you can't take annual and maternity leave in a year, but if you do, it will be deductible from your maternity leave, therefore take 5days leave go for the vacay, when applying for maternity leave, they can deduct it from your maternity, 5days isn't that much. This is assuming your company operates this way o

Hello house, pls I'm in a fix now and I need some clarification. my hubby and I got a visa for vacation in February, we really wanted to go for vacation then but due to the dollar scarcity, we shifted it. mid March, I was confirmed pregnant. mind u, I wasn't asked if I was pregnant during our interview and neither did I know I was pregnant den. now, I'm 3 months gone.
The issue now is my hubby and I planned going for the vacation next month (may) den I can go for childbirth later but I was told today at my office that I can't take my annual and maternity leave together in a year.
So now, I don't know what to do. can I go for childbirth later with a letter of intent since I wasn't asked if pregnant then? what are the options available for me now as I'm really confused. gurus in the house, over to u.

5days and spend almost 500k on flight fare? undecided If she can't get atleast 2weeks then it's not worth it.

So how did your office know you're pregnant? You told HR? Which kain stupid rule is that? So if you take the annual leave, they'll chain you in the office to have your baby there? Except you went telling people your U.S plans in the office.
Anyway you're better take casual leave, go for vacation. Come back and plan your birthing trip.

Haba...madam...cut yourself some slack now! This is a general rule, if u didn't know about it before, get enlightened! Stop sounding overtly bossy in answering peoples questions abeg.

As regards the Oakbend price increase, My wife was at Oakbend last week and she was told she had to pay the new price of $2,750 to register instead of the $2,500 which Dr F. quoted. She paid the sum and registered but later mentioned it to Doc F. at her next appointment. He said he had just been informed about the increase and didnt know beforehand. He also said he will have a talk with the Oakbend MD to refund the extra $250 since he had already quoted the $2,500 for us as they didnt inform him of the increase.

Doc F. also gave us a discount on his prices cos she is a returning patient.

I just dey pray make everybody dey discount dey go..... grin grin grin grin

Hello Shawlar,
my wife plans to use Dr F again and would like to know if the hospital has agreed and possibly provided the $250 refund . Dr F mentioned to me that hey would honor the old rate from his patients so I would like to know how that is going
Also what sort of discounts did you get as a returning patient as my wife is one also. Would like some insights abeg
I tried PM but am not sure it went through to you.

Speak for yourself. You're not the only vessel of knowledge here, Jeez! And tone it down a bit would ya? Nobody is your child here, stop speaking to people like they're kids. YES. Most organizations appreciate you telling them early on that you're pregnant so that they can have time to sort out whoever will fill in for you when you're out and/or to sort out your PFL and disability benefits and most importantly to cut you some slack when morning sickness gets intense and you can do some tasks, have to go to the doctor or simply just to take a day or two off. I told them I was pregnant when I was 10weeks. Some people make the announcement even earlier.

Or she should not have said anything and let them figure it themselves with her growing belly? undecided

Nne wetin make I talk na, we don't want her to resume work when the LO is barely 2months na, but it depends on her and the company's policy, what I said there was an example anyway

Hello MissG, I'm new to the forum.
I am considering delivering at Baylor Medical Center Frisco as it is near my host. Please can you share the cost from your last delivery and the doctor you used? Thanks in advance.

Hello Guc123456,

Welcome to the forum.

My response to your question was deleted, send me your email address so I can forward the cost to you.

Hi PrinceAdeAde,
I just registered with Oakbend/Dr E.
Dr E honored her old price and so did Oakbend because I had the email they sent quoting old prices.
I don't know about discounts for returning patients though. Hope this helps

I should get enlightened to ancient human resource restrictions

Except it's a general rule for Nigerian companies. But the company I work for does not operate under those rules. In fact they try to please female employees in all way necessary because they believe in equal opportunity/no discrimination. Male employees also get paternity leave. So it's for both sexes.

MamaOO and Shawbabe.

