you think you are better on the Piano that you dont have to attend prayer*Worker meetings before church, and feel too full of your self to admit and just obey simple instruction to tuck in. Hummm!! i pity you. one day someone in that congregation who may lead you to your destiny may not help you by the actions and attitude. swallow the bitter pill of pride, apologize to the pastor and show remorse and learn to submit to any constituted authority.
All these millennial generation sef. they give problem every where. i have many of such in my office.

You were wrong , the pastor was also wrong , if he truly wanted to correct you, he would call you aside privately and advice you tuck your shirt in, it's not by force actually . And u shouldn't ave left, you are an African man, you should always respect your elders , pastor or not .

What's your candid view on this?

Recently I joined a church, I know how to play piano but not really well. The church has a standard pianist that plays literally on every church's event. When they discovered I knew how to play, they gave me the opportunity to be playing at least 2 times a month. Honestly, I didn't see myself as a church worker because I've never been to their meeting before. I only play when they tell me to otherwise I stay at the congregation. Last Sunday, I wore a shirt with a suit trouser and a sandals to church, then I wasn't expected to tuck in my shirt with a sandals. When I got to church, the pastor ordered me out of the church to tuck in before coming inside and instructed the ushers to not let me in until I tucked in my shirt. The church was still on and I got so ashamed and embarrassed. Everybody's eyes were on me during that time.

As confused as I was, I angrily left the church that moment to another nearby church.

Then I started thinking, Do we really have to tuck in our shirts to show how holy we are in church? What do you think had prompted the pastor to order me out? Do Christians have a dressing code? Will I be judged on the final day for letting loose my shirt to church? What's your view on this?

Go back to that church and grow spiritually

I can't remember the last time I tucked to church. I've always worn designer shirt and jeans or chinos and matching sneakers.

And no one has ever ordered me out.

i think the pastor already sees you as a worker sinx you play the instrument, as a worker in redeem, if u come late, u will asked to stand up, it a way of of inculcating discipline, this doesnt affect floor members though

A lot....it teaches him humility...which is a very BIG part of spiritual development.

You know...when I was in primary school, I did not really see the point sometimes of wearing school uniforms. I thought they were burdensome, and having spent some time in a foreign school where I did not have to wear uniforms, I wondered why I had to wear a uniform.

Until I got into University...and realised that an important aspect of many jobs is uniform. Good thing that I learned to humble myself and wear school uniform...so that I could easily wear a white lab coat in the science labs, or suit and tie to see patients!

Humiltiy is a very important part of spiritual development. Because sometimes, God is going to ask us to do strange things in our service to him. Like this Christianity that we practice. Many missionaries humbled themselves and came over to be bitten by mosquitoes ( and as a doc, I can tell you that malaria in a person that is not exposed to it before can be deadly), and suffer all sorts of illnesses just to bring Christ to us.

One of them was a sports star of the late 19th century. Yet, he left all that behind,moved into one bush African village and spent 30 years there telling people about God. He won't have been able to do that if he was not humble enough to give up his chances of a comfy life.

God uses people who are willing to be humble...in little things. Because God is Lord of your entiire life...not just on Sundays.

That's the problem, when we are rebuked in the Church we became angry but when we are flogged and punished in our various schools, we accept it in good faith. The op just failed a promotional spiritual test. God just used that pastor to test his humility, unfortunately he failed it.

Strange I guess.

But there is nothing wrong with obeying an order from an Elder in Christ so long as the order does not violate God's word.

The lesson he has to learn is humility. Humility in small things...so that you can be prepared for the big things.

You will not be judged on the last day for not ticking in your shirt but you will be judged for succumbing to anger and pride except you repent of both.
As for the pastor, only God who sees in secret has the only and final say about his action .

Well, if you belief in the leadership of that Pastor, you wouldn't have left the church. Pastors are humans and can make mistake also. It really sound so embarrassing though, but maybe there's something else you need to learn from that.

I've once been told to go and tuck in my shirt when I newly joined a unit in a church. I took it with humility, as correction, (it never afected me in anyway) and later noticed the workers are to be neatly dressed in like manner.

We can only serve God in Humility.

The one I attend I made him see reasons why I can be his stooge as since then everyone has been on their level ooooo. O boy no gree am go to another church where your ego will not be rubbed upon and where God's spirit is.
