How much I need to start a small scale business in Malaysia

Business in Malaysia?

Hello, I tried to apply online to UKM for a Master's programbut was told I have to submit institutional email addresses for my 2 academic referees. I have tried without success to explain to the school that most universities in Nigeria don't have functioning institutional emails. Please how can I approach this issue? For those that got admission, how did you tackle the issue? Thanks.

I have been following this thread for long as I was deceived to study in Malaysia with hope I will get a job after my 3 years degree and Hello to everyone and this is to those who are coming to Malaysia for the purpose of studying, please think twice and ask yourself why Malaysia? First I have to sound it out to everyone here that you have your final decision to choose either to study here or somewhere else. I am not trying to demoralize any one rather I want to let you know of the reality on ground, Firstly Malaysians don't like blacks and the see all Blacks as criminals, fraudster/conmen, black money vendor, and prostitute,

The don't know the difference between someone from Ghana, South Africa, African-American and Nigeria, once you're black you're Nigerian and a criminal, even those that will smile at you especially the Chinese, they are doing so because you have something financially to offer or you're always coming to their pubs with friends to drink.

Malaysian degree is not even acceptable in most firm in Singapore talk more about other advanced Asian countries, Malaysians don't value their education that much and that is why their government sponsored them to study elsewhere as such you will see Malaysian Students all over the world even in South Africa. Malaysia value their certificates if you as a Malay especially wants to work in the government sector but most firms accept and value certificates from outside Malaysia more than their own certificates, so why wasting your hard earn money to study in a country, where you are not allowed to work or even do internship.

In other countries like Singapore when you finish your degree you're allowed to search for work and you have 50/50 to get a job while here in Malaysia once you finish your study, Immigration and Education department will not renew your Student Visa and the will asked you to leave the country within 2 weeks whereby you fail to leave then you will become an Illegal immigrant, which is very difficult to stay in Malaysia without papers.

Why waste your hard earn money when after graduating you're not allowed to work and the only place you can even try your bet is Celcom and a call desk officer with a salary of 1500 ringgit, which is a contract work of just 4-5 months and the will not file for a work permit for you.

Why wasting your hard earn money to study in Malaysia when there is discrimination in housing, I mean renting a place and that is why you see Nigerians and Africans living much in Puchong, Cheras, Subang Jaya, cyber Jaya, Bukit Jali, Selayang, Kajang and only few lives in KL, if you doubt try and search for apartment, call the agent and tell him/her you're a Nigeria or African then watch his/her response which usually " owner dont want foreigner".

Thirdly in other countries as a student you're allowed to work for few hours during session and work more hours during holidays period but here in Malaysia you cannot even work as a cleaner. I will advise those going to Malaysia to think twice as you will get frustrated if you're having hope of study and work or work after study....., If your upkeep money is not coming from Nigeria then you're doomed and will be forced to go either way of illegal means of survival, which 90% of those living in Malaysia are into. The only business you see Nigerians doing here selling African things or operating and opening of African restaurant, which you must get married to their locals before you can. Please save your money and find somewhere else to study and work. Malaysian Universities are not even among the 200 Universities in University Ranking.

You also talked about the rankings of university, I've done my research and according to times higher education world university rankings, more than 5 malaysian universities are there and only one nigerian university in the whole world (university of ibadan) you're complaining that malaysian universities are not part of top 200, do you know how many universities are in America or UK, even in the whole of Europe and you expect malaysia to be part of top 200, there are even some countries that are not even part of top universities , are you not nigerian, only one university from our country and its at eight hundred and something, so why are you complaining about another country and in malaysia you're only allowed to work during the holidays, that is why you must have enough funds before you get there because they won't allow you work during the semester. And you're allowed to work as a cleaner or waiter but not as a cashier. I don't know but maybe you were just unlucky because I know people who are living comfortably in malaysia they still face racism once in a while but it's already normal to them it's not something you can change, racism is everywhere you cant just wake up one morning and racism will be gone. And the downside is that you can't really hold high posts in your work place in malaysia. If you go to an accredited school in malaysia and come out with a very very very good result, believe it or not you'll be successful, the only thing you'll be having problems with is racism, that's all, some of the Malaysians will even envy you because someone that's not from their country is doing what they can't do, they'll respect you because even with all the racism you faced you still came out successful. So please stop discouraging people, because you had a bad experience doesn't mean everyone will follow suit. I'm sure because of what you said most people have given up. Malaysia is a very good place to study, but if you feel it's not the right place for you, you can always change location, you can even bring your degree back to nigeria and many people will want you to work with them because you studied somewhere other than nigeria

My school is usm. EMGS says they've not received some of my docs from usm to process my VAL. It is taking so long .

Yes I've been to Malaysia before, and I'm not lying when I tell you there are jobs for nigerians there, though it's rare to find, I've seen people working there; it just depends on the school you go to or your level of education

Cleaning job for the above-mentioned universities, which I still doubt as I graduated from Taylors Subang Jaya ( SMH )and you're calling this job,. Please don't mislead anyone, THERE IS NO JOB IN MALAYSIA EXCEPT THE CELCOM CALL CENTER WHICH IS A PART-TIME JOB.

I'm presently doing my masters in UPM and I'm enjoying both the masters and Malaysia to the fullest, if you are coming just to study and you have a good sponsor, you have nothing to worry about, you will enjoy Malaysia, No work here, thats the problem, if you dont have money that can cover your tuition fee and expenses, Malaysia is not the right destination for you

Yes we're both saying the same thing, but that billionaire guy is talking like there's no job at all for nigerians, like no nigerian has ever worked in malaysia. All I can say is there is job but it's very rare, if it's job you're looking for, go to another country, or if you're a student just looking for means to make more cash, if you can't find, don't stress yourself, all you need is a good sponsor. Or if you're looking to get a work permit, I'll advice you not to try, because except you went to a really good school in malaysia or a top school in another country, you won't get a decent job, don't bother wasting your time

Why can't I call it a job? there are people suffering out there, if the person badly needs the money, he won't mind doing a cleaning job.

Ask your brother to ask around for people that send to Nigeria. Ask him to go to Kepong Jingjang Shell where Nigeria spare parts dealers are and ask. Or Cheras Taman Counnaght Giant Mall and ask those Nigerians there

I was at Gtb yesterday and they said I can submit my request but they will only process wen there are sales meaning no guaranteed turn around time for the transaction. don't u think going thru DAT process could be slow.is there any other alternative considered faster and safer? pls advise

check my post from last year, i posted the requirements for NDLEA certificate, but if you are applying to a university, you wont need it for visa, for visa processing check the list on the website of malaysian embassy in abuja, you might not need some documents if you are applying to public universities that has a good reputation here

1st Dont get it twisted there is no legal work here, its almost impossible to find, if any tell you you can study and work here, be sure of the kinda work its talking about, and you can stay more that two weeks on a tourist visa here unless you plan overstay, and there is a very high chance of deportation, but i nigerians usually have there way around that , you cant also change a tourist visa to student visa. If you wanna get into malaysia and be able to stay legally, you best bet is a student visa.

if your brother could make that kinda money, he should know the right place to take the money too and not any bank over here, there are alot of nigerians that do the business of changing ringgit to niara vice versa, its partnof alot of peoples work here, he should know alot of them. I do the exchange business too.