I see ammunition loading.

Shawbabe. You don't have to insult everyone that has a different opinion from you. There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism. This is an open forum, rubbing minds without throwing insults will be educative and informative.

In your organization you are not obliged to reveal your pregnancy until you are ready, good point. With examples to back it up, awesome, shikena. No need for insults.

MamaOO highlighted some salient points, which can help other readers make an informed decision regarding the time to reveal.

This is a good discourse you are ruining by getting emotional about.

Abeg highlight where I insulted the lady? Then again this is the same NL that accuses a certain Patrol Officer grin..TWoods of being insensitive. When he is clearly not! But hey! I get that y'all are some sensitive women, pumped on pregnancy hormones... Look folks just love Shawbabe, even if they won't admit it to themselves. I understand. I love yall too! wink

You calling someone stupid? Really? Why? shocked shocked

Madam, the Internet is anonymous & with some having simple/complex issues in their day to day lives, they have no restraint since they are hiding behind keyboards, so trolling and abuses come so easy & fast.....

Take this in good faith & try to work on that thing that "compels" you to be in attack mode majority of the time. If a posts irks you, you really don't need to air your opinion about it all the time... Just waka pass pass!!!! You don't have any intent of correcting/helping people , you just take special delight in ridiculing & demeaning them & that is totally uncool!!!!

I (+ a few others) have been accused of being a bully/ bullies on this thread (for telling people the truth & asking them to go and read up) on numerous occassions in the past so you cant claim I'm thin skinned or extra sensitive.... You are a real sensitive one that takes up all baits... Haba!!

If you aren't here, this thread will still be here, so chill ehn.

P.S.... There is no name you can call me that someone in politics board hasn't, so let it flow, the R button is there to solve it & it's better Justwise gets in here and do clean up duty, ...

Lmao! The dilemma I'm having now is wasting my strength responding to you in kind to have Justwise come and remove the posts! it's like gearing up for a fight that will be canceled.

But I will say 3 things though, your stupidity is ALARMING. Even with your powerpoint presentation of a post and your bolded numbering lol, it is still alarming! You deduced I worship white people from where You are beyond stupid!

Secondly, you can live and work in the moon for all I care. That doesn't mean your company ain't shitty! In my field you are not required to be on-site. A colleague of mine took mat-leave back to back in 2 consecutive years! You are NOT OBLIGATED TO TELL ANYONE YOU ARE PREGNANT UNTIL YOU WANT TO! If this makes you mad, well go look for another job! Don't take out your frustrations on me. And blah blah blah....yes I KNOW IT ALL, does that irk you too? Join the queue!

Finally, I have read it all here about the person that married me. I wonder why yall are so bothered on who or how he is coping? Maybe I'm some deadbeat ho that gets pregnant by random men? Who knows? tongue

Take a hike with your broken record gang. Typical Nigerian women who carry husband on their head, small fight...them go dey refer to spouse. Probably y'alls greatest achievement is having a man find yall worthy! I won't even respond to that becoz the nonsense line has become boring!
Kisses! kiss

grin grin grin

Not trying to take sides but disclosing pregnancy at work depends on many factors such as what country you reside.

The key factor is the terms of your employment contract.

For example, as a day rate contractor, you can choose not to disclose as you are not eligible for maternity pay. Such person is not obligated at all to disclose any pregnancy. I have seen contractors work right up to the day before their delivery and they are back in few days later. grin

As a permanent staff, if you are entitled to maternity pay, then there is a deadline to inform your employer which is usually around the second trimester. This is to give them time (as well as DWP) to process your maternity pay.

Maternity leave isn't compulsory. Some women chose not to have it.

I do agree that the rule of not taking both annual leave and maternity leave the same year is rather weird and unfair. Only an unscrupulous employer will come up with such. As an employee, you are entitled to annual leave (this is your basic employment right) and as a pregnant woman, you are also entitled to some time off (if you choose to do so) - this is also an employment right.
