Hello...I really need to get something clear as regards the VOA. Do u mean that one can actually process it as stated on the Nigeria Immigration Service website without any contact help?

That is what it supposed to be under normal circumstances

Thanks for your response and do we have anyone that has gone through the VOA DIY successfully on this forum? Cos I actually paid a contact about 20k to have mine done & I've seen other people charge between 30-50k for the same service. If one can actually do it without any contact help, then paying for such doesn't worth it. Let anyone that has done it successfully reach out to people that will be in need of such service.

That is the problem right there, because those 'contacts' are milking it they make it look as if one can not do it online successfully without them.

You can apply online of you don't want to keep feeding those 'contacts'

Officially, you can also apply for your Nigerian passport online but we all know how that will turn out. You'd probably wait 5 months before scanning and then wait another 3 months before your passport is produced. This is Nigeria, nothing is normal, it's the sad truth.

My advise to mums on VOA is, If you don't want to be stranded with you LO at MMA, pls use an immigration officer/agent.

..and the problem you pointed out above will never go away because there are people who are ready to bribe them to do what they are paid to do.

Basically you have no right to complain because you kept them in that dubious business.

We Nigerians know exactly what the problem is but we are not ready to solve it yet.

For same love of God, I have to marry your comment and mine. I will also explain the bolded a little FYI

1.IMO= In My Own Opinion
2.NPC= National Population Commission
3.Citizen of Nigeria (also known as Nigerian Citizenship)=I have shared extract from the constitution earlier
4.Should/shouldn't= authority to decide (base on rules & regulations)
5.Fact= Very deep and wide with many attributes e.g true always, constant over time, verifiable and can come in different form)

NB: Assumption here is that Children in discuss are holding both Nigerian (due to lineage) and American (due to place of birth) citizenship

Kindly help identify the mis from the information above

Your write up above is irrelevant and does not answer the question.

A birth certificate is what it is - certifying the details surroundng the birth of a child (DOB, time of birth, location, etc)

So you have a birth certificate stating a person was born in Fort Bend County, USA.

Then you have one issued at Mafoluku Local Government stating you were born in Mafoluku General Hospital.

How does this make any sense?

justwise pls permit me to do this, this is the step by step process of visa on arrival...
About Visa on Arrival (VoA)
Nigeria Visa on Arrival is a class of short visit visa issued at the port of entry.
The VoA facility is available to frequently travelled High Net Worth Investors and Intending Visitors who may not be able to obtain visa at the Nigerian Missions/Embassies in their countries of residence due to the absence of a Nigerian mission in those countries or exigencies of urgent business travels.
Eligibility

Executives of Multi-national Companies
Members of Government Delegations
Holders of United Nations Laissez-Passer
Holders of African Union Laissez-Passer,

Note: Visa on Arrival is available to citizens of all countries except ECOWAS Nationals who do not require visa to visit Nigeria and other countries which Nigeria has entered into visa abolition agreements.
How to Apply for Visa on Arrival
Step 1 : Get Visa on Arrival Approval Letter
There are two methods to obtaining VoA approval letter: applying through email or in person application by representative in Nigeria.
Applying through Email

Name of Applicant
Passport number of Applicant
Nationality
Purpose of visit
Proposed date of visit
Proposed port of entry
Flight itinerary
Address in Nigeria or Hotel Reservation
Attach the following documents:

Applying through your representative in Nigeria
1. Contact your Representative (Business partners, Company Representative, Protocol/Liaison Officer, etc) in Nigeria.
2. The Representative files a formal request for Visa on Arrival Approval on your behalf by writing an application letter to The Comptroller General of Immigration, NIS HQ, Abuja stating the following:
Name of visitor
Passport number of visitor
Nationality
Purpose of visit
Proposed date of visit
Proposed port of entry
Proposed airline
Flight itinerary
Address in Nigeria
Email address of the visitor
Acceptance of Immigration Responsibility

Copy of visitor’s passport data page
Copy of Airline Return ticket Reservation
Note: After Approval Letter is obtained,(Hard Copy) by your representative, copies of the same document will be forwarded to the Airline stated in the application and Immigration port of entry.
Timeline:
The request shall be processed and approval letter issued within 48hrs (2 working days).
Step 2 : Pay for Visa on Arrival
Fill in the application form with your correct details and make payment online here.
Note: Successful online payment is not an approval. Applicant should not proceed through Nigeria until receipt of ‘Visa on Arrival Approval Letter’ issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters, Abuja. Online Payment may also be made at point of arrival subject to presentation of Visa on Arrival Approval Letter. Master Card, Visa and American Express card are acceptable.
Step 3 : Arrive at the Port of Entry and proceed for Immigration Clearance
Upon arrival at the Port of Entry, proceed to the desk marked ‘Visa on Arrival’ for issuance of entry Visa. Present the following documents in hard copy at the Port of Entry:
Visa Approval Letter (Pre-approved visa letter), valid for 14 days from the date of issuance

The major concern for those who won't mind taking the Nigerian BC was if the correct place of birth is stated on it I.e it must have same information as the Yankee own. Someone confirmed she got one with US stated on it and the same thing with Int'l Passport.
I'm looking ur way now because your concern is valid but you mis the conversation

I said NPC (not clerk sitting on one desk in one LGA office) via its regulation should determine its possibility.

Do u agree that Nigeria should have record of her citizens born outside her shores? If yes, how do we go about?

@ the bolded, why did the federal govt introduce visa on arrival then? it was in march 2014, during president Jonathan that this scheme was introduced to enable 'big' investors have easy access to Nigerian visas, subsequently,it extended to every investors, due to the constant shortage of visa vignette and passport booklets in some Nigeria missions abroad, some individual prefer VOA, cos its fast, easier and cheaper, kindly also permit me to state that the information on the step by step process of VOA i posted earlier is correct and authentic, kindly log on to the website i posted few pages back for more info.. again, am not an agent nor embassy worker, just that i care..

The truth is, the National Population Commission is meant to register (keep a civil register) of all Nigerian citizens whether born in Nigeria or abroad. The Commission is also to register deaths and still births. The Commission derives its powers from the Constitution. The Commission's Department of Vital Registration actually carries out that function. I think further clarification on this issue can be sought from the National Population Commission.

if you are processing nigerian passport for your yankee LO, you need NPC birth certificate but the place of birth will be USA even in the nigeria passport, you will just have to produce the american birth certificate for sighting and confirmation that the child was actually born abroad. the place of birth in my babys nigerian passport is USA, cos thats where she was born

I know why it was introduced but my point is that if you are applying for a new born baby you don't need some of the steps listed in that link. The website I posted gives a simpler steps and also another separate steps for business or investors

I'm surprise that we are still on this BC issue. We just like to hide behind one finger. The NPC BC is meant ONLY for children born on the shores of Nigeria. I went to the NPC office in one of the local Govt council and I was told by one of their ogas that the birth certificate is ONLY for children born on the shores of Nigeria they proposed to "help" me if I don't mind filling in Eti Osa as the place of birth. If you are in possession of an NPC birth certificate with Texas, Houston etc as the place of birth I will advice you to quickly destroy it because I'm 100% sure it is fake. In my quest to get an NPC BC, I was reliably told that even Local Govt offices are into issuance of fake certificates to desperate and unsuspecting applicants
@ desoul, you don't need NPC BC to get a Nigerian passport for your LO all you need is your own passport, the child's American passport and his American birth certificate.
