said your mother didn't bring you up well,...... After all i taught you.... You went to Lagos and threw everything to the wind..... "


She cut the phone

" God, pls save me!!!!!!! "


" Madam take it easy oooooo,..... I'm done for the day,.... We've gone round Lagos,i think we're done for today "the taxi driver said


" I'm sorry, it wasn't of my own making, pls how much is your fare,......

"you've wasted my day, but because of your condition just give me 10k,, "


I didn't argue on the price,... I gave him the money,....


He brought out my luggage, and left, i stood there for 20minutes calling my mother but she refused picking my calls,........ I heaved a sign and picked my bags,...... I looked up and saw that i was standing in front of a church,....... I made my way into the church building, i ran to the altar, knelt down and cried my eyes out,...... I poured my heart to God........ I felt at home after that..... I didn't know when i slept off,.........

I opened my eyes lazily


An Angelic voice woke me up,....i looked up and saw a rev. Sister standing before me

"Go home dear, the Lord has heard your cries,...... "


I held her clothes

" I dont have a home!,,,...... "i'm homeless,....... My husband doesn't need me, my mother has disowned me too" i cried helplessly



"Calm down my child,..... Don't speak of such......."
I told her how i came to the church......



"You can stay with us until you sort yourself out,.... "


" Thank you so much sister, God will bless you "


She helped me with my luggage and took me to the parish priest,.... She explained my ordeal to him, and he granted me permission to stay with them,....... She then took me to their apartment ........ Their apartment was well furnished, there were three rev. Sisters and a nun living in the four bedroom flat,.... They all welcomed me,.... Sister took me to her room and made me comfortable,.......


I took my time to explain all that has been happening to me to the rev. Sister,...... I told her about my encounter with aunty Amanda, and the holy water.


"My daughter,.... God loves you so much,..... You would've killed your mother in law,......... And your life would've been ruined because you would have ended up in jail,..... You need to pray without seizing,... That family needs you,.... Dont abandon them,... Your husband will still forgive you, it might take time,.... All you need is patience,....... "



She prayed for me, after that i bathed and ate, we went foee their evening prayer before we slept,...........



My phone's ringing tone woke me up,...... I checked the caller Id, it was my mother..... I was really over joyed.... I picked the call



" Mama, pls i'm sorry for shouting at you over the phone,..... Pls forgive me,.... "


" It's ok my daughter,..... Where're you right now,...?, "


" I'm in a church, i'm squatting with a rev. Sister........ I'll be going to school from here, till things are sorted out,.... I'll continue praying,... My God will fight for me,...... "


" This is good,.. I need to thank her ooo, pls just remain steadfast in your prayers,....but, i advice you go back to your husband,.... Beg him for forgiveness,...... You cant run away from your home..... I'll be calling you from time to time,.... If things are out of control , then i'll come to Lagos,... I cant be here in the village while my daughter is suffering,.... Take care of your aunty for me..... I'll continue praying for everyone "


" Thank you mama, i'm happy now,i'll give my husband time to calm down before going back to him,,,,,thanks for your advise, take care of yourself, bye "



I slept off,.... But sleep was far away from me, i started thinking of how to find out the truth about aunty Adanna,... I need to find her...... I decided to visit her tomorrow,... I need to talk to her neighbours,... I will visit mummy first before going to her residence.




Thank God it was morning, we went for our morning devotion, after that i bathed and left,


I went to the ATM first, to withdraw some cash,.... I was running out of cash...i noticed Nelson has transfered some cash to me...... Then i headed to the hospital,......


When i got there, i saw daddy and Nelson arguing about something, Chy was standing, looking confused,....... They were moving towards the gate,... I hid at the back of a black jeep



"Nelson you made a big mistake,.... You should've allowed her explain herself,....just Because of what the detective said, you threw her out of your house,..... Now where's she?,...... We've been searching for her since last night to no avail, what will i tell her mother? "daddy lamented


" Daddy i was hurt, i trusted her,.. Why would she keep secrets from me?, i thought she would be with Chy,....... I was shocked when i called Chy this morning, and asked after her,.... She told me she hasn't seen Amaka since the last time we visited,.."


"just pray nothing happens to that girl,... Call her mother and know if she's in the village" daddy said


"I cant call her mother ooo,... And i know Amaka too well,.... School will resume next week and she wont abandon school for anything,.... She's in Lagos,... But i cant figure out where she would be"



"Have you tried her number?," Chy asked


"so you think i havent called her, when i woke up this morning,..... I remembered that today is bb the last day of the month,.... I transferred her monthly allowance into her account,....... I called her to check on her thinking she was with you,. ... But her phone has been switched off since morning"



I then remembered i forgot to charge my phone before leaving the house, i checked my bag for the phone, it wasnt there,....... I must have forgotten it on the table,...........


"You've seen where your stubbornness has landed us,... We are battling with your mother's health, now this,..." daddy lamented



"I never meant those words i told her, i just wanted to scare her,..... I wanted to teach her a lesson,........."


"But you went too far,!, Chy shouted at him

I watched daddy and Nelson drive out, Chy went back inside the hospital,.... I waited for hours before she left.....




I sneaked into the private room to see mummy,...... I cried my eyes out,........ I prayed for her...... This is a family that loves me to a fault,.. Chy still loves me, she doesn't feel betrayed about what i did,..... My husband was only pretending to be angry with me........ But i couldn't trust them,.... I kept things away from...... I wasnt ready to face them,.....




I left the hospital and forgot going to aunty Adanna's house, as i had planned,... I took a taxi home,....



*********i met the rev. Sister praying, i changed my clothes and joined her, after the prayer she served me food,.... She prepared a delicious jellof rice with fried beef and plantain,....


I was enjoying my food when she brought out my phone and handed it to me



"I saw your phone on the table after you left, i charged it, it turned on on its own, then your husband kept on calling, i didnt pick at first but when the call became tensed i picked it,...... I'm sorry but the spirit of God led me to give him this address, he's on his way here,..... "



My throat choked immediately,......


" I'm sorry, "she offered me water to drink

She was still talking when the door bell rang,.......i closed my eyes and prayed it shouldn't be Nelson,.... I wasn't ready to face any of his family member.

I hugged him and begged him to forgive me for not confiding in him,........we made up,..... I was so happy


He had a fresh bath, i prepared dinner and we ate.



I woke up the next morning and prepared mummy's favorite dish, i packed her food neatly in a flask.

My husband was already dressed up when i went to wake him up,....... He would go to the office from the hospital,...... I bathed and dressed up,..... We ate our breakfast and left for the hospital.
